😠 Anything for a price and the bills keep comin'
Really? Sign up for Windows server (one of 100 listed, but no price difference mentioned). Oh no. That $10 sign up fee becomes $47 pretty fast. NO THANKS. What a scam.
JUST BE TRANSPARENT about your service and prices. That's no way to run a business.

😠 70-80% uptime
I've been hosting websites since 1996 and so far VPS.net has been my worst experience. When I signed up in 2010 it wasn't that bad and I liked their flexibility they offered with their plans, to add more resources to your machine without committing to rent a whole server. However, since the end of that year their quality started declining ever since. Outages of entire DAYS, dns failing, servers hanging without notice. If anything happens they will push you to buy extra resources or subscribe for very expensive managed services. Customer support, while polite, is not that helpful; usually the first contact will only redirect you to a senior engineer, and it will take more time.

😠 vps net is worst
Vps net wanted to make some extra money and when I started to ask questeions, Rus Foster, MD of VPS net simply deleted himself all my code. It's was not just some mistake, he did it on purpose, he even doesn't regret. I asked him to return my property, but he refused and wrote to me that going to delete all my data base, 1 day after he even sent me a message that all my data base destroyed. Vps net really shits on every one. If you want, you are wellcome to read it here: http://vps-net-review.com/ I collected all the print screens and mails from them.

🔃 Vps.net is part of THG Hosting🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain Registration Own datacenter
⇔ Redirected from autica.com
Active since the 1990s, VPS.NET offers cloud-based services, running on the latest technology and newest hardware. They are one of the industry-leading VPS providers and they are a member of THG Hosting.
The company specializes in VPS solutions, but customers can also find:
- VPS Cloud;
- Cloud Servers;
- Reseller Hosting;
With VPS cloud servers, customers will run their business on a multi-tenant platform that is user-friendly when it comes to network, storage resources or compute management. These servers operate on Intel Xeon scalable processors.
VPS servers are based on SSD drives and they operate on CentOs and Ubuntu. They are unmanaged, but customers can choose their servers to be fully managed (by paying an additional fee for server monitoring or monitoring & configuration). Security is also made sure through SSL certificates.
💰 Price & Cost
The prices for their products are highly competitive compared to what is generally offered on the hosting market. Billing is made hourly or monthly. There is no clear money-back guarantee stated on their homepage.
⌛ Reliability
Based on their Service Level Agreement, VPS.NET states that they provide 99.9% uptime guarantee for their services. Should any downtime occur, VPS.NET states that they will credit the customerβs account.
🏢 Data Center
The company is based in Providence, Utah. They operate from 24 data centers around the globe that are registered in the following locations:
- USA: Atlanta (Georgia), New York City, Los Angeles, San Jose (California), Chicago (Illinois), Dallas (Texas), Washington DC, Salt Lake City (Utah), Phoenix (Arizona), Miami (Florida);
- Canada: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver;
- UK: London, Manchester;
- Germany: Frankfurt;
- France: Paris;
- The Netherlands: Haarlem;
- Brazil: Sao Paulo;
- Japan: Tokyo;
- Singapore;
- Australia: Sydney;
These are powered by redundant sources and generated by popular network carriers.
✍️ Customer Support
Available 24/7, technical assistance can be requested on phone, e-mail, live chat or ticket support. Their team can also be contacted on social media, so customers can write to them on Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook.
For more information, customers can search through their knowledgebase in case they encounter server management issues.
🔨 Control Panel
Like many hosting providers in the industry, VPS.NET uses cPanel as it has an easy-to-use interface and many customers already acquainted with the hosting industry prefer cPanel to any other control panel.
🎯 Conclusion
Part of THG Hosting, VPS.NET has been around for a long time and specializes in VPS solutions. Because of this, customers will not find other types of hosting here, such as shared hosting or dedicated servers.With affordable products, great uptime backed by SLA, comprehensive support and server control via cPanel, VPS.NET is a reliable choice when looking to purchase virtual private servers on the market.

😠 Just check "status.vps.net".
They continually have problems. In particular, the SAN setup used is absolutely terrible. Tried a number of different DC's, and via Pingdom monitoring I couldn't go a single 30-day period without at least 1 minor to major interruption.
I've since moved on to AWS, where I'm currently at 94 days of 100% uptime (recent AWS outage didn't affect me).
Suppose VPS.net could still be useful if I needed some cheap "throw-away" VMs where reliability wasn't a concern. But for anything important, or where high up-time is a must, stay way the f*ck away, from these guys.
Oh, and PS, VPS.net and the entire UK2 brand were not too recently bought buy an investment bank. And we all know that banks care a lot about customer service and really building the brands they buy... not just taking them for all the money they can... ;-)

😁 No Problems at All!
I'm not exactly sure why everyone posts negative reviews, but I have the feeling most of the problems encountered are the customer's fault. I've noticed that VPS.NET seems like a small company with a limited number of employees, this results in many issues being resolved over a course of hours rather than minutes. However, support tickets should be expected have longer reply times and I've never had one unanswered.
My experience with them has been fully positive! The only time I had trouble with my VPS was as a result of me updating some software that had a conflict with pre-installed software. Even better, they fixed it for me!
I've always found the support to be very thorough as well, no one-word answers. As cloud technology is new and still evolving, it is important to remember that problems may come up. I stuck with a reliable OS and have yet to find any issues with my service. Recommended if you're computer/server saavy and want to be on the cutting-edge of cloud [read more...]

