KIO is a Mexican enterprise technology and digital-infrastructure group founded in 2002 by Sergio Rosengaus and Antonio Rallo. From its origins in Mexico, the company has grown into a substantial Latin American provider of data centers, cloud infrastructure, managed IT, cybersecurity and network services. A major corporate change took place in 2021, when infrastructure investment manager I Squared Capital completed the acquisition of KIO Networks.

KIO's business is divided between enterprise IT services and physical data-center infrastructure. KIO IT Services covers hybrid cloud, managed applications and infrastructure, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, automation and networking, while KIO Data Centers concentrates on colocation, wholesale deployments, hyperscale capacity, Build-to-Suit projects and interconnection. The portfolio is therefore considerably more enterprise-oriented than conventional shared web hosting.

KIO Cloud provides Infrastructure as a Service based on VMware, Oracle PCA and IBM Power environments, with migration, cloud onboarding, governance, FinOps, disaster recovery, backup, SAP infrastructure and multicloud connectivity available around the core platform. Public-cloud integration includes AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, together with Huawei Cloud. This makes hybrid and multicloud deployments practical for companies that do not want their infrastructure tied to a single platform.

KIO Cloud On Demand provides VMware-based pools of compute, storage and network resources. Packages combine vCPU, RAM, storage and Internet bandwidth with software-defined networking, hypervisor-level monitoring and a self-service provisioning portal. Optional services include managed operating systems, databases and applications, advanced monitoring, load balancing, DNS, SD-WAN, CDN, Cloud On-Ramp, IPS/IDS, antivirus, anti-DDoS protection, WAF, SOC services, Backup as a Service and Disaster Recovery as a Service.

Managed infrastructure extends considerably beyond virtual-machine hosting. KIO handles operating systems, databases, storage, backup, hypervisors, middleware, enterprise networks and business applications including ERP, CRM, business intelligence, e-commerce and logistics platforms. Its managed-services environment handles more than 60 PB of storage, making this side of the business suitable for large and mission-critical workloads.

Cybersecurity is another important part of the platform. The Cyber SOC operates continuously and includes managed detection and response, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, exposure management, threat intelligence, incident response, anti-DDoS protection, WAF, NGFW, SASE, CASB, endpoint security, privileged-access management, ZTNA, DLP and database and OT security. KIO maintains a 99.28% cybersecurity SLA compliance rate and manages more than 2,200 security devices.

AI and automation services are built around tools such as Prophecy, which combines infrastructure and application observability with AI-assisted analytics, proactive incident detection and automation. This adds another layer for enterprise customers that need to monitor complex environments rather than simply operate individual virtual servers.

Network services include Dedicated Internet Access, Data Center Interconnect, Cloud On-Ramp, SD-WAN, managed networking and Network as a Service. Enterprise connectivity is available at capacities from 1 to 10 Gbps, with direct links to major public-cloud platforms and integration with Megaport (megaport.com) for wider multicloud connectivity. Data Center Interconnect is designed for replication, continuity and disaster-recovery architectures, with a maximum latency SLA of 7 ms between supported KIO locations.

The main corporate services are available in English and Spanish. The KIOmmerce self-service cloud storefront is primarily Spanish-language and lists Cloud On Demand pricing in USD. Most data-center, cybersecurity, managed-services and enterprise infrastructure contracts are prepared individually rather than sold through a conventional consumer hosting checkout.

💰 Price & Cost

KIO Cloud On Demand provides the clearest public pricing within the portfolio. The entry-level XS resource pool starts at USD 665.74, with 16 GB RAM, 8 vCPU, 2 TB of storage, 50 MB of Internet bandwidth and capacity for up to four virtual machines. The S and M resource pools start at USD 1,057.48 and USD 1,840.96 respectively.

The larger L resource pool starts at USD 3,532.84 and provides 128 GB RAM, 64 vCPU, 12 TB storage, 200 MB Internet bandwidth and capacity for up to 32 virtual machines. The storefront does not clearly associate a billing interval with these starting figures, so the amounts should not automatically be treated as monthly charges.

Additional compute, storage, managed administration, monitoring, security, backup, disaster recovery and connectivity can increase the final cost. Colocation, wholesale, hyperscale, managed IT, cybersecurity and most network services use customized quotations according to required capacity and service levels.

There is no standard consumer-style money-back guarantee across the enterprise portfolio, while payment methods are generally handled as part of the commercial agreement rather than through a retail hosting checkout.

🏢 Data Center

Data-center infrastructure is one of KIO's principal strengths. KIO Data Centers operates more than 15 facilities across Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Colombia, supporting conventional enterprise colocation as well as large hyperscale deployments.

The infrastructure is divided into several deployment models. Retail Colocation is intended for requirements below approximately 200 kW, while Wholesale Colocation covers larger projects from around 200 kW to 2 MW. Hyperscale infrastructure supports deployments of 2 MW and above, including high-density environments and dedicated halls. Build-to-Suit projects can accommodate customized installations starting around 4 MW.

