😠 Terrible service. I was with them for about ten years. Paid maximum freight for the last 5 years. Hardly used the service though. Then I asked for them to set up a VPS. Waited and waited. Followed up. Nothing. Email after email went unanswered. Stopped paying. They pulled the sites without warning. They have gone to pot. I liked them back when but they just don't care any more.

😃 I've been a customer for two years. If you take the time to talk to them and formulate your specific needs, they will listen and address your issues.
I had some specific needs and they were very open and helpful. Once, I had troubles getting support but when I emailed them another time, they fixed my minor problem right away. It is recommended for users looking for reliability, and if you speak a bit of *nix, you can get a great package. Control panel is basic but server speed, features and price are good.

(3*) 🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain RegistrationCsoft.net is a Canadian managed hosting provider operated by CubeSoft Communications, Inc. Founded in 1995, the company has maintained hosting operations since 1997, making it one of the longer-established independent Unix hosting businesses in North America. Julien Nadeau Carrière has served as president since January 1997, and the company continues to operate as a small, technically focused organization.
Its portfolio centers on managed Unix hosting, shared hosting, reseller hosting, virtual private servers, email hosting, shell accounts, database hosting, DNS management, VPN access and software-repository hosting. This is not conventional entry-level hosting built around a simplified website builder or WordPress dashboard. Every account includes shell access, development tools and access to OpenBSD, FreeBSD or Linux environments.
The standard hosting environment includes encrypted storage, unlimited monthly traffic, SSH, SCP, SFTP, cron jobs, PHP, CGI, FastCGI, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Git, CVS, SVN, Mercurial, image processing, video processing, DNS control, IPv6, DynDNS and internationalized domain support. A private VPN is also included, making the service suitable for developers and technically experienced customers who need direct command-line access.
Email hosting is unusually complete for a shared-hosting service. Accounts support POP, IMAP, webmail, encrypted SSL/TLS connections, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, mailing lists and private SpamAssassin 4 filtering. Postfix handles mail transport, while privilege-separated mail delivery allows individual customers to retain control of their filtering rules and spam databases.
The product range contains six hosting levels, beginning with inexpensive shared hosting and progressing to root-access virtual server environments.
Economy supports one domain, one subaccount, 5 GB of encrypted storage, two mailboxes, five email addresses, two repository accounts and two SQL databases with four database users. HTTPS support and an SSL certificate for one domain are included.
Name-Based increases the account to two domains or subdomains, 6 GB of storage, four mailboxes, ten email addresses, four repository accounts and three SQL databases with five users. It remains suitable for personal websites and smaller business projects that do not require a dedicated IP address.
Budget provides 30 GB of encrypted storage, a dedicated IPv6 address with reverse DNS and shared IPv4 connectivity. Domains, subaccounts, mailboxes, email addresses, repositories, SQL databases and database users are unlimited. It is a practical option for customers managing multiple websites without requiring individual IPv4 addressing.
Standard is the primary business and reseller package. It includes dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, 40 GB of storage, unlimited domains and accounts, dedicated Git or SVN server capability and privilege-separated reseller hosting. Individual domains and customer accounts can execute PHP or CGI software under separate Unix identities, preventing users from accessing directories belonging to other accounts.
Advanced adds increased memory, higher process and network priority, 50 GB of encrypted storage, dedicated addressing and permission to operate privileged services. Customers can run a web server, application server, proxy cache, IRC service or another custom daemon. A VPS with root access can operate across as many as two physical servers, while selected services can remain inside the managed shared environment.
Corporate is the highest service tier. It includes 73 GB of encrypted storage, greater memory and processing priority, a dedicated web server, live video-streaming capability, dedicated IP addresses and a complete root-access VPS with the customer’s preferred operating system. The virtual environment can also extend across two physical servers.
Csoft.net does not follow the usual mass-market hosting model. Domain registration, automated website creation and a conventional bare-metal dedicated-server catalog are not central parts of the service. The emphasis remains on flexible managed Unix environments with shell access, system-level control and direct technical assistance.
The website is available in English and French. Its narrow layout, compact typography and documentation-oriented navigation retain an older visual style. The interface remains functional, although customers accustomed to modern hosting storefronts may find the product comparison and account workflow less intuitive on smaller screens.
Csoft.net has operated as a carbon-negative company since 2021. Its environmental work includes planting approximately 100 trees annually and maintaining one hectare of land in Quebec as a habitat for wildlife and beneficial plant species.
💰 Price & Cost
Hosting begins at $4.95 for Economy. Name-Based costs $9.95, Budget costs $19.95, Standard costs $24.95, Advanced costs $34.95 and Corporate costs $49.95. A free trial option is also available through the order system.
The checkout process uses a dollar symbol without clearly identifying whether all prices are charged in Canadian or US dollars. International customers should confirm the billing currency before completing an order.
Accounts renew automatically according to the billing period selected during signup unless a written cancellation request is submitted before the next renewal date. Payment methods include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal, postal checks and international or certified money orders. Credit-card and debit-card receipts can be accessed from the customer control panel.
There is no conventional 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Customers ending service before a prepaid billing period expires can request a credit for the unused portion of that period.
The service-level agreement offers a stronger operational remedy. Failure to meet the guaranteed availability or response conditions can qualify the customer for reimbursement of the fixed monthly service charge, provided the request is submitted within 30 days of the incident.
Domain registration is handled through an external registrar. Csoft.net can assist with domain transfers and DNS configuration, but the registration itself remains under the customer’s separate registrar account.
🏢 Data Center
