UPDATE 2020: In May of 2018 we announced the acquisition of ServInt by Leaseweb USA, Inc. From this point on you can reach your products, make payments, change information, etc from the Leaseweb Customer Portal.
======

ServInt is a pioneering provider of high-reliability web hosting for business customers worldwide. Founded in Northern Virginia in 1995, ServInt was one of the first web hosting companies to offer a managed, dedicated server solution, and one of the original innovators in server virtualization — the cornerstone of VPS and Cloud hosting technology today. From its world-class data centers, ServInt now provides its scalable suite of VPS, dedicated and self-managed hosting options to thousands of customers in more than 60 countries.

ServInt uses multiple "Green" methodologies to serve clearly defined sustainability goals, including reducing waste, boosting energy efficiency and offsetting our carbon footprint.
The Foundation for ServInt's Success: Reliability, Security, Experience, Personal Service.

ServInt has built a loyal, global customer base by offering a wide range of scalable web hosting solutions supported by personal service from experienced professionals.

To meet the needs of small businesses, large enterprises and multi-national corporations, ServInt offers a comprehensive portfolio of web hosting solutions, including VPS, dedicated and self-managed options. By allowing customers to start with a small server and increase resources such as memory and storage as needed, ServInt provides clients with attractive pricing and a smooth upgrade experience.

ServInt offers 24-hour support every day of the year from on-site, in-country, experienced professionals at each of its data centers. From its network operations center in McLean, Va., ServInt's veteran technicians maintain and carefully monitor every segment of the ServInt network, from the programs running on the smallest server to core routers and network connections. Each data center also features multi-level network and power redundancy for optimal reliability.

In an era when many web hosting providers are moving their customer support functions to "automated" systems, ServInt continues to provide the kind of personalized service that hosting customers prefer.

At its heart, behind the servers and the switches and lines of code, ServInt is people. We are friends, cousins, siblings and spouses. And if there's one thing we value above all else, its our relationships with one another and with you, our customers.

We put this passion for the individual behind everything we do. From the network we've built to the hosting solutions, to the high-touch customer service we're known for worldwide, we believe that we are creating smart products and services for real people.

It's a rare thing to find a technology company where employees last more than a few years. At ServInt, 25% of our staff proudly wear their 10-year anniversary watches. We've been around hosting websites for a long time, and in that time we've learned a few things. One of those things is that you don't last in this business unless you listen to your customers and put their needs first.

While other companies look at server density and profit margins as measures of success, we look at the health and success of our customers and their businesses. If they are succeeding we are succeeding. In everything we do, we ask one simple question: Is it good for our customers?

Some might call that idealistic, but at ServInt we call that smart hosting.

The Five Rules of Smart Hosting
ONE. It's smart to care about your customers. We do — and that's why we have some of the longest-lasting client relationships in the hosting industry.

TWO. It's smart to care about your employees. Almost half of our staff have been working at ServInt for more than six years, and a full quarter have been here longer than 10. In fact, virtually every member of our senior executive team got started as a junior employee and worked their way up to help lead the company — so you can bet we've seen it all before, and we know how to answer your questions.

THREE. It's smart to care about the environment. We've only got one planet, and we owe it to ourselves and our children to take good care of it. Our "Green Initiative" project continually looks for new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and to maximize whatever positive impact we can have on the earth.

FOUR. It's smart to be honest. You won't find us recommending this week's trendiest technologies just because everybody else is doing it. The only solutions we provide are field-proven and market-hardened, and they work.

FIVE. It's smart to get a little carried away sometimes. Just because we're smart about what we do doesn't mean we don't get a little wound up about it sometimes. We're passionate about hosting — and it shows.

We've been in business for nearly 17 years, and we plan to be here for the next 170. We're not here to sell as many servers as possible, or cram as many customers as we can into our datacenter. We're here to help your business grow. We're here to be helpful and friendly. We're here to prove our reputation to you — as "the smart hosting company" — every day we are privileged to have you as a customer. We think that's smart.

Technology: it makes things go faster — and it makes them smarter. Our proprietary technologies are no different — but, importantly, we direct a large share of our R&D efforts to the optimization of our customer support function. So our clients see the result of our innovation every time they pick up the phone or submit a ticket. Bottom line: At ServInt, our technology supports our customer service, not the other way around.

mvScale™
As one of the first hosting companies to offer virtualized servers to its clients, ServInt has long been a leader in providing easy, rapid scalability — and lower IT operating costs — to the online business community. ServInt's proprietary "multi-vector" scaling system, mvScale™, is the reason why. Combined with our exceptional customer support, it's what makes us better than the average cloud or VPS hosting company.

