😠 Black Lotus supports spammers
For several months now I've been receiving 10-20 messages per day that bypass all spam filters. The mail is clearly spam and clearly in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act. The headers contain false information, and the "unsubscribe" addresses contained in the email do not work. Black Lotus Communications are the hosts for these companies sending the spam and have done nothing, after months of complaints, to stop the spam. I believe that a significant portion of their profits comes from these companies that are violating the law.

😠 They host hate sites
BlackLotus hosts hate sites like niggermania.net. I refuse to do business with any company who considers garbage like that to be acceptable content and those who would create it as being acceptable customers. I urge others to do the same.

😠 Horrible Service. Scammed me of over $500. They claim you need 'plan upgrades' every time you get attacked. This is classic bait and switch scam made down to a slick fine art. These people will take your money and hold your data hostage. Do not go near them!

Black Lotus Communications – A Pioneer in DDoS Mitigation and Network Security
Black Lotus Communications earned a distinguished reputation in the cybersecurity and hosting industries as one of the earliest and most advanced providers of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) mitigation solutions. Before its acquisition by Level 3 Communications (now Lumen Technologies), Black Lotus was widely recognized for its innovation, resilience, and commitment to defending mission-critical infrastructure against a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
Origins Rooted in Security Foresight
At a time when DDoS attacks were not widely understood or discussed, Black Lotus was already building countermeasures. In the wake of the first CERT advisories in 1999, a dedicated team of researchers laid the groundwork for what would become one of the most robust and proactive DDoS defense platforms in the world. Black Lotus brought DDoS to the forefront of information security discourse, transforming it from a niche concern into a global priority.
Award-Winning Mitigation at Global Scale
With over 1 Tbps of active mitigation capacity and multiple state-of-the-art facilities across North America and Europe, Black Lotus provided carrier-grade DDoS protection capable of handling even the most complex and voluminous attacks. Its network architecture was engineered for high availability, featuring complete redundancy and zero single points of failure.
The service model allowed for broad global deployment through GRE tunnels, physical cross-connects, or virtual Ethernet services. By partnering with top-tier carriers such as NTT, GTT, Level 3, Equinix, and CoreSite, Black Lotus ensured ultra-low latency and high-capacity transit for its clients.
Service Commitment and Customer-Centric Design
Black Lotus was not only known for its technical prowess but also for its strong customer service culture. The company maintained an excess of trained, college-educated support engineers, offering 24/7/365 coverage with emergency ticket response times targeted under 15 minutes. This level of responsiveness reflected its core belief that reliable support is integral to any mission-critical infrastructure.
Flexible Bandwidth Policies for Demanding Applications
Understanding the bandwidth demands of modern applications, Black Lotus implemented a forward-thinking billing model. Ingress bandwidth was offered at a flat rate, with customers only charged for egress usage—removing the uncertainty and cost volatility often associated with traditional metered models. This was especially valuable for organizations dealing with massive inbound data flows such as streaming platforms, financial institutions, and high-traffic web properties.
From Independent Innovator to Part of a Global Network
Black Lotus’s pioneering work eventually attracted acquisition by Level 3 Communications, itself a Tier 1 global carrier. This integration brought Black Lotus’s cutting-edge DDoS solutions into a larger, enterprise-scale network ecosystem, eventually transitioning under the Lumen Technologies brand. While the Black Lotus name is no longer active, its legacy continues through Lumen's security and network services, which carry forward the same emphasis on resilience, innovation, and customer-centric performance.

🎯 Conclusion

Black Lotus Communications played a foundational role in shaping how enterprises and service providers approach DDoS protection. It stood out for its technical sophistication, transparency, and willingness to innovate ahead of market trends. Its legacy is not merely in its technology, but in its contributions to elevating industry standards around uptime, network security, and responsive support in the face of evolving cyber threats.

😠 This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They scammed me out of $5,000. STAY FAR AWAY! I signed up and it started fine until the first attack, the next thing I know I'm calling for support because my site is down. They hang up on me! This company is horrible.
