😠 Hmmm, they are a bunch of slim balls at just taking money. They alway take my money before a domain and only notify me after they have taken it.

The next shitty tricj they have just pulled is to renew my hosting for 3 years without asking. I historically have always done this one year at a time.

And one a payment process is set up, it seem impossible to delete. Wow, I prefer a thief in the night

😠 WORST EVER RUN AS FAR AND FAST AS YOU CAN!!
What an experience from hell with their chat agent, Harshith N. I was so disgusted I talked to his supervisor here was her reply-
My name is Chethan Shenava and I am one of the chat supervisors at FatCow. I agree with you. We do not operate this way and surely we do not want this to happen with any of our customers.
There is not enough room here to go through things, but this agent should be fired!!
Also like many others, had credit card charged, even though I wrote and expressely forbid them to do so. It took a fraud complaint to my CC company to get refund.

😉 what's all the fuzz about?
This is the first time I see that fatcow may have some negative ratings.
I am presently victimized with some downtime of my page, email, and fatcow altogether; so I looked up fatcow's rating with regard to such.
Well, now I hope it is but a sporadic case (maintenance maybe?) ....

OK ... as I read this site this morning, there have been five Fatcow users with criticisms since the beginning of the year, three of them finding fault with customer services -- out of c.42,000 domains that is not exactly a tidal-wave of fault finding. For this company (Batsford-Bear), and for the eight/nine/ten associates and clients who have changed over to FatCow on our recommendation (we are NOT signed up for any affiliates pay-off packages), we find FatCow provides exceptionally helpful, very, very uncomplicated webhosting for the medium-sized business ... and especially for the medium-sized, multi-client consultancy. It makes it simple (and inexpensive) for a business to look as-smart-as-all-hell in its e-performance and it makes it simple to keep in-house track of even the most-diverse e-traffic. 😠 I started using fatcow in 2009. I liked it because the User interface is clean and easy to navigate compared to another hosting provider like Godaddy. HOWEVER, starting in 2011-1012, I learned that Fatcow is very TRICKY and it made me totally lost trust with them
(1) when you purchased any domain with them and use your credit card to pay. Fatcow releases your information ( fullname and address and teletphone no ) / sell it to other search website. They do this so that they can sell you the "protection plan" .
This is a very bad business model. You have to pay them so that they wont sell your information. TERRIBLE!

In the privacy section, they said they do not sell your information but if you dont belive this, try to purchase a domain using your credit card, then in google, search your name you will get the list of all the domain you own including your personal information. THey did not do this 2 years ago.

😠 FatCow is Big FAT RIP-OFF
They auto renewed my account even after I cancelled it several times. They will not refund my money. I have two other accounts which I will now be cancelling. The live chat is a Fat joke. They bait and switch by quoting you one price and then charging you for services you did not ask for and jacking up the price the next year for everything. This webhosting is terrible. They are doing this auto renew to so many people there should be a class action law suit!

😞 STAY AWAY !
A couple of years ago I tried them. PHP was not recent enough, I was refused ftp connection and other stuff, so I left.

They told me to give them another chance a week ago.
I went for it, got a new plan... they said they improved.
My plan was not set up within one day - I still have limitations (10 MB hdd space and 0.5 GB/month bandwidth) - the offer was all unlimited. Live chat and ticket submitted about this.

PATHETIC! Avoid at all costs.

I've been with these FATCOWS for about 3 months now, and I'm running a very very basic blog with NO vids, NO flash animation, hardly any pictures at all, and yet my page takes up to 15 seconds to appear. I submitted a ticket with them, guess what their response was: NOTHING's wrong from our end, must be your connection. I have a 60 Mbps RCN package DUDE! So he goes: why don't you try one of those Caching plugins? excuse me? that's not your business! it's for me to decide whether I need a caching plugin installed on my blog or not!
Your business was to provide me with the server reliability I paid for! and I already have W3 Total Cache installed!

Guys.. learn from others' mistake. That's all I can say :(

I was dealing with them, even have three accounts with them, but the moment their team couldn't do a simple domain name transfer I requested a refund. Funny how the loss of money made a fire light under their ass because they were able to actually do it by then. Of course now they refuse to give me a full refund as per their own terms of service. So now I am canceling all my accounts with them and will refuse to ever do business with them or any other affiliate of their main company. Buyer beware!

