Jul, 2010 : Melbourne Server Hosting Partners with R1Soft

📅 - Company joins R1Soft Hosting Partner Program to boost UltraVault Managed Backup Service.

Melbourne Server Hosting, a managed hosting services and colocation provider, today announced that it has partnered with R1Soft, a developer of Continuous Data Protection, to power its UltraVault Managed Backup Service.

The company explains that UltraVault, which it has offered for several years, will now utilize R1Soft CDP to offer affordable and flexible remote data backup for both Linux and Windows servers. Leveraging R1Soft's unique technology, UltraVault offers multiple levels of offsite data protection, including daily backups, hourly backups, open-file backups, live MySQL database backups, and Continuous Data Protection. Customers can also take advantage of Bare-Metal Disaster Recovery, which enables servers to be restored directly from disk-based backup, eliminating the need to partition the drive and install an operating system.

It further explains that customers with self-managed dedicated servers, virtual servers, or colocation can add UltraVault protection for a GBP 50 one-time setup charge. Thereafter, customers pay GBP 5 monthly per server and from GBP 0.50 monthly per protected gigabyte. UltraManaged dedicated and virtual server customers pay no setup or per-server fees. The company adds that as a member of the exclusive R1Soft Hosting Partner Program, it will receive priority technical support, progressive volume licensing discounts on software, and access to a wide variety of sales and marketing resources. It will also receive advance access to new software updates and other new features.

"We wanted to have an 'off-the-shelf' backup solution that we could offer to our clients, whether they take fully managed servers from us, or simply colocate their servers in our data centers. It was important that we had a solution that would work equally well with both Windows and Linux servers, and offered the utmost in scalability and reliability," said Melbourne Managing Director Daniel Keighron-Foster. "R1Soft CDP goes beyond what a conventional daily backup solution can offer, and we have been able to introduce dramatic service-level improvements as a result."

"Melbourne's implementation of R1Soft CDP leverages the vast array of features and distinctive technology that has made our solution attractive for thousands of hosting providers across the globe. By taking advantage of support for both Linux and Windows servers, Melbourne has created an innovative data protection solution that saves both time and money," said David Wartell, Vice President of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies.
