Customers are encouraged to update their device configurations to these new resolvers before the 21st of August 2020, as the older resolvers will no longer be in service after this date. This upgrade ensures improved reliability and speed for local DNS queries, minimizing latency and enhancing web browsing efficiency.
Avoid External DNS Services for Better Performance
While some users may consider external DNS services like Google’s 8.8.8.8, Cenpac strongly advises against this. External services are subject to 500ms+ latency due to the reliance on redundant satellite links. Using such services could result in:

For the best performance, customers should use Cenpac’s dedicated resolvers, designed to work seamlessly with the local infrastructure.
Critical ICMP Support for Connectivity
Cenpac reminds customers to allow ICMP traffic on their routers facing Cenpac’s network. ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) is crucial for diagnosing and addressing network issues, enabling error reporting for IP packet delivery.
Blocking ICMP on customer premises equipment (CPE) can hinder troubleshooting efforts, particularly for connectivity issues in the last mile. Cenpac urges users to ensure ICMP traffic is permitted, enabling timely support and resolution of network issues.
