Welcome to the UY Domain Registry, a public service provided by the University of the Republic in the SeCIU (Central Service of University Computing) since April 1990.As of July 10, 2012, the registration and use of domain names of "second level UY” or “directly under .UY” (for example: mydomain.uy), this being one more option than joins the already existing “third level” domains under EDU.UY, ORG.UY, NET.UY, GUB.UY, MIL.UY and COM.UY.
For such purposes, the Domain Name Registration Instructions under UY have been modified to incorporate this new type of domain names, and in which it is established that these will be for general use, being able to register domains any natural or legal person, within the terms that the same Instruction establishes.
To register a "second level UY" domain, the owner must provide an address constituted within the Uruguayan territory.
The exemption from the cost of registration and maintenance of domains whose ownership is corresponds to a public education institution or body.