Mexico contains the majority of the footprint, including MEX1, MEX2 and MEX3 in Santa Fe, MEX4 in Interlomas, MEX5 in Tultitlán, MEX6 in Lerma, QRO1 and QRO2 in Querétaro, MTY1 in Monterrey, HER1 in Hermosillo and MER1 in Mérida. Regional facilities include GTM1 in Guatemala, PAN1 in Panama Pacifico, SDO1 in Santo Domingo and BOG1 in Bogotá. Additional developments such as MEX8 and GTM2 expand the platform further.

The facilities use different resilience profiles according to location and project requirements. MEX2 uses a Tier IV-level design, MEX3 is Tier III certified, QRO1 follows a Tier III-level architecture with 2N electrical redundancy, GTM1 has Tier IV design characteristics, and PAN1 and BOG1 are Tier III certified. SDO1 combines a Tier IV-level design with infrastructure engineered for the hurricane conditions that can affect the Caribbean.

QRO1 contains seven data halls with approximately 5,166 m² of technical space, a 2N electrical architecture, extensive UPS and generator capacity and fuel autonomy of up to seven days. MEX2 combines 2N electrical infrastructure with N+2 cooling and a design PUE of approximately 1.5. Continuous monitoring, redundant fiber routes, controlled physical access and carrier-neutral connectivity are standard characteristics of the enterprise facilities.

KIO uses approximately 79% renewable energy across its campuses and has continued expanding its data-center capacity throughout Latin America. Investment in the platform has exceeded USD 900 million since I Squared Capital entered the business. QRO2 represents an investment of around USD 170 million, while additional expansion projects in Mexico City, Monterrey and Querétaro have added more than USD 200 million in planned investment. A future QRO3 project in Querétaro could eventually reach around 100 MW of capacity.

Carrier-neutral connectivity gives customers access to multiple network operators rather than locking deployments to a single telecom provider. The ecosystem includes Arelion, Cogent, DE-CIX and numerous regional carriers, together with public-cloud and interconnection platforms. Cross-connects, private cloud connectivity, Internet transit and inter-data-center links can therefore be combined according to each deployment.

KIO also operates its own network infrastructure through Sixsigma Networks Mexico / KIO Networks, AS22908, with an open peering policy and presence at IXP.MX. This gives the company direct network capabilities in addition to its carrier-neutral data-center services.

Data-center services can reach an uptime SLA of 99.999%, depending on the facility and contracted service. Cloud On Demand also operates with continuous 24/7 infrastructure support, although the cloud resource pools do not use one universal numeric uptime commitment across every service configuration.

✍️ Customer Support

KIO uses an enterprise managed-support model rather than a conventional retail hosting help desk. The Digital Service Desk operates 24/7, while managed infrastructure customers receive continuous technical assistance for critical systems. Cybersecurity monitoring through the SOC also runs around the clock.

Data-center facilities maintain 24x7x365 operational monitoring, allowing infrastructure, connectivity and environmental conditions to be supervised continuously. Managed-service customers can use KIO as a single technical contact for operating systems, databases, storage, applications, networking and infrastructure.

Network services add continuous monitoring, change management, analytics and proactive handling of degraded connections or failures. This type of support is particularly suitable for companies outsourcing significant parts of their infrastructure operations.

Initial sales and project discussions are generally handled through dedicated contact channels and account teams. This approach works well for complex deployments, although it is less immediate than the live-chat and instant-account model commonly used by consumer web-hosting companies.

🔨 Control Panel

KIO does not center its service around a traditional shared-hosting control panel such as cPanel or Plesk. KIO Cloud On Demand uses its own self-service provisioning portal, giving customers direct control over their virtual infrastructure.

The VMware-based environment allows resources such as vCPU, RAM and storage to be provisioned and scaled as required. Hypervisor-level monitoring for processor, memory and disk resources is included.

Software-defined networking includes distributed switching, NAT gateway functions, DHCP, IPsec tunnels and related virtual-network features. Companies requiring less hands-on administration can combine the portal with KIO's managed infrastructure services, creating either a self-managed or fully managed operating model.

🎯 Conclusion

KIO is especially suitable for organizations that need enterprise cloud infrastructure, colocation, managed IT, cybersecurity and strong Latin American data-center coverage rather than inexpensive shared hosting. Its most important advantage is the ability to combine physical data-center infrastructure, private and public cloud resources, networking, cybersecurity and managed operations within the same provider ecosystem.

The infrastructure can scale from virtual resources in KIO Cloud to rack colocation, private connectivity, disaster-recovery environments, wholesale capacity and multi-megawatt hyperscale installations. Customers can also integrate AWS, Azure and Google Cloud while retaining KIO infrastructure for private workloads or regional data residency.

The combination of 15+ data centers, up to 99.999% data-center uptime SLA, AS22908 network infrastructure, 24/7 technical operations, hybrid cloud and extensive managed services gives KIO a particularly complete enterprise infrastructure platform in Mexico and Latin America. Its quote-based commercial model and enterprise focus make it less appropriate for small websites looking for basic shared hosting, but considerably stronger for organizations running critical and complex infrastructure.
