😠 Keep away...
Before they changed ownerwship they were just fine.
Then everything went to hell.
First of all till they changed ownership they used to send you invoices to pay and renew.
Suddenly their system became autorenew and they auto-charged my credit card with a hosting I didnt want to renew. No refund of course.

They lock your domains you purchased from them and you need to open 20different support tickets to get YOUR domain unlocked and transfered away.
Their packages are now more expensive than they deserve, and uptime is not good.

A typical example of a nice small company that was bought by a bigger (?) one and got ruined.
Hostican is not what it used to be. I am taking ALL of my sites from them.

😠 I was hosting a forum and 3 MMORPG's using 2 dedicated servers paying over $1200 a month. My forum has over 22000 users and growing each day. Hostican shut our dedicated servers off WITHOUT warning when we was getting DDos attacked. They was then unable to bring the servers up for atleast a week. I was waiting around 2 days for a answer via there ticket system and calling them over the phone was useless also as they would refer you to the ticket system. The only solution they came up with was to reinstall Windows on the dedicated servers which was a completely stupid idea as it hosted all of our customers payment details. By law we could not loose them for over 6 years. However that was then resolved as i threatened to sue them if they did. Now they have completely shut me off and have not provided me with a reason. DONT use Hostican if you are a large business or have a high demand of traffic. Hostican? More like Hosticant!

😠 Hostican and their new corporate overlords jumpline.com should both be avoided at all cost. My website is offline every couple of days. Think about it; they suck so bad that you can't even load jumpline.com with out a time out error or a 403 error. I mean really this in incompetence at the highest level.

😞 This is a crap company with the worst support I have ever came across - I would advice dealing with it only if you are looking for trouble. I have registered domain name with them, which I have lost 3 years later - they simply "forgot" to tell me that I have to extend this name, denied that they have registered it, after I have proved it with whois. info, said, that they have sent me a mail - no copy of this provided on my request, ignoring my letters ever since. This happenned for the 2nd year in a row - last time I was lucky it was on the grace period.
So, have a look at memorycemetery.com - I had this site for years with stable traffic, now they sold it cybersquatters and ignore any requests for help.
They also always trying to squeeze an extra buck, customer support is rude and replies sometimes days later, if at all.
Finally I moved to Hostgator and happy with them.
Hostican sucks.

😞 I have used HostICan for several years with several accounts, they used to be pretty good. Lately there has been reliability issues, with uptime being fairly spotty. Sites go down regularly. And this is when I finally noticed their real problem, their truly horrible support.

They claim 24/7 support, but it is pretty much business hours only. Every time I try phone support, it goes straight to voice mail. support tickets are fairly unresponsive. Live chat goes to leave a message as often as it goes to actually chat, and even then the person you talk to almost always says they can not help and suggests you submit a ticket.

I am having to spend more money to change to a new host because their service and support are just not good enough for a business.

If you are running a business, I would not suggest them as an option.

😠 HostICan refuses to honor its "30 Days No Questions Asked Money Back Guarantee" as defined here: http://www.hostican.com/whyus/guarantees.php and refund the money for the services they never provided. Here are the details of my communication with them in an attempt to receive my money back:

6/04/2010- Purchased a 6-Months “VPS Extreme” hosting package. $519.70 was paid via PayPal
6/22/2010- Canceled the service and asked for a refund per the guarantee. I submitted a cancellation and a refund request #THT-759551. Was promised the refund within 5 days.
6/28/2010- I have sent an email asking for a refund.
7/2/2010- Called the billing dept(Brad), was told the refund will be processed in 5 days.
7/4/2010- Emailed asking for a refund again.
7/9/2010- Opened a new ticket (Ref. # DYN-304071) to expedite the refund for the services.
7/12/2010- I opened a PayPal dispute, case #PP-001-016-538-114, to get my money back.

😠 I purchased a "Tera" package from HostiCan.com about two weeks ago. My Joomla sites had nothing but problems. I couldn't load any plugins, modules, or components. The server would just sit there and spin. They claimed it was a file permissions problem, but it wasn't. Then they claimed it was a script problem, but it wasn't. Then they had me place individual php.ini files in each folder that was going to utilize space. What a joke!

Even though HostiCan.com promises unlimited bandwidth and diskspace, it doesn't provide the servers necessary to smoothly run a CMS. I tried Wordpress, Joomla, SugarCRM, and Moodle, and they all had similar problems as described above.

I have contacted HostiCan support on numerous occasions, each time getting a lame answer, and no solution. Their forum is void of reasonable tech support responses to issues already presented, and when I try to contact the Administrative Offices via telephone, they support people, or phone techs, won't even give me the

😃 The monitoring of hosting accounts seems to be top notch with regards to preventing attacks and maintaining security. Downtime seems to be nonexistent (I have only experienced very brief downtime a couple of times). 😁 HostICan is awesome. I've been with them for some time, they did have pretty bad phone support. However, in December everything with them changed, and I've had nothing but a pleasure in dealing with them.

They answer the phone normally within 5 seconds day or night, and I've been able to get my questions answered quickly and correctly.

