🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain Registration Own datacenter⇔ Redirected domains: servetheworld.net onnet.no
ServeTheWorld AS is a long-running Norwegian hosting and infrastructure provider serving customers from Oslo, Norway. The original servetheworld.net domain currently leads to stw.no, where the company operates its modern hosting platform in both English and Norwegian Bokmål. The English version is available and usable for international customers, although some prices appear in EUR while newer services are listed in NOK, so the final checkout currency should be verified before ordering.
ServeTheWorld has been active in hosting since 1999, while ServeTheWorld AS was incorporated in 2004. Fredrik Rovik is connected with the company as founder / co-founder and CEO. The business remains especially relevant for customers who want hosting under Norwegian jurisdiction, local technical support, and infrastructure located in Norway rather than a generic offshore hosting setup.
Their product range is broad and practical: domain registration, DNS, shared hosting, WordPress hosting, email hosting, Linux VPS, Windows VPS, virtual dedicated servers, dedicated servers, colocation, SSL certificates, backup-related services and server management options. They are also relevant for .no domain customers, with domain tools for DNS records, name servers, forwarding, registrar lock and transfer code management.
The shared hosting line is simple and business-friendly, with plans such as GH20, GH21 and GH22. These packages include NVMe storage, email accounts, MySQL databases, Let’s Encrypt SSL, anti-spam and anti-virus filtering, webmail, visitor statistics and hosting control panel access. This makes them a reasonable choice for small company websites, personal websites and customers who need website hosting with email included.
The WordPress hosting line is stronger for customers who want better WordPress performance without managing a VPS. Plans such as WP10, WP11 and WP12 include NVMe storage, Redis Cache, AccelerateWP, WordPress Toolkit, daily backup, email, unlimited traffic and WordPress pre-installed. This gives the WordPress product a more complete managed-hosting feel compared with basic shared hosting.
Their newer VPS platform is one of the strongest parts of the company. The GP3 Linux VPS, WGP3 Windows VPS and VD1 virtual dedicated server lines use Proxmox + Ceph clusters, enterprise NVMe storage and AMD EPYC processors. Linux VPS plans include defined CPU, RAM, storage and bandwidth tiers, while Windows VPS includes licensed Windows Server. VD1 is more suitable for predictable workloads because the virtual CPU cores are mapped 1:1 to physical cores.
The dedicated server service is built around AMD Ryzen and AMD EPYC hardware, with build-to-order configurations, 1 Gbit/s included ports, traffic quotas, network upgrades and optional Proxmox VE. This line is better suited for customers that need single-tenant hardware, sustained CPU power, custom storage, virtualization nodes or stronger control over the operating system.
The colocation service is an important differentiator because ServeTheWorld operates data center infrastructure in Oslo. Customers can host their own physical servers in the facility, with redundant infrastructure, strong security, traffic allowances and 24/7 on-call coverage for critical infrastructure issues. Colocation is available for 1U equipment, with extra charges for larger servers, extra ports, extra IP addresses, firewall service, setup and electricity.
In October 2025, ServeTheWorld acquired OnNet customers after OnNet’s founder passed away. This acquisition was a continuity-focused move, especially since OnNet’s servers had already been hosted with ServeTheWorld for many years.
💰 Price & Cost
ServeTheWorld’s pricing is generally transparent, but not perfectly uniform across all service categories. Some domain and hosting prices are shown in EUR, while newer services such as WordPress hosting, email hosting, VPS and dedicated servers are mostly shown in NOK. International buyers should check the final billing currency before completing an order.
Domain pricing starts around €14/year for .no, €15/year for .com and €13/year for .net. Shared hosting starts from about €5/month, with larger plans around €9–€10/month depending on package. WordPress hosting has promotional entry pricing from NOK 29/month for WP10, with larger plans from NOK 49/month and NOK 79/month during the first invoice discount period.
Email hosting is available through two main paid plans. The Mail Plan starts from NOK 19/month on annual billing or NOK 24/month on monthly billing. The Productivity Plan starts from NOK 49/month on annual billing or NOK 59/month on monthly billing, adding cloud storage, online office tools, collaboration features, calendars, contacts and optional extras such as AI Assistant and OX Guard encryption.
The GP3 Linux VPS line starts from low monthly promotional pricing, with entry plans from NOK 39/month during the discount period. Windows VPS costs more because the Windows Server license is included. VD1 virtual dedicated servers start from NOK 119.50/month during the initial promotional period for the smallest listed plan.
Dedicated servers start from around NOK 1873/month for an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X configuration, while AMD EPYC configurations are priced higher. Monthly, quarterly and yearly billing terms are available, with discounts for longer commitments.
Colocation starts from NOK 590/month for the Medium plan, while Large and Premium plans cost slightly more. Additional costs can apply for larger-than-1U equipment, extra network ports, additional IP addresses, firewall service, setup and power usage.
Payment methods include card, PayPal, bank transfer / invoice and selected digital currencies. Refund terms are favorable, but they vary by service. Web hosting and WordPress hosting include a 90-day money-back guarantee. Dedicated server terms also include a 90-day money-back framework for standard listed configurations, while custom configurations require individual agreement. The newer VPS product page uses a 30-day full refund for individual VPS orders, so VPS customers should check the current checkout terms before purchase.
