📄 Editorial Review
(3*) 🔧 Services: Data CenterCloud Own datacenterITENOS is a German ICT, cloud, connectivity and data-center provider headquartered in Bonn. Its origins go back to a project group formed in 1992, while International Telecom Network Operation Services GmbH was formally entered in the German commercial register on November 16, 1993. The founding partners were DETECON GmbH, T.D.T. GmbH and GRICON GmbH. DETECON later became the sole shareholder, and ITENOS became a subsidiary of T-Data in 2000, placing the company within the Deutsche Telekom (telekom.com) group.
ITENOS has around 250 employees and focuses primarily on infrastructure and managed ICT solutions for German SMEs, larger businesses and organizations with demanding availability, security and data-sovereignty requirements. Lars Neumann became Managing Director for Sales and Solutions in July 2025, joining Stefan Schneider, while Nils Kempgen joined the management team as Chief Operating Officer on September 1, 2026.
This is not a conventional mass-market web host built around inexpensive Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting or standardized VPS plans. ITENOS operates at a more advanced infrastructure level, combining Dedicated Server Hosting, Colocation, Public and Private Cloud, Managed IT, Connectivity, Internet Transit, Backup, Disaster Recovery, Security and Data-Center Services. Customers looking for a simple cPanel hosting package are therefore outside its main target group, while organizations requiring customized infrastructure in Germany fit the company considerably better.
The website is available in German and English and has a modern, responsive design. Services are primarily aimed at professional and enterprise customers rather than small personal websites.
The connectivity portfolio is extensive. Business Internet Service combines site networking with technologies such as xDSL, FTTH, LTE and 5G, together with managed routers and integration with MPLS or SD-WAN environments. ProtectService uses a closed IP/MPLS environment with managed routers, carrier management, Internet breakout, SD-WAN and SIP voice options. Separate SD-WAN, Ethernet Connect and MPLS services cover software-defined networking, point-to-point and multi-site Ethernet connectivity, and traditional private corporate networking.
Internet-facing infrastructure includes DE-CIX Connect, DataLogistIX, Multihoming / IP Access and Internet Access Management. DE-CIX Connect gives customers low-latency peering access to more than 900 carriers and over 15,000 interconnects. Multihoming connects customers through the ITENOS IP backbone and several Tier-1 carriers, including Deutsche Telekom connectivity.
The ITENOS backbone uses AS50533, while direct Deutsche Telekom connectivity uses AS3320. DataLogistIX combines IP Transit, IP Access, cloud connectivity, Ethernet and related network services on a common connectivity platform, making the service particularly useful for companies operating hybrid infrastructure across several locations.
Cloud Connect extends this network infrastructure directly into public-cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, together with Deutsche Telekom cloud infrastructure. This makes it possible to build hybrid and multicloud environments without depending entirely on the public Internet.
Data-center services center on Colocation and controlled infrastructure access. Colocation can range from individual racks to secured cages and dedicated rooms, with redundant electrical supply, cooling, emergency power, electronic and physical access controls, and around-the-clock infrastructure monitoring. Access-control services add centrally managed protection for technical areas, buildings and sensitive facilities.
The cloud portfolio starts with ITENOS Multicloud, combining public, private and hybrid infrastructure. Multicloud Campus provides individual virtual machines on shared infrastructure with rapid provisioning, backup options, high availability, a customer portal and self-service administration. Geo-redundant configurations can distribute workloads between Frankfurt-Kleyerstraße and Hamburg-Ahrensburg.
Multicloud Private moves the same concept onto dedicated customer hardware and supports customized network and storage architectures. It is suitable for companies with stricter security, compliance, data-sovereignty or critical-infrastructure requirements.
Multicloud Private AI adds private AI infrastructure inside German data centers, allowing sensitive datasets and AI workloads to remain within controlled private-cloud environments.
Server Hosting is the ITENOS product closest to conventional dedicated hosting. Customers receive individually configured dedicated servers and storage and can choose between root/self-service operation and a managed server model. Hybrid combinations of physical servers and virtualized cloud resources are also possible.
Cloud SBC provides a cloud-based Session Border Controller for SIP and enterprise voice integration. PaaS adds operating systems, databases, web servers, mail services, DNS, NTP, proxy services and runtime environments from public or private cloud infrastructure, including containerized environments based on Docker.
Managed services include IT 4 Network Services, which combines centralized Internet breakout, VPN, networking, firewalls and hosting; Managed Office 365 Backup for independent Microsoft 365 backups; Veeam Cloud Backup for Backup-as-a-Service and Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service; the IT Service Desk; and Managed Mail Security for enterprise spam and malware filtering.
The certification portfolio is extensive and includes ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, ISO 27018, ISO/IEC 20000-1, ISO 22301, ISO 50001 and ISO/IEC 27701. These cover quality management, information security, cloud security, IT service management, business continuity, energy management and privacy information management.
💰 Price & Cost
ITENOS follows an enterprise consultation and quotation model instead of publishing a retail hosting price list. Server configurations, colocation footprints, connectivity, cloud infrastructure and managed-service projects are individually planned according to customer requirements.
Some commercial models are clear even without fixed prices. IT 4 Network Services can be delivered through managed fixed-fee arrangements, while Microsoft 365 backup is based on user-oriented licensing. Multicloud Campus distributes shared platform costs among customers, while dedicated private environments are individually dimensioned.
There is no standard consumer-style money-back guarantee or public refund program associated with these services. Accepted payment methods are not presented as part of a retail checkout process, and there is no conventional currency selector because customers receive individual business quotations. For organizations comparing enterprise infrastructure, the final monthly or project cost depends on capacity, redundancy, management level, connectivity and contractual SLA requirements.