😁 I've never had a bad experience with Fatcow - I don't really care for the control panel...too many icons spread out too far, but I guess it works. I have had issues, but the customer service has been great. The best part is that they're real people using their actual names in the US. I know because the first time I called I got a guy that I knew from when I lived in MA!! It was crazy. I have had a few times where the server has been slow to take emails - sometimes rejecting them - but I've never had downtime (other than maintenance). Their prices are good, too.

😉 Not the worst, certainly not the best. My sites are monitored and I have had about 50 notices of temporary shutdowns of the sites. They are usually fifteen minutes or less, but I don't think this qualifies as 99% uptime. Attempting to explain this to their "agents" is fairly useless; they magically think it has to do with the cable company or some such notion. Companies would do well to understand that people can handle "I don't know" as an answer to difficult questions.
Worpress is a breeze to install. Hooray!
Once a month I get very annoying emails saying that certain emails will be disabled due to lack of use...wrong.

😞 Their help desk is staffed by morons. It is rare to get any real help the first call or two. If your problem deviates from their script, they just start to repeat the same obvious solutions. My first support tickets from them were fine, but lately the service has deteriorated. After asking a question, instead of an answer, they sent me an ad for "personal concierge service". Instead of answering the question the first time, I guess they want me to pay more. This level of support is available 24/7 though.

The price for the service wasn't too bad, but you have to be careful they don't nickel and dime you for additional unwanted services. I've heard bad stories lately, though.

😃 I'm using fatcow for 2 years now.. I have 4 domains, for 4 different websites on their servers. The only thing that annoys me is that the websites are loading very slowly. But maybe this is due the fact that I'm from Europe, and they are an USA company. Other people from US tell that they have a very quick load time..

The price is pretty ok. I never had to call the support team, so I have no experince regarding that. The uptime is arround 97.8%, not 99.99..

The beginning was smooth when I didn't have any obvious issues. But then I started having issues such as I uploaded a CSS file but it was not updated on the server. It appeared to be updated on www.mysite.com, and then not on http://mysite.com or vice versa. It was confusing and frustrating. So I called up tech support, and found out that their tech support representatives were completely ignorant about what the real issue was.

I did a test to demonstrate the problem. I created a CSS class called ".white" and had "color: white" in it, applied it to some text; then I switched it to "color: black," and it shows that the changes do not show up on my site after I uploaded my file. 😞 I switched over to Fatcow recently after my first server start lagging and giving out. I figured $44 a year was very cheap to do all the things I need to do (I run online games, web-based). After uploading all my files, I realized that PHP Sessions wasn't working. I figured it was somehow an error in my code, after a few minutes, I realized that everyone else who used PHP sessions within Fatcow had issues.

After reading through their own tutorials on this issues, and Googling for an hour, I was never able to resolve the issue. After close inspection to their PHP.ini settings, I realized the nightmare of old and outdated 'standards' and was quickly on my way to tech-support.

After a wasteful 20 minutes with 'tech', they deferred me to a 'higher up'. Unfortunately, I can't wait around for a 'higher up', and have had to give up hope with Fatcow.

Customer Service is Good, but are not knowledgeable in anything past a DNS issue. Pricing is fair, but issues are not.

😉 I have hosted a simple machines forum with there unlimited hosting package. I have had nothing but problems with fatcow. I can get the website installed, setup, and use it then randomly I got

"Connection Problems Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

I have reinstalled simple machines 5 times. I contacted there support and they told me to use there single click installer. I did that and it still failed. My ticket was put to level 2 support they fixed it. The problem has come back over and over again.

I can setup mysql, apache and php. I don't see any reason as to why this is happening. I have asked if I could use another sql server. I've gotten no over and over again. There support techs have been very nice but haven't been able to fix a thing. I like there site, I like the price, I like everyone I have talked to.

😠 I've been with fatcow for approx 7years, it looks like they got brought out and the service went downhill, I'm finding the control panel doesn't work correctly 50% of the time, and they refuse to fix it. Customer service just don't seem to care, and the last billing they screwed up and I had to go though hopes to get it partially corrected (still not correct). At the end of my contract I will be transferring to another hosting company.

