📅 April 2, 2007 - IT infrastructure services provider SAVVIS (savvis.net ) announced on Monday that it will provide all the hosting and IT infrastructure required to deploy the underlying platform for news and financial data source provider Reuters.com (http://www.reuters.com).

Under terms of the new five-year hosting services contract, Reuters has migrated its flagship Web site onto SAVVIS virtualized utility computing and utility storage infrastructure. The site will beneficially combine commercial Microsoft and other technologies including Linux, Apache and MySQL and includes all aspects for delivery of the Web site and its content, including security and global load-balancing between data center locations in the US and UK.

SAVVIS' utility infrastructure improves reliability and enables Reuters.com to scale easily as Web site traffic builds providing the framework for a modern Web 2.0 media site.