🏢 Data Center
Data-center infrastructure is one of ITENOS's main strengths. They operate their own carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral facilities in Germany, with locations in Berlin, Bonn, Düsseldorf/Hilden, Frankfurt, Hamburg/Ahrensburg, Leverkusen, Munich/Unterschleißheim and Stuttgart/Böblingen. Colocation can range from individual racks to cages and dedicated rooms, backed by redundant UPS systems, emergency power, cooling, fire protection, controlled access and 24/7 monitoring.
The Berlin facility provides more than 2,600 m² and approximately 1.7 MW of capacity in a Tier-3 environment. Bonn operates on a smaller scale, with approximately 375 m² and redundant technical infrastructure.
In the Düsseldorf region, Düsseldorf-Hilden (DUS2) currently provides roughly 3,600 m² and is designed for expansion toward 10,000 m² and 20 MW. This gives ITENOS substantial room for larger colocation and infrastructure projects.
Frankfurt is the most important connectivity hub in the portfolio. ITENOS operates three Frankfurt-area facilities. Frankfurt-Kleyerstraße (FRA1) exceeds 14,000 m² and sits inside one of Germany's most important carrier ecosystems, with access to more than 900 carriers and 15,000 interconnects. Frankfurt-Rödelheim (FRA2) is connected to Kleyerstraße through redundant infrastructure, while Frankfurt-Eschborn (FRA3) adds nearly 2,500 m² and approximately 2.4 MW of capacity.
Hamburg is served by Hamburg-Mitte (HAM1) and the much larger Hamburg-Ahrensburg (HAM2) campus. Ahrensburg is designed for expansion toward approximately 10,000 m² and 20 MW at full development and incorporates DIN EN 50600 Level 3 and ISO-certified infrastructure.
ITENOS also operates around 2,000 m² in Leverkusen, while the Munich-area data center in Unterschleißheim provides approximately 6,300 m² with about 9.7 MW of power capacity.
The Stuttgart region includes facilities in Vaihingen and Böblingen, with Tier-2, Tier-2+ and Tier-3 environments depending on the site. Böblingen is designed for substantial expansion, while the Vaihingen Tier-3 infrastructure adds capacity and connectivity to the wider DataLogistIX network.
Network connectivity is a major advantage. ITENOS operates its own IP backbone under AS50533, while DataLogistIX can provide direct IP Transit into Deutsche Telekom AS3320 as well as access to other Tier-1 carriers. DE-CIX peering, IP Access, Ethernet, cloud interconnects and BGP routing are available within the same infrastructure ecosystem. Frankfurt-Kleyerstraße is especially suitable for network-intensive deployments because of its dense carrier and interconnection environment.
Availability is handled through service-specific SLA and OLA agreements. Tier-3 data-center infrastructure uses a 99.98% availability benchmark, corresponding to approximately 1.6 hours of theoretical annual downtime. ITENOS also participates in Deutsche Telekom's Zero Outage framework. Individual cloud, colocation and managed-service contracts can include their own availability and response commitments.
✍️ Customer Support
ITENOS operates a dedicated 24/7 IT Service Desk in Bonn, Germany. It serves as a central contact point for monitoring, incident handling, service requests and coordination with other technical teams.
The service desk has virtually 100% accessibility, average waiting times of only a few seconds and an incident-response target of no more than 30 minutes for initiating response measures. Incidents and service requests are handled according to the SLA or OLA attached to the customer's service.
Sales can be reached at +49 228 7293-4321 or vertrieb@itenos.de, while the Bonn head office can be contacted at +49 228 7293-0 or info@itenos.de. An online contact form is also available.
The support model is substantially more appropriate for managed enterprise infrastructure than for standard low-cost shared hosting, especially where network, cloud and data-center services need to be coordinated through a single operational team.
🔨 Control Panel
ITENOS does not center its server products around conventional hosting control panels such as cPanel or Plesk. Dedicated Server Hosting can be operated as a root/self-service server or placed under ITENOS management. In a managed environment, customers continue to control their applications while ITENOS handles agreed infrastructure, operating-system and platform responsibilities.
Multicloud Campus includes self-service functionality and a customer portal for managing virtual machines. ITENOS also provides its dedicated customer portal through kupo.itenos.de.
The management model is therefore oriented toward infrastructure and enterprise cloud administration rather than the domain, mailbox, FTP and database controls normally associated with consumer Shared Hosting.
🎯 Conclusion
ITENOS is particularly suitable for companies that need infrastructure physically located in Germany and want networking, cloud, colocation, dedicated hardware and managed operations from the same provider. Its strongest advantages are the breadth of the German data-center footprint, the Frankfurt connectivity ecosystem, direct DE-CIX and Tier-1 connectivity, its own AS50533 backbone, extensive ISO certifications and the availability of a 24/7 German service desk. The combination of Colocation, Dedicated Server Hosting, Multicloud, Private Cloud, Private AI, PaaS, Backup, Disaster Recovery and carrier-grade connectivity makes ITENOS a strong option for complex business deployments where a simple VPS or Shared Hosting package would not be sufficient. Geo-redundant cloud options and combinations of dedicated hardware with virtualized infrastructure add further flexibility.
The main limitation for smaller customers is that services are based on individual consultation instead of transparent standardized hosting plans. There is no conventional cPanel or Plesk package catalog, no public retail price matrix and no consumer-style money-back offer. ITENOS is therefore much better suited to organizations prepared to define technical requirements and obtain a customized proposal than to customers searching primarily for inexpensive website hosting.
