😠 I've been a customer of 4Java.ca for about ten years. Over that time I've not needed a lot of help and they've provided reasonable hosting for email and static hosting. I had a lot of difficulty getting help setting up any java-based services, and basically gave up. If you really need JSP/Tomcat help you're probably on your own (i.e., good luck). As another has commented their service has been getting much worse lately, and currently their entire site (and mine) has been down for days, so I've finally given up and will be moving elsewhere.
My experience with their support is that they often take a very long time to respond, and when they do they perform a tennis match of partial responses, ambiguous questions, and unanawered questions, as if they're trying to put you off. I cannot recommend 4java.ca as their servers have been offline a lot lately and their service is increasingly poor. A shame really. 😞 Avoid at all costs - you were warned
After 6 months, I cancelled my account with 4java. Good site, services. I received an email back confirming that they had cancelled my account and no further billing would occur on my Visa (dumb!). Then I receive an email that my "cancellation ticket" had not received an confirmation, so they would continue to bill. I immediately emailed back advising that I HAD confirmed... and cancel the account.
This circular (1) request to cancel, (2) confirmation of account close, (3) 4java reopening the account and billing me has now gone on FOUR times.
Basically, it's a scam to not let you cancel the account.
Legal action has ensued to recover fraudulent charges and they refuse to stop.
I wish I had know in advance what an unscrupulous company 4java was. I would have NEVER signed up. Now I have major headaches trying to disengage these leeches.
Please don't make the same mistake as me!

😠 It get's worse!
During their server migration which we were not notified about we lost all our postgresql databases. They had no backup of the old server before migrating to the new machine and could not retrieve them. Set us back a few weeks on some projects.

They offer support and it doesn´t work
I having problems with my emails, ftp, Plesk and website 3 weeks ago and 4java can´t fix it..
My support tickets are answered 3 o 4 days after.
The service is "really really bad"
and in this moment the 4java pltataform is down...

4Java was okay, it provided decent PHP and Java support. However when shit hit the fan and they moved from Plesk to CPanel, I couldn't reach support for weeks.
I was once in a Live chat with one of their support agents and mid-question, he left the chatroom and their support email would not answer any questions.
I would not recommend 4java.ca to anyone except for use with testservers.
Have migrated now to hostgator, taken me about a day, it was well worth it though.

I was 4java's client for more then 2 years and I have to say it was disappointing.
They offer you packages with a shared or private tomcat.. None of them is worth it. The shared one can be down at any time because anyone can fire a restart. The private has a very slow performance, since it is hosted in a shared machine together with other gazillions of tomcats. The say you can hire extra memory for your tomcat and I did that. Not worth it too. The performance moved from "really really bad" to "really bad". Also, their online support never worked for me and there is no phone number to get in touch with them. When you issue a ticket to their support team, they joke on you, changing the owner of the issue. Your ticket's new owner always misses the start of the thread and you have to explain it all over again. This slow and tiring process can take a week (it happened to me sometimes).
When I found out another product in the market where I could:
- pay less,
- pay only for what I [read more...]

😠 Their website says they offer unlimited domains but that isn't the case once you sign up for a shared Tomcat account. In fact you can't add any domains at all so in my case I was stuck with the provided 4java subdomain, which is useless.

However, response and service is on the low side of BAD when the sh-- hits the fan.
This has occurred more than once now.
Our websites have been down for 24 hr .
No human response from email.
No Server status reported on this or other website
Can't log in, Can't use Webmail, Can't retrieve email via POP
No person on the end of their phone. No downtime msg. either.
Our business runs over the web. Very disappointing!

😁 I am happy dealing with 4java because I have nice hosting opportunities dealing with this reliable company. I have been hosting my site topmedicalsites(dot)us for a year and 8 months and I can say that I have downtime only two times, but when I send a support ticket to their staff, the problems were solved within an hour and I should add that they are really patient with me.
This company specializes in Java and there is no doubt that they are experts in delivering secure web hosting, especially for Java. I know from personal experience that their chat support is 24/7 online and I personally use it quite a lot. It is satisfying to be able to quickly handle the technical side of hosting my site and remain focused on improving content.
I really appreciate all the work they did for me and want to thank their team. I highly recommend this web host.