😠 vps.net should be avoided
I am posting this bad review because I am sick and tired of VPS.net poor service both server outages without explaination, and terrible customer service. Today I reported an outage on my main hosting VPS server with 60 customer accounts. It was ignored for 4 hours. After repeated followups on my part, they finally responded with..."we are looking into it". 3 hours later, my system was finally back online. I was told that the file system was corrupted, but I knew for a fact that that was a lie. Their DNS server was failing, offline, or fire-walling requests. It took simple tests to see that the requests stopped dead at their DNS server. It was not the file system. I requested a complete trouble report so I can document exactly why my service was interrupted for 7 hours on a business day during business hours. They told me I have to pay $10 for that. So they can go scratch.
So I am moving to a new VPS. Its a big pain, but VPS.net is a horrible company. The don't even have a phone # [read more...]

😠 I'm working on a website that we decided to host on VPS.net. I can say the first day was the only good day, because didn't enough experience with VPS.net
After 3 Weeks, our website when down and the node became unavailable. Support? $10/Ticket. Unfortunately, I didn't have a recent backup and after checking the console (in VPS control panel) there was an error message about the corrupt hard drive. Neither the SSH or FTP were working.
I was able to get my files out after 2 hours of aggravating work, but VPS is definitely a place that I will NEVER visit again.
If you like your files and the effort you put in to your projects, DO NOT use these guys.

😠 Horrible experience. Do not use this company if you have important information. Here are the problems:
- No phone number for support
- Their support is done through a forum and when they do respond they make no sense because english is not their first language. Nothing against these people but if you need help it will be difficult.
- Our node was down for 5 days. Luckily we had a backup and we launched with another hosting service.
- Their SLA claims 100% uptime however they only credit your account. Since we cancelled our account that was worthless to us. We tried to get a refund and they said NO REFUNDS. We are contesting the charges now.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY.

😠 Terrible terrible hosting company. Stay away from. I just canceled my account after being with them for 4 days. I've had 3 straight days of downtime without explanation . The support staff ignores my tickets, they have no phone number to call, and the company provides no transparency. I switched hosts and filed a dispute with my credit card company.

😠 I signup for 1 node later upgrade to 2 nodes. My 1 month with them maybe the worst experience ever with vps provider.
In the 3rd week, my site encounter at least 1hour server downtime daily. My fourth week, almost the full week downtime. Lots and lots of problem
- Hypervisor problem
- SANS problem, which lead to Disk IO problem, slow connections, long downtime 5 - 8 hours daily.. !!?
Open support ticket will lead you to pay more to troubleshoot the problem THEY did.
Features and customer support quick response doesn't do any good if you cannot use your hosting. Stay away, just a bunch of crooks wants your money without providing good services.

😠 We have about 20VPS with VPS.net, all the time they have a Zone Problem or something else which lets all the VPS in one zone fail with extremely high downtimes. The last downtime now was over 5hours!
The control panel often hangs or is unresponsive which doesn't make it better when it takes over 1h already just to respond to the ticket and then another couple of hours till the problem is resolved!
Response and service quality to the hundreds of support tickets we issued the last months was NULL. The support team quality is very unsatisfying. One time the VPS after reboot was not available to the internet anymore. The solution of VPS.net was to simple turn off the Firewall after it took already 3h to resolve the issue.

😠 I subscribed to this service, even though it was about $10 more than other companies offering the same service. Once I tried to setup my first VPS, I found out that the "1" node I had purchased was not enough for a Windows VPS, and that I would need to purchase another node. None of this was communicated up front and I think they misleadingly use this method to get more money out of people who have paid and don't want to waste their initial subscription fee. At least with virtualservers.com you get to select what you are purchasing up front, what OS, and additional options, unlike VPS who would like to sell you the car, but then once you sign, advise that you will need to pay extra for the engine. Not impressed, cancelled my account immediately.

😠 The model used by vps.net with switchable nodes etc is good and at first it all looked great. Easy to use etc.
I started hosting a few nodes with them but we are about to go live and I can't risk it any more
Multiple major outages lasting several hours in 3 months when I could not access my machines. No information from them about what was happening.
The first time it was a problem when switching over a router. This time who knows its been at least 2.5 hours so far and still counting.
There is no network status information on the website, no planned maintenance warnings and their website is barely functioning.
For a production system they are too dangerous.
The control panel they provide is grindingly slow at the best of times and often stops completely when things go wrong. This means you can't contact support.
The virtual console access doesn't work half the time and will only work with some browers.
When everything is working, it is fine but that's not [read more...]

😞 Man does it suck to be leaving VPS.net. They have so much going for them. The prices are good and upgrading is straight forward. Everything is easy to use. Unfortunately, none of that matters if your VPS is down on a weekly basis, sometimes for hours at a time. There are mystery reboots and only excuses while their reliability gets worse and worse. I liked them a lot at first but I'm so tired of having egg on my face in front of my clients.
A particularly bad time I had with them was when one of my VPS's hosting a client's app went down for several hours. I waited around for an eternity for them to get it sorted out. Finally it comes back up and a quick examination makes it look ok. A couple of hours later my client is on the phone, things are broken all over. I check it out and it turns out that they've messed with network settings and the hosts file without telling me. I can understand downtime now and then and I can understand that sometimes something breaks so bad it needs to

😠 Who ever heard of a hosting company without a phone number? If your website goes down filling out a form online is NOT how you want to handle it. I was referred to them by Yoast.com and I really valued his opinion now, but the features, price and speed don't matter if you can't reach anyone when something happens.
They may be alright for a non-crucial secondary or backup service. But they're no reliable enough to run any serious business on. I can say that from experience!

And they just upped the amount of memory for each node from 256 to 375 MB :D