😠 Well I have been with Fatcow for about a week now and I have to say what bullcrap!
First thing, the only pages on my website that work at all are html based. I spent the first 3 days agonizing over what I thought were improperly installed databases, so I called in some help from my brother in law. Finally after several chats with tech support and a total database and file manager wipe we managed to produce 3 working installed databases (beware files in the file manager like to hang on and you often get errors when attempting to delete things and you always have to delete your databases manually and do clean installs of everything if a problem occurs. so be prepared to ask for reset help).

Next the trials and tribulations of installing and debugging your site. Well good luck on this one. If you intend to use anything other than html pages it is a nightmare. 😞 I have been working with fatcow for about a year. I client I am working with has 2 domains hosted with fatcow. One of which loads normal with no issues.. The other however is extremly slow. The difference between the 2 sites is the fast one is a static web page with no scripting. The other is an ecommerce store. I have investigated the situation to the best of my ability, to the extent of hosting it locally on my own development server. I was able to load the website faster from my own server, which is on my home lan, witch at cable speed. I brought my issues to their technical department who has now told me twice that I am wrong and their is nothing wrong with my page. 😠 I have been trying to get a fatcow reseller account now for about 3 weeks.. my paypal payment had an error, so i tried it again.. then realized in my paypal account the first one had gone through.. although was sat "unclaimed" so now I had two "unclaimed" payments in my paypal account..

I have been talking to support staff throughout the last two weeks trying to resolve the issue and NOTHING has been done.. they have "escalated" the issue to a senior specialist or something of the sort..

I mean a two year old could accept a paypal payment in a few minutes!!!!..

after reading some of these reviews I am having second thoughts about using them.. they obviously have the look and the pricing but apart from that they seem to be pretty rubbish..

😠 I joined fatcows 30 day money back trial early last year. Before the trial expired, I discovered that their php has limitations that their technical people are too incompetent to fix. Since their server was no good to me, I told them in no uncertain terms that I did not want to proceed past the trial period and to cancel my account.

1 year later, I get an invoice from fatcow, and after investigating why, it turns out they had been helping themselves to my credit card!!!

So I canceled the service again in May, and received several emails from them confirming it had been canceled this time.

Now, I have just received more invoices from them for exactly the same thing. They are attempting to bill me for another years service for a cost of USD98!!!

I've sent them several emails and they refuse to connect to Live chat which I have been trying for the past hour and no one is picking up the conversation.

😠 I just had the worst experience with FatCow! They offer the 30 day refund and when you try to get the refund within 30 days, they say they will but they don't! I had to call back 3 times before they issued my refund! To top that off, they took my domain when I asked them about transfer information! I will be adding my complaint to the already existing list of complaints they have with the Better Business Bureau! Research the BBB and you will find out that as of 5/01/10, they have had 128 complaints regarding billing within the last 36 months and I will be another to make it 129. They shut down my account cause of a bug i had in mysql but they got it fixed immediately. I guess i have good luck cause Other than that sql error Ive been good for all these years. I also have 4 other domains with them which cost me 11 dollars a piece but thats ok. Everything is under one account and i only pay 66 a year. 😠 Really the problem comes down to the support team. We had an urgent sitution come up with an email account on the system. Converted to Exchange for an increased size limit. After being unable to connect to the email account other than through webmail, the emails now coming into this high-profile account were locked away and couldn't be retrieve. Over and over again I called the support folks, and pretty much each time I was promised "2 hours" for the boxt to be converted back so we could get the emails.

Well, 28 hours and $75 later absolutly nothing had been done!

Finally I had to fix it myself by forwarding all of the emails to another working account, deleting the box and stating over.

😞 I am new to in depth web design and decided it was time to take a step above "drag and drop" building provided with most free networks (Yahoo!, Google, etc.). After poking around, I had heard good things about Fat Cow, and the pricing was beyond reasonable.

Within days of getting my site up and running, I was having problems. Email has been in and out close to weekly. In the almost 3 months I've been a customer, my site has been down at least half that time for no apparent reason.

Once, I performed a backup using their "easy" "suggested" method, only to lose critical data and somehow corrupt files I hadn't touched. By the time I realized where the issues were, they couldn't help me because they don't hold on to anything more than three days.

Worse, it takes them 72 hours to respond to a service ticket in the first place! Coincidence? I'm guessing not.

