Whereas other sites like Web Hosting Talk (http://www.webhostingtalk.com) provide a forum where hosting professionals can discuss pertinent issues that affect the industry, Host Society serves more as a platform for these professionals to network and socialize in a non-business setting.

The site offers similar functionality to popular sites like MySpace and Facebook.

However, Host Society distinguishes itself from these other social networks by specifically targeting Internet professionals and building a community around shared interests.

Users of the site can interact through a range of features, including personal blogs, classified postings, event listings, clubs, eCards, chat rooms, and forums.

"We're not trying to take down News Corporation or spread to college campuses around the world," says Zachary McClung, Host Society founder. "Instead, Host Society is carving out a unique niche that builds upon the tight-knit and well connected network of professionals in the Web hosting industry. Users grow beyond their user name -- they become part of the community, and the Web hosting industry desperately needs a platform like this."

Host Society is intended to be used as a community venue for social activities that are not necessarily business related.
