XConnect Forms Korean Peering Group - London-based Voice-over-IP and Next Generation Network peering provider XConnect (www.xconnect.net) has entered an exclusive agreement with Korea's largest ISP exchange and collocation facility, Korea Internet Neutral Exchange (www.kinx.net), to launch a Korean peering federation for IP communications.
According to XConnect's Thursday announcement, the new joint venture will provide advanced VoIP and NGN peering capabilities to Korea's IP communications providers, including mobile, fixed-line and Web-based service providers. The new federation lets Korean operators exchange calls through IP interconnection, increasing call quality and reducing unnecessary transit costs. Peering also enables these operators to securely offer services that the PSTN cannot carry, such as video and high-definition voice, across network boundaries."Multi-lateral peering reduces risk and complexity in a chaotic market," Yankee Group vice president Camille Mendler said in a statement.
