Advisory Concerning Settlement of .biz Class-Action Lawsuits

📅 -

In August 2001, two lawsuits were brought in Los Angeles, California USA alleging that the method of distribution of .biz domain names during the landrush phase violated California laws concerning lotteries. The lawsuits were brought against NeuLevel (the .biz operator), various registrars, and ICANN. Recently a settlement has been proposed for final Court approval. Details appear in the notice posted on the Public Comment Forum section of the ICANN web site. A court hearing on whether to give final approval will be held on 17 March 2003, as described in the notice.