😠 We had a lot of issues with Fat Cow and in the short time we were hosted by them it cost us money and time and lot of both. They consistently told us it was our error but when we moved to Host Gator all of those problems disappeared. Our hired Web Designer told us he had never seen a host so slow in loading.

Fat Cow has a money back guarantee but I warn you they do NOT stand behind it. They advertise a 99% up time and that isn't true. My partner and I also noticed that when the site went down we couldn't get through to service with out a long wait and they have hold for their customer service chat.

Always they said it was our issue and tried to sell us on more packages and more add on features.

So pissed am I that I´m even giving entering my e-mail address so you can be sure it is legit. Fatcow is Globat - when you call customer service you get the exact same people, ask David. Globat´s ratings have gone so far down the toilet that they are trying to fool people with a new name. 😃 The control panel is easy to use. Handling of domains/sub-domains is very easy and allows for updating of the WhoIs info as long as the domain was purchased from or transferred to FatCow. Extra domains are $20, about double buying them from direct sellers such as WhoIs or GoDaddy. File management is decent but needs some speed loading up. Setting up e-mail addresses is easy but editting is not.

The default e-mail client is AtMail but FatCow is using an extremely outdated version. FatCow also provides Horde and Squirrel mail. These were $4 a month extra when I signed up, but I think they are now free and the user can switch clients at will. None of these are what I would consider as really decent e-mail clients. They all allow for SMPT and IMAP.

There have been at least two times where the servers went down. Once was supposedly caused by a power outage. Apparently they have no backup power generators.

NOW - this is the biggest, fraud and scam webHosting site on the market.

Do NOT store your credit card info on their site, I have caught several of their employees using my credit card info, and they go after your CC details very aggresively, presume this is India doing this aspect, as the CC info is quickly sold.

TECH SUPPORT - useless
BILLING - never understands the billing aspect
SALES - will sale you anything but will not backup anything.
ACCOUNT - billing and account are clues in each dept and with each other's dept.

I ended up having to file criminal charges against Eric in the Business Dept (MA) and Calvin the PHX call center (AZ) for return of my monies. I am fed up with corporations stealing my money, then refusing to return it, then if I finally get them on a tort in the law, then they fee up the refund where as I do not get my money.

😠 The worst customer service I have EVER received. They seem completely incompetent and unable to answer simple questions. Their billing department billed me TWICE for one account and then tried to tell me they couldn't refund the duplicate charge without deducting the "domain credit" of $15. 😠 I signed up for Fatcow less than two weeks ago because of rave reviews about customer service especially, and in these two weeks I have given up on them. Some support people are offshore, almost always a disaster, and so far not a single question has been answered adequately. This morning I am having trouble uploading files "server not available". Then today I found the reviews on webhosting-top.com and my heart sank.

😠 How have they handled your support queries?
On the first month you'll get a very fast query respond but after that you'll need to wait longer, 20 - 35 minutes to reach the tech team.

How have FatCow.com handled any problems?
Not sure, my problems aren't solved yet. I have no visitor but my website is down due to mysql open connection problem.

What kind of customer is this host suitable for?

For those who are trying to use fatcow, Here's the worst fatcow biggest problem:

1. Email sending/receiving absolutely 99.9% slow
2. don't plan to use MySQL. You'll get 'to many open connection' err so often.
3. No cronjobs
4. Apache access_log not accurate
5. use basicstate.com to monitor your web, you'll see that everyday your website will go down on its knees (4 - 9 hours) !!!

😞 I signed up for a great deal: $88 for two years!. Prior to this, I had gone online and looked for reviews of Fatcow. I don't know how I missed this one prior to purchase but 99% of other reviews were positive.

I found their advertising misleading with regards to "domain for life" feature. Also, the free website creator (CM4all - limited version) had features (such as a media page) missing but this is not clear when you sign up for the deal. CM4all is billed as very user friendly but there were many questions for me as a novice. Questions that the customer support staff were extremely rude about answering.

I just requested a refund and expect them to give me less than a full refund. I'll be out of a certain amount of money for something that was time-consuming and frustrating. How stupid is that?

