The key activities of the association include operation of the domain name registry for the .CZ domain, operation of the CZ top-level domain and public education in the area of domain names. The association is now intensively working on development of the DNSSEC technology and mojeID service, extension and improvements of the domain administration system and support of new technologies and projects beneficial to the Internet infrastructure in the Czech Republic.CZ.NIC, z. s. p. o., is an interest association of legal entities, founded in 1998 by leading providers of Internet services. The association currently has 117 members.
CZ.NIC protects the confidentiality of assets from unauthorized disclosure. The Association implements its security policy consistently, systematically and economically. In 2013, the Czech national domain administrator was granted the internationally recognized certification for information security management system (ISMS) complying with ISO 27001.
The Distributed Domain Administration - New Generation (DSDng) system is used for administration of the .cz and 0.2.4.e164.arpa (ENUM) domains. The system was developed by CZ.NIC during 2006 and 2007. On 1/10/2007, the DSDng replaced the older DSD system.
The distributed registration system solution is deployed in three parallel and independent locations, with all network connections backed up by two independent routes. Two locations have their own independent connection both into the two peering centers nodes - NIX.CZ and to the abroad, the third location has the connection to peering centre NIX.SK and to abroad as well. All connections use IPv4 and IPv6 protocol
