All i can say is steer clear of hostcow!
Their servers were hacked and all the sites were down. They eventually did a restore but my site was never the same again all my hard work now down the drain.
Customer service is slow and almost non existent, telephone numbers you get no answer.

😠 Absolutley useless
This company is without question the worst host in the world let alone africa. They have a 99.9% uptime guaruntee however the site has been down numerous times and when you ask about the 99.9% you get no repsonse. We lost a significant amount of money on our ecommerce site because of the site being down several times. I am glad to say we are moving to webafrica. We will pay more but get better service and an actual uptime of 99.9%.

😠 This must be the most unhelpful unfriendly and clueless company in South Africa. I submitted a request to terminate my account and for them to refund me my money as I am still within the 30day money back guarantee. Their supposed 24/7 online support never works. They take at least 2-3 days to respond to emails and tickets, if you're lucky. I am still awaiting my refund and for someone from their mystical accounts department to contact me. I have tried being polite with them, however this does not seem to work. Still no one contacts you. My new hosting company has sent through numerous requests for my domain name to be transferred, this keeps getting denied. I have had one response from jacques about the reason for the denial, stating that I have not paid for the domain name as it was free with the package and that when I pay for it they will release the name. He doesn't seem to know anything about his own terms of service which state

There is NO way you can get in touch with this provider via their useless online chat or telephone. At this moment I feel this one man band company is ripping me off as I am NOT GETTING what I am paying for. We indeed experience difficulty with the nginx plugin once it became a problem we removed it from all our servers. We hosting +/-7500+ Domains and manage our own dedicated servers. I personally gave you a call and discussed the issue with you directly and mentioned to you that we busy optimizing apache for better performance - nginx replace the apache port and caused the 502's as your post mentioned.
We did make backups of your website on a daily basis and your hosting account was pretty stable up to the nginx issue that was resolved soon after.
We currently have Marcelle, Angelo, Brenwin and myself supporting clients on a daily basis.
Our services just got better and currently moving to a scalable solution (cloud) 2 dedicated servers already placed with SAS drives etc. We also offer a mailfoundry solution for corporate clients.

We indeed experience difficulty with the nginx plugin once it became a problem we removed it from all our servers. We hosting +/-7500+ Domains and manage our own dedicated servers. I personally gave you a call and discussed the issue with you directly and mentioned to you that we busy optimizing apache for better performance - nginx replace the apache port and caused the 502's as your post mentioned.
We did make backups of your website on a daily basis and your hosting account was pretty stable up to the nginx issue that was resolved soon after.
We currently have Marcelle, Angelo, Brenwin and myself supporting clients on a daily basis.
Our services just got better and currently moving to a scalable solution (cloud) 2 dedicated servers already placed with SAS drives etc. We also offer a mailfoundry solution for corporate clients.

😠 I have logged two tickets with Hostcow and it seems that both the tickets i logged went un-answered for w while, then tried calling them directly only to get a voicemail saying that there vaoice mailbox was full. sent them e-mails and still no responses. since joining them i have managed to speak to a physical person only 3 times. all other times i was directed to an auto response e-mail or a voicemail on the telephone number. want to move my domain and logged a ticket with them and no response after 24hours and counting. no one answers the phones and no response to e-mails.
🗨 As of today i see you still a client of HostCow and we will resolve most internal issues to the best of our capabilities. We are here to assist you and will do our best to respond to your queries in a timely manner.
