4java.ca is disappointing
I was 4java's client for more then 2 years and I have to say it was disappointing.
They offer you packages with a shared or private tomcat.. None of them is worth it. The shared one can be down at any time because anyone can fire a restart. The private has a very slow performance, since it is hosted in a shared machine together with other gazillions of tomcats. The say you can hire extra memory for your tomcat and I did that. Not worth it too. The performance moved from "really really bad" to "really bad". Also, their online support never worked for me and there is no phone number to get in touch with them. When you issue a ticket to their support team, they joke on you, changing the owner of the issue. Your ticket's new owner always misses the start of the thread and you have to explain it all over again. This slow and tiring process can take a week (it happened to me sometimes).
When I found out another product in the market where I could:
- pay less,
- pay only for what I used monthly and
- have a private machine in the cloud,
I abbandoned 4java. Since they were still my registrar, I waited until I had to renew my term and I fired a registrar transfer. So far so good, until I had to move my DNS from 4java to the new one. The tool they offered at the time didn't show me my DNS records so I tried to get in touch with them to retrieve it. They said: "Let us know your new DNS servers so that we can have this added for you on the Registrar's end.". I pointed my registrar to the new DNS so I could have access to it and sent them the new DNS.. Here's what they said: "The DNS zone file does no longer exist since the domain was terminated and closed from the server."
Well. you had an idea.. ;)
