📅 - Web hosting provider and domain registrar AITDomains (aitdomains.com) announced on Wednesday it is pre-registering the upcoming .mobi extension for $99.95. The top-level domain is the first dedicated to mobile devices.
"The .mobi domain puts the web in motion so businesses can reach consumers anywhere, and with PDA's outnumbering PC's, that is no small consideration," says AIT CEO Clarence Briggs. ".mobi dovetails into our Hosted Exchange service that pushes voice, email, and messaging to hand-held devices."
AIT says it has long supported wireless-enabled hosting with its hosting platform, anticipating the growing use and greater capability of mobile devices.
In related news, AIT is rolling out wireless networks in various metro areas across the US through its dealerships to include Atlanta, Georgia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The multi-million dollar initiative will include training in several industry certifications through partnerships with numerous community development organizations.