😠 Fatcow is just one in a group of bad hosting choices. I spent a month reviewing web hosting services and every low cost service I reviewed was rotten to the core. Fatcow support staff doesn't even know who owns the company. Fatcow (and the others I reviewed) are affiliated with larger services and Fatcow has no control over the servers. The servers are oversold and the billing and accounting department are horrible. It's like there's a guy sitting in a booth wearing several different hats. When the billing phone rings he puts on his billing hat and when the tech support phone rings he puts on his support hat, well you get the picture. Uptime was ok nothing to brag about, but because we were never able to get one website up and running that alone makes the uptime irrelevant. We applied for a refund in writing and after 3 weeks finally got it but we had to open a dispute through PayPal to get it.
NEVER give any of these low cost hosting companies your credit card number.

😠 As a long time user of FatCow, I have to say they have gotten so bad I will be pulling all my sites. Their tech support has become abysmal. E mail only works sporadically, the servers have become so slow that any server based apps grind to a halt. Sites are often not available. What used to be a wonderful hosting company has become an expensive joke, costing me time and money.

Tech support denies there is a problem and refused to fix anything.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON FATCOW!

😠 Fatcow's service is ridiculously bad. Whenever I contact them I get an unsatisfactory response. I noticed that they have the "Oath" on their website that if they do not fulfill their promise, they promise a free month. Well, I don't want a free month - I want satisfactory service. Ever since I sent them an email about the "Oath", not only they ignore my support issues, but are also unfriendly over the phone.

What a mistake. It seems I'm going to be leaving them soon.

😠 I have only been using Fat cow for about a month. We are trying to use Joomla on it. It worked for about two days and then for two weeks all I could get was INTERNAL ERROR messages. They tried to blame it on Joomla, but after I threatened to drop the service they said it was a CGI poblem and fixed it. Now the site is very slow. Sometimes it takes over two minutes just to get the site loaded. I look at the repair tickets and they say, problem solved, but it is not. They say it is the SQL server and they are working on it, but won't give me any indication of when it will be fixed. SOON is all they will say. The service center, both phone and chat are quick to respond and very friendly, but also utterly worthless. I certainly would not recommend Fat Cow to anybody. We bought the year plan for around $90.00 and looks like we are going to kiss that money goodbye and find a more reliable host.

😠 I hosted my blog in fatcow for a little over a month now, and I was very impressed with the user-friendly, feature packed control panel and awesome customer service. I recommended fatcow to my friends but with the recent experience I had, I am starting to regret it. Recently, my site had been running slower and slower day by day. Nowadays, it takes over 4 seconds to load. 4 seconds!! are you kidding me? what the heck is going on? I never experienced this kind of slow down even from the free hosts I had in the past. I'm really getting sick of this and I am just throwing my rotten tomatoes right now in faint hope of improving this situation. It's time to move your fatass, fatcow.

After realizing that FatCow could not accommodate my server needs-- they recommended a "Sister business". I cancelled, but was not given a full refund.

😠 I have been using FatCow's hosting services for over a year now to host a site for a non-profit, and the experience has been incredibly frustrating.

Setting up MySQL connectivity to the site is impossible - I spent countless hours trying to tinker with the PHP settings and on the phone/chat/email with customer support to find out why I could not access my databases from my website. The customer support was awful and marked my issue as "resolved" without having fixed a thing. I ended up switching all my code to a SQLlite database.

Today, I tried adding FTP users to no avail - I get an unexplained error that prevents me from doing so.

I would never use FatCow, but the non-profit who I manage the page for had already paid for their services. I would not recommend FatCow to anyone hosting a page requiring any level of dynamic content - a blog, etc.

Look to GoDaddy, LunarPages, or even Site5 instead.

😠 I have been a Fat Cow customer for over 5 years but am preparing to move my websites to another host. I've been having response time issues on my discussion forum (phpBB) for the last 6 months and can not get Fat Cow customer service to resolve the issue. I've repetedly documented the the issue using timings from internetsupervision.com but to no avail. Help desk tickets have been ignored and calls to customer service have resulted in promises of improvement but ultimately no action. I have started to lose members because of the poor response times so I am left with no alternative but to move to another web host.

😠 Don't go there. A horrible service. Terrible customer service. More downtime than other services, slow - there is simply nothing redeeming about them. Pick anyone else. It's not worth saving a few bucks for such a lousy service.

😞 Since they were acquired, FatCow has gone downhill. Servers run slowly, tech support is spotty, fees keep increasing, and the control panel is at best klugey, at worst completely broken and unintuitive. Very disappointing, since they used to be one of the best.
