In the mid-90s we started offering web hosting tariffs for German companies. At the time, reseller-enabled hosting was only available in the US.At that time we started directly with virtual servers on BSD Unix and offered web hosting for companies in Germany at really favorable conditions. At that time, a .de domain cost a few hundred DM per year.
Fortunately, those times are over. Today we have optimized rack servers from Dell in use that are very easy to maintain during operation and offer ideal conditions for a virtual infrastructure. The performance of 10 servers that were still popular 5 years ago can now handle 1 server and that with a lower power consumption than an older server.
