📄 Editorial Review

GoDaddy.com stands as the largest domain name registrar in the world, with over 81 million domains under management and a strong global presence in the web hosting and internet services market. Founded in 1997 by Bob Parsons, GoDaddy has grown from a simple registrar to a comprehensive solutions provider, helping more than 20 million entrepreneurs build and manage their online presence.

The company’s services cover everything from domain registration and web hosting (shared, VPS, WordPress, and dedicated) to SSL certificates, email hosting, eCommerce solutions, marketing tools, and its own AI assistant, Airo. GoDaddy targets users ranging from beginners to small business owners, positioning itself as an all-in-one platform for building and scaling websites.

Its wide product suite is matched with localization efforts—custom subdomains and support for multiple languages allow GoDaddy to maintain strong engagement in markets like India, Germany, and Indonesia, in addition to North America and Europe.

However, while the company is popular and easy to use, some services feel basic unless upgraded to higher-tier plans. Key add-ons like malware protection, SEO tools, and backup options often come with extra fees. Despite this, GoDaddy’s brand recognition, ecosystem, and beginner-friendly tools continue to make it a top pick for those entering the online world.

As of 2025, GoDaddy has streamlined its hosting offerings significantly, moving away from legacy services to focus on more flexible and scalable solutions. Several traditional hosting products have reached end-of-life status, marking a notable shift in the company's long-term strategy.
Windows Shared Hosting: Retired

Although some support articles and outdated mentions still linger on the website, GoDaddy has officially discontinued Windows-based Shared Hosting. Customers seeking Windows environments are now directed toward Windows VPS Hosting, which offers full control, dedicated resources, and compatibility with Plesk for easier management. This change is aimed at users who need specific Windows-based frameworks or applications but require more robust performance than shared hosting can offer.
Dedicated Servers and Reseller Hosting: Phased Out

GoDaddy has also retired Dedicated Servers and Reseller Hosting. These products are no longer available for new purchases and are being gradually phased out. Customers on legacy dedicated hardware are being migrated, when possible, to modern VPS Hosting solutions, which match or exceed the performance (CPU, RAM, and storage) of traditional dedicated setups. The migration also introduces regional flexibility, with VPS plans now available across data centers in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Reseller hosting, once a core product for web agencies and hosting entrepreneurs, has also been deprecated, with GoDaddy choosing to focus on direct hosting solutions and managed services instead.
Cloud Hosting: Discontinued

Previously offered cloud hosting plans have been sunset as well. Existing customers on cloud infrastructure are now covered by high-performance shared hosting plans, which use advanced caching, load balancing, and scalable resources to mimic the benefits of cloud platforms in a simplified format. This evolution reflects GoDaddy's intention to reduce complexity while still delivering speed and reliability to modern websites.

😠 As soon as I deleted everything I had from them,
they quote a price and then force you to pay much more. It keeps crashing, no one answers, they offer you services and security, and in the end, they don't even give you a damn. They didn't give me the option to transfer my domain names, which I'd already paid for. SCUFF.
I'm left with only my number, and they're supposed to pay. I'm deleting everything.

😠 Support: They will not help you locate, find or setup the default php5.ini file. They need to do that because their php.ini is unique in many places - i.e SMTP. If you do not know how to find their file and copy it you are out of luck. Found answer in Forum - finally.
PHP website comments: The php mail() function will not send eMails if the domain in the 'from' email address is aol.com, yahoo.com, gmail.com .. and some others. This is probably to prevent spam. If you use php and mail() for forms EMail, DO NOT use GoDaddy Windows Economy Plan. It will NOT work for you.

😠 I would definitely say GoDaddy web hosting is the worst for many reasons.

First I let me point out that technically Godaddy has the worst technical support, why you ask? because their support is nothing more than a 24/7 answering service, with the most common and technical support assistance being "it's not the server...check your code".
Godaddy Technical Support = 24/7 very un-knowledgeably staffed answering service.
GoDaddy is definitely and simply the worst hosting service.

This isn't just based on one bad experience with them, no matter what the problem, slow page loads -upto a minute to load some pages, scripts that worked and suddenly does not work with out any code changes, FTP errors, website down, cannot load page errors 500 and 403 for ever, the extent of godaddys' tech support for all of these issues and any other problems that you may have is the same response "check your code".

In every category Godaddy proved to be slower, error filled and more problematic than other popular hosts.
I can't understand why they are so popular.

There are other hosts that are better than GoDaddy, have real 24/7 customer technical support and cost less.

Do a Google search for;
"Godaddy problem" or "Godaddy sucks"
Godaddy is very slow, they seem to have issues with the servers seems like every other day so your site is down half of the time, All negative comments that they feel will reflect badly on Godaddy support forums get filtered out by moderators or held until they can come up with what would appear to be a legitimate response.

I will be leaving Godaddy for sure... still trying to find a host that is reliable. Everyone recommends BlueHost and HostGator but they dont have Windows Hosting plans, but now may be the right time to switch to a linux server anyway so I think I will try Arvixe after reading some of the reviews here for the top 10 hosts.

Only go with Godaddy if you won't ever need any technical support or you welcome sever and website downtime in between the 1 minute page load times on your websites....Google hates that!
Avoid Godaddy like the plague for websites, customers and your own sake...