Why is mvScale so special? To begin with, it's comprised of more than 70,000 lines of code, written and continuously updated by our best engineers, over more than a decade. Each line of mvScale code was crafted to enhance our customers' user experience. Some of it allows us to provision and scale our customers' servers with incredible speed. Another part of mvScale ensures that our customers always receive the bandwidth, RAM and CPU to which they're entitled. And, on the customer service end, it's the technology that empowers our support team to make instantaneous, functional changes to server parameters to meet our customers' requirements.

In other words — though it runs quietly in the background, away from public view — mvScale is one of the primary reasons our customers trust their businesses to ServInt.

Data Centers
ServInt's data centers feature state-of-the-art multi-phase power redundancy, industrial-quality cooling, high security, fire suppression and backup power generation systems. Perhaps most importantly, they're located in the richest Internet traffic distribution points in the United States. Proximity to these interchanges has a direct effect on access and transfer speeds — which are measurably higher for ServInt customers.

Our LA and DC Metro Data Center Infrastructure includes:

Closed, private data center facilities
CCTV surveillance and biometric access control
Fault-tolerant power redundancy
Powerful industrial-class generators
24/7 monitoring
Liebert temperature-controlled server environment
N+1 and redundant AC/DC UPS Power
Ample cooling capacity
Technical staff on premises

Network Infrastructure
ServInt's multi-path, self-healing, 10 gigabit core network is powered by fully meshed Cisco Catalyst 6500 and 7600 Series multilayer switches capable of traffic rates as high as 720 gigabits per second.

Our network utilizes advanced routing/switching protocols (including BGP, OSPF, HSRP, and RSTP) for rapid convergence. With diverse carriers, divergent fiber paths, and full BGP routing tables, we are able to provide a superior level of performance and fault tolerance. We maintain more than seven times the capacity our clients utilize, providing ample room for large traffic bursts. This "n+6" architecture allows us to seamlessly provide service, even in the event of a loss of multiple upstream paths.

Security
Too many hosts lull customers into a false sense of security. They post long lists of "security tweaks," many of which come standard, and ignore the fact that most problems occur when users add insecure scripts or programs to their servers.

With ServInt, your server will be delivered secure, hardened, and protected from millions of exploits found in the wild — but we also want to engage you in a partnership to meet your security needs.

While the installation of third party software applications, alteration of preferences and permissions, and other software customization decreases the security of your server, our technical staff is always on hand to offer guidance and advice on ways to mitigate these issues. We can work with you as a partner to ensure you have a stable, secure server environment while helping ensure you have as much accessibility as possible.
A more detailed list of some basic services follows below:

ServInt's Managed Services Team monitors our network and host nodes 24/7, backs up all VPS, SuperVPS, and Solo series servers nightly, and helps ensure that in the event of an attack you'll be up and running again as soon as possible.

ServInt's Green Initiative
The data center and hosting industries are rapidly becoming some of the largest contributors of greenhouse gases on the planet. In fact, a recent study suggests that data centers may surpass airplane transport as sources of CO2 emissions by 2020.

ServInt's Green Initiative was launched in 2008 to make sure we're doing all we can to reduce CO2 emissions, minimize ServInt's carbon footprint, and to help replace and rebuild diminishing resources. Here are just a few of the steps we're taking:

Virtualization, the basis of ServInt's VPS and Solo Series hosting environments, uses far less energy by consolidating sites onto more efficient host machines, and allowing us to decommission hardware that is less environmentally-friendly.
All of our hosting solutions use only high-performance, low-voltage servers, reducing energy requirements and carbon emissions.
ServInt recycles 100 percent of all recyclable hardware components and meets or exceeds environmental requirements for the disposal of all non-recyclable, hazardous components.
ServInt contributes to reforestation projects at levels exceeding the overall draw of our VPS infrastructure by at least 10 percent.

ServInt's data center build-outs reflect our strong commitment to the environment. This is part of the reason we have partnered with Coresite in our main facilities in Northern Virginia, DC, and LA. Every Coresite facility maintains a low PUE number with some as low as 1.9.

Web Hosting 101

Building a website is just the first part of establishing an Internet presence; installing that website on a server connected to the Internet — a “web server” — is how users will actually see the site you've created.

A “webhosting provider,” like ServInt, is a company that owns, operates and rents (or sells) these web servers, and offers the high-speed connections necessary to quickly deliver website content to end users.

The equipment is housed in a data center, which features sophisticated environmental control and monitoring systems, fire-suppression capability, and security systems to prevent unauthorized physical and electronic intrusion.

Hosting providers maintain their web servers, adding new hardware and software as needed, monitoring the systems to ensure maximum uptime, installing security patches, and providing customers with help and support. Most of the differences between hosting providers can be found in these areas of responsibility. Cheaper web hosts usually find the money to offset their lower monthly fees by reducing their investment in maintenance and customer support — whereas “enterprise-grade” hosts like ServInt spend more time and money making sure their customers' sites are always up and running.