🏢 Data Center
ServeTheWorld’s strongest advantage is their Norwegian infrastructure. They operate a modern data center in Oslo, Norway, with capacity for around 4,000 servers. The facility includes redundant network lines, redundant UPS systems, A/B power, firewall protection, diesel generator backup and 24/7 camera monitoring. For customers with Norwegian or Nordic audiences, this is valuable for latency, data sovereignty, GDPR alignment and local legal jurisdiction.
Dedicated servers are deployed across three central Oslo data centers, using ServeTheWorld facilities and selected partner locations. The infrastructure uses redundant power and network design, while dedicated server customers receive a 99.99% availability SLA for power and network. For web hosting, WordPress hosting and VPS, the legal terms define 99.9% uptime. Colocation includes a stronger 100% uptime guarantee for core infrastructure such as switches, lines and power, with service credits if the guarantee is not met.
The VPS environment uses high-availability clusters with Proxmox + Ceph, AMD EPYC processors, DDR5 memory, Samsung PM9A3 enterprise NVMe drives and high-capacity uplinks. The GP3, WGP3 and VD1 lines are especially clear about hardware, traffic limits, port speeds, oversubscription policy and power draw estimates.
ServeTheWorld operates AS34989 / SERVETHEWORLD-AS. Public network information shows upstream and network relationships including Nexthop AS (nexthop.no), Hurricane Electric and Blacknight. Their recent network upgrades include a 400 Gb/s uplink to Amsterdam and a 100 Gb/s port at NIX, the Norwegian Internet Exchange. This gives their network a stronger Nordic and European backbone profile than many small web hosting companies.
✍️ Customer Support
Support is available by phone, email, contact form, customer portal and knowledge base. The main phone number is +47 22 22 28 80, with normal working hours listed as 09:00–16:00 CET/CEST. Sales and support email requests normally receive replies within 24 hours.
For shared hosting, WordPress, domain and email customers, support by phone and email is included. Colocation and dedicated server customers also benefit from 24/7 on-call coverage for critical infrastructure situations, although some after-hours colocation work may be billed separately.
The knowledge base is useful and covers account management, web hosting, email clients, WordPress, domains, DNS, SSL certificates, VPS, dedicated servers, Plesk and Acronis Backup Cloud. The support model is especially attractive for customers who prefer a local Norwegian team with direct access to infrastructure rather than a purely outsourced first-line support desk.
For unmanaged VPS and dedicated servers, customers remain responsible for the operating system, security, patches and applications unless a separate management agreement is purchased.
🔨 Control Panel
ServeTheWorld uses its own customer portal / account control panel for billing, account administration, service management, domains, DNS and server controls. Domain customers can manage DNS records, name servers, forwarding, registrar lock and EPP transfer codes.
VPS customers can start, stop, restart, reinstall, change passwords, upload ISO images and manage access from the portal. Dedicated server customers can manage server and network details, traffic usage, IP addresses, reboot and power-cycle actions, OS reinstall, ISO usage, disk clearing, recovery tools and BMC reset options.
For shared hosting and WordPress hosting, the platform uses Plesk. WordPress customers also get WordPress Toolkit, which helps with centralized WordPress administration, updates, security, SSL management and site maintenance. Softaculous, phpMyAdmin, FTP/SSH, webmail and related hosting tools are also supported.
Customers using Proxmox VE on dedicated servers get the Proxmox web interface for virtual machines, containers, firewall rules, snapshots and backups.
🎯 Conclusion
ServeTheWorld is a strong choice for customers who want Norwegian hosting, Oslo-based infrastructure, Norwegian data storage, and a provider with real technical depth behind the brand. Their best services are VPS, VDS, dedicated servers and colocation, because these products benefit directly from their own Oslo data center footprint, AS34989 network, Proxmox/Ceph platform and infrastructure engineering.Shared hosting, WordPress hosting and email hosting are also solid choices for small businesses, professionals and local Norwegian customers who want domains, websites and mail under one provider. WordPress hosting is especially appealing because it combines NVMe storage, Redis Cache, AccelerateWP, Plesk WordPress Toolkit, daily backups and free migration.
The main weakness is pricing and documentation consistency. The English site is functional, but some prices use EUR while newer services use NOK, and a few legal/product details differ between older terms and newer service pages. This is not a major infrastructure concern, but customers should verify final pricing, refund rules and SLA terms before ordering.
Overall, ServeTheWorld is not a generic reseller-style hosting brand. They are an established Norwegian infrastructure provider with local data center operations, modern VPS services, dedicated server options, colocation and a support model suitable for customers who value control, locality and data sovereignty.

😠 Tried to order a dedicated server here. It says delivered within 24h. In reality, it took us a week of back and forth. They were requesting all kinds of documents, which we provided right away.
A WEEK mind you, it took a whole week, unheard of in my 10 years as a web developer. It looks like there are only two people working at this company, one support guy and one sales guy - Frederick, who works odd hours and is practically impossible to reach by phone.
We got tired of wasting time, so we went ahead and bought a dedicatd server from a company in Switzerland, which got delivered within 1-2 hours.
Such a scam and waste of time. Once we let servetheworld know that we grew tired of waiting and purchased a hosting somewhere else, they fired back WITHIN the minute that we haven't passed their security check, as if a photo of an id, along with a document that verifies an address is not enough. They even asked us, why do we use protonmail? Because it has end-to-end user [read more...]