The hosting infrastructure moved from New York City to Pennsylvania, United States, in February 2026. The servers are housed with 365 Data Centers in a continuously guarded environment protected through multiple physical security controls.
Csoft.net has used several infrastructure locations during its history. Its original installation operated in Oklahoma City from 1997 until 2001. The servers moved to Atlanta in June 2001, Montreal in February 2006, New York City in November 2013 and Pennsylvania in February 2026.
The Lilly platform is a redundant and load-balanced AMD64 FreeBSD server array. OpenBSD and Linux environments are also supported, allowing customers to select an operating-system family appropriate for their applications.
The published Lilly network addresses belong to the 68.71.93.0/24 network announced through AS14127. The network is associated with 11:11 Systems, following the transition from Iland Internet Solutions.
The backup architecture extends beyond a conventional nightly archive. Complete home directories are mirrored daily, MySQL information is replicated in real time, PostgreSQL databases are backed up daily and control-panel configuration is continuously replicated. Firewall states are synchronized through pfsync, while CARP allows a secondary firewall or server to assume responsibility without unnecessarily interrupting existing connections.
Hosting plans include three daily offsite backups. Restoration requests are handled directly by the technical support team.
The company provides a 100% monthly availability guarantee for DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SMTPS, IMAP, IMAPS, POP3 and POP3S. A response time exceeding ten seconds counts as a service failure. Planned maintenance, customer-caused incidents, customer-requested changes and natural events are excluded from the guarantee.
Availability measurements are performed from within the company’s local network. The guarantee therefore applies directly to the operation of the hosted services rather than every possible external Internet route used by visitors.
✍️ Customer Support
Technical assistance is available around the clock through a secure contact form and direct email. Support is handled by human administrators rather than an automated chatbot or outsourced first-line response system.
A toll-free office telephone number is available during normal business hours. Customers can also obtain an administrator’s mobile number for emergencies outside regular hours. The administrators participate in the company’s public Discord community, while billing and sales inquiries use a separate contact channel.
The managed-service model includes operating-system maintenance, software-library upgrades, database backups, resource monitoring and routine system administration. Administrators monitor service availability, respond to interruptions, mitigate denial-of-service attacks, report software vulnerabilities and assist customers with security patches.
Email support covers account configuration, spam-filtering problems, deliverability, server reputation and mailing-list administration. Backup restoration is also coordinated through the support team.
Scheduled maintenance, hardware replacements and software upgrades are communicated through the server message-of-the-day file, the control-panel homepage and messages displayed during SSH login.
The support structure is particularly useful for customers who want root access or custom server software without assuming complete responsibility for maintaining the underlying operating system. However, the service does not include a formal guaranteed initial-response or issue-resolution time.
🔨 Control Panel
Csoft.net uses its own proprietary web-based control panel rather than cPanel or Plesk. The interface manages domains, DNS records, email addresses, mailboxes, mailing lists, SQL databases, repositories, subaccounts, server preferences, billing information and service announcements.
Advanced customers can perform equivalent administrative work through the csoftadm command-line utility. It operates over SSH and supports scripted commands, making it suitable for automated account creation, repeatable configuration changes and bulk administration.
DNS records can be created and edited through either the control panel or csoftadm. Changes are distributed to the company’s name servers within approximately five minutes. MariaDB databases, PostgreSQL databases, mail aliases, mailbox destinations and SVN repositories can also be controlled through both interfaces.
The control panel is functional and closely integrated with the hosting platform, but its appearance remains utilitarian. Customers familiar only with cPanel may require time to understand the terminology and account structure. Developers and Unix administrators are more likely to appreciate the scriptable command-line interface and the amount of direct configuration control available.
🎯 Conclusion
Csoft.net is a distinctive hosting provider for customers who need more control than ordinary shared hosting offers but do not want to maintain a completely unmanaged server. Its main strengths include full shell access, managed Unix environments, root-capable VPS plans, private spam filtering, repository hosting, replicated infrastructure, complete email functionality, unlimited traffic and a 100% monthly service-availability guarantee. The Standard package is especially practical for developers, agencies and small resellers because it combines dedicated IP addresses with privilege-separated customer accounts. Advanced and Corporate provide a useful middle ground between shared hosting and a conventional unmanaged VPS, particularly when managed updates, backups and direct administrator access are more valuable than very large storage quotas.
The limitations are equally important. Storage allocations are modest compared with many modern VPS and shared-hosting services, the currency is not labeled clearly during ordering, domain registration is external and only one current server region is available. The website and control panel also retain an older technical appearance.
Csoft.net is best suited to developers, Unix users, research groups, technical organizations and small hosting resellers. Customers prioritizing cPanel, automated WordPress management, large storage allocations or a broad selection of international server locations will find more conventional alternatives elsewhere. For technically experienced users who value flexibility, direct human support and managed system administration, the service remains unusually capable for its price range.

😞 Unsure what changes the company has gone through, but the service (technical on the hosting and support for contacting) became very bad very quick. Our account type was for corporate hosting and worked very well for half a year. Without warning, the IP for our account was switched and many files were lost. In an effort to rebuild, we contact them about installing Rail gems. They refused to install some specific gems that had been previously installed and would not explain how the files were lost or the IP was switched. When they stopped answering emails, we canceled and moved from the server. Despite a lacking control panel, the service was very good and stable up until that point and we had been very happy. It was a disappointment and major setback to lose so much and necessitate a switch in providers.
