Founded by Matthew Hill in 1997 and later led by CEO Jim Geiger, they focus on taking over platform operations—hardware and network management, OS and pre-installed software upkeep, updates, backups, monitoring, and restorations when needed.

LiquidWeb portfolio is broad. Core Hosting lines include Dedicated, Cloud, and VPS, plus Email Hosting, GPU Hosting, Magento Hosting, and solutions tailored for WordPress. They also market specialized offerings such as High Availability/Performance, Private Cloud, Server Clusters, HIPAA and PCI-compliant hosting, Windows and Linux variants, and reseller programs. On the Servers side, they provide bare metal and cloud dedicated machines, as well as custom servers. Managed tiers range from unmanaged and core-managed to fully managed, with optional control panels.

Platform philosophy emphasizes reliability and speed: enterprise hardware (including AMD EPYC on KVM for VPS), SSD/NVMe storage, DDoS protection, firewalls, and Tier-1 bandwidth.