😠 I have been with HostIcan for about a year, but decided to change because of the lack of customer support. The site claims 24/7 service, but I personally have never found this to be reliable. They have an answering machine to take customer service calls.

That's not so bad perhaps, but for me - I need a little better service, so I decided to transfer my domain away. That's when the nightmares began. I have been trying to transfer my domain away for about 4 months now, and I get the runaround every step of the way.

Most domain companies require the administrative contact details for security purposes, but HostIcan conveniently have themselves listed as the administrative contact. (There is a big difference between who is listed as the Primary Email address, and who is the Administrative contact email) In any event, when I try to transfer the domain away from HostIcan, they receive the request for transfer, and then just ignore it. I apologize that you have faced such hardship in your domain transfer process. I’ve been looking into your domain name transfer process and have not found any correspondence with our DNS group. They handle all our DNS changes / transfers.

As for ICANN, there is no need to go there, as it will cost you $1,600 to file a complaint with them. However, if you contact us directly at dns(remove)admin[[@]]hostican.com we’ll be glad to work with you on getting your domain transferred.

😠 I started using HostICan (Base Host plan) on the 21st of December, 2007. At first, I was quite pleased with the service. There were a few outages and Internal Server Errors, but they were always explained and dealt with when I sent a support ticket. I was also pleased with the quick responses to these support tickets.

Until the 7th of January. On that day, the first high-load error came. I was quite surprised - traffic on my site had actually dropped by 75% since the first few days that it was up.
I was told that I was allowed to use up to 25% of the system's resources for up to 60 seconds, and I was advised to check my CPU logs to see what was causing the problem.

I found that there were a few scripts that used 0.2 seconds of CPU time every time they were run. At the times the site was taken down, they added up to about 2.5 seconds per minute. Firstly, I would like to mention, that your review is totally biased. Firstly, you claim you only had
5-15 users on the site, but you had over 40,000 posts, not to mention that you had 15,000 members.

The facts are that your site was simply too big. No matter how you try to spam all the forums online by saying that we're to blame. Your completely responsible for your account, content and its usage.

Secondly, not to mention that you've spammed all the forums about us with the same review, (which just makes you look childish) you where also issued a full refund.

Thirdly, your site is/was "gay teen" orientated, which did receive alot of traffic, so your usage
was not exactly, light. We host a number of sites that are adult related, and none of them have issues on shared hosting.

So while you say your totally innocent, this is completely untrue.

😠 I host pictures on their site using the popular Gallery software provided by Fantasico on the Hostican cpanel.

I was not aware that it was using to much cpu. I have no idea until they shut me down for having high cpu usage. I never got notified. They told me to fix it and I tried logging and fix the database but they limit my account so I can't fix it. I tried to download my files thru FTP to host else where. After a few hours of downloading my files at very slow speed, they banned me from getting my files thru ftp. I asked for a partial refund for since I paid for the whole year (only use 4 months). They shut down my account and will not give refund. The honest thing to do is to keep the account open for the remainder of the contract (7 months left). They didn't. They just shut me down and ignore my emails. My lesson is not to pay for hosting for entire year. I hope this post help others also.

Firstly, we would like to start off by saying that this is totally untrue. According to our records, you where provided with a backup for a period of a week (7 days). After which, the backup was removed from the server.

Having said that, in the email when we notified you that you could download the backup at anytime. If you where unable to download the backup (which you currently claim), this is something that your new hosting provider could have helped you with.This is normally due to Internet providers such as Comcast, blocking downloads that exceed a certain amount.

In terms of a refund, we're unable to issue you a refund on the grounds that the shared server was being abused by your software. Per our terms of service, we state clearly, that if this is an abuse case that the customer, forfeits any refunds (just like any provider).

After a few weeks they will close your account without reason keep your money and hold your domain hostage.

😞 I serached a lot for a good hosting, having ready may sites with reviews etc on many hosting companies.Eventually I had shortlisted to a few and contacted each one to get some responses. I must say that HOSTICAN impressed me with their livechat online and I spent quite some time there with the people they had who answered all my questions and doubts and told me that it was an easy process to move the host etc...they even offered to move the files for free etc. I have kep all the conversation logs for anyone that might be interested. In all the conversations they were very clear that I lose nothing in trying as they had a 30 day money back guarantee....If I was not satisfied I could get a refund and not lose anything, specially as I was not going to use their offer for a free domain registration (I already owned the domain).

Having said the above, we are not a Website moving company. However, we always do our put forward our best effort to assist any customer moving from different locations (hosts).

In terms of what you are mentioning here about being ripped off, this is simply not true. We outlined in our Terms of service, that IF you are moving from another host (that is non-cpanel, which in this case is exactly that), and that you cancel your account after your site has been moved there may be a $40 applicable fee for this.

More specifically, to this case, we spent a week moving your content from a non-cpanel hosting account to a cpanel account (as your account was over 10GB). Then you wanted us to troubleshoot your website, and iron out problems that where previously there (before the move). We declined to do so, and you canceled.
