😠 SUMBAGS!! they cannot be trusted!! i was a customer for over 5 years, lost my credit card and was waiting for a new one to come in, they did NOT EVEN GIVE ME 1 month before they deleted my server and i lost all my data!!! 100s of accounts all gone!! FCUK YOU esecuredata scum!!

😠 I'd rented one or two dedicated servers from eSecureData in July 2006 and left less than a year later to go to colocation with a competitor. At the time, they were a low-cost provider, with the cheapest servers at the time (a "Generation 2" which was 64 bit Intel, 1 CPU, 2 cores) costing about $60/month. The pricing looked attractive initially, but the supposedly "unmetered" bandwidth is anything but... use too much and they will slow your site to a crawl, almost as if they were throttling you - and they don't tell you where the limits are. There was no remote reboot or remote management by any means - if the server crashed, an e-mail to 'support' would go unread until 9AM their local time... which is noon in Montréal and Toronto, 5PM in London, 6PM à Paris. There were no colocation options on offer, and the servers they were renting at the time (this was 2006) were too slow to be useful for database-intensive "Web 2.0"-style applications. 😁 I've used eSecureData since 2008, so for 10 years now. It's a fantastic company if you have the technical know-how yourself.
You can get a dedicated server for a much lower price than any other service that would offer comparable hardware. This comes at the cost of having to manage the server yourself. The company will do a fresh install of an operating system you pick, provide you with remote access credentials and that's it - from there, it's your job to install and configure the software you want, to keep the server up to date, etc.
If you know how to administer a server, it's hard to ask for a better deal. Whenever I've had to contact the support team, they responded quickly and competently. At one point, the server's hard drive seemed like it was going back, so they promptly connected a second drive, installed the OS there, added a mount point for the old drive and let me copy the data over at my own pace.
The only downside for me is their billing system, it seems geared

Custom Dedicated Server Racks
We know what you’re thinking: why not just buy racks off the shelf like everyone else? I mean, they may not be as good, but they would cost a lot less, and they’d be good enough, right? Well, “good enough” isn’t what eSecureData.com is all about. Here are some of the reasons we spend five times what an off-the-shelf rack costs to have ours custom built.
Disaster Proofing
There are a lot of reasons to use a dedicated server company. Security, uptime, bandwidth, monitoring…all of these are good reasons, but another reason that often gets overlooked is also critical: surviving disasters. If an earthquake, tsunami, tornado, hurricane, flood or even a terrorist attack occurs, you’re counting on your server company to have done everything reasonably possible to make sure that your online business is unaffected. That’s exactly why we spend the extra money to have our racks custom made. Our racks are designed and built to survive disasters of all kinds. No matter what gets thrown at them, if any racks in the world could survive it, these ones will.
Super Strong 100% Steel Construction
You may never have given this a thought, but most server racks are made of thin aluminum sheeting. We’ve even seen several racks that are made of tin. Either way, if disaster ever strikes, they’ll crumble like week-old cake. We’re just not willing to accept that for our dedicated servers. We use welded 2″ square steel tubing for our posts, and super-strong heavy-gauge lateral rails. You could drop a truck on these racks without denting them.
Airflow
Heat is one of the most common reasons why server hardware fails, and hardware failure means downtime and lost revenue. Most racks enclose all the hot air they generate inside their external shells, with a handful of little fans at the top and bottom struggling to exhaust that hot air through a few woefully inadequate vents. I guess you just have to hope that your server isn’t in the middle. Our racks are open designs, with clear airflow on every server, all the way from top to bottom. We use heavy-gauge steel mesh to protect the servers, but we allow the air to flow freely. Beyond this, each deployed rack has 750 fans in it. You read that right. Seven hundred and fifty fans. This, in conjunction with the world-class industrial air conditioning systems used in eSecureData data centers, ensures that your server gets the cooling it needs to run your websites and web applications reliably and without interruption.
Anchoring
Every single eSecureData.com rack gets bolted directly into the concrete it sits on. Not into the thin cement layer on top, but into the solid concrete below. No matter what hits them, these racks aren’t going anywhere.

We tell you exactly what our prices are, exactly what you will be charged, and exactly when you will be charged. There’s no guessing. Here are some things you should know.
Our pricing is in US or Canadian dollars, at par. We do not offer pricing in other currencies at this time. We are a very world-friendly company, and we have clients from all over the world, but we only support these two currencies at this time.
If you’ve rented monthly, your credit card will be charged upon ordering for first and last month’s rent. For example, if your monthly payment is $79, your first charge will be $158. The last month is held in reserve against late payments or other problems. Should you cancel your server, your term will be extended to include this last month’s rent. All subsequent charges will be for the monthly payment amount only ($79 in the example above).
Reinstalls of the operating system are free, but all data is lost. You should back up your data before requesting a reinstall.
Your server comes with 2 IPs. Each IP beyond these two costs $2/month, and there is a maximum of 32 IPs per server.
You may upgrade at any time to a new server. This should be done at the end of a billing cycle, as we don’t offer pro-rated refunds if you cancel early.
We don’t offer free trials, discounts or deals. Shop around. We are confident you will not find a better value anywhere.

I've been with eSecureData since Nov 2011. I've also used RackSpace, HostGator, thePlanet, and a couple others in that time. I've since folded up all my other hosting into eSecure.
The machines they rent for the prices they rent them at... wow. Flip side of that is - you, yes YOU need to know what you are doing. that 99.999% uptime guarantee that you don't see all over eSecure pages? that's because they don't control the server you rent. They can keep the power on and the network up, and the server physically running. But the keeping the software running, the machine from being compromises, the continual updating of software to keep up with the various exploits - that's ALL YOU.
Right there is why so many people have trouble. eSecure doesn't charge you $800/month for a quad core xeon with 32G ram like some fanatical company, no, they charge less than $200. So.. the compromise here - you, or someone at your company MUST know how to keep that machine running. [read more...]

😠 As I am typing now, the server is down but none is bothering to update me.
I can go on and on but one thing you should know:
I you host with esecure data , and you are planning to create a business website that will be respected by Google bots and your users, you are kidding yourself.

Awful experience here, support were slow to respond when our server was down. Didn't feel they had any commitment to service at all!

They bill you before billing date
Server restart and powercut is a very normal routine. when that happen, you say we will give you two extra weeks and then after they revert payment date to same date
Their emails seem to typed by no-humans - customer service is horrible
But I am not sure it's a company - it might be some startup ran from a a bedroom
They entice you by the price and the rest is pain in the ass

My group requires between 4-10 servers at a given time. Esecuredata has provided us with servers for over 9 months. My personal experience with them is fantastic. I have been with other web hosting company's and I have never felt that my server is ever a priority and they didn't really care. At eSecuredata my first inquiry they replied with in 10 minutes. For anyone that knows about hosting company's that timing is fantastic! Why I feel this is important is because my timezone is GMT and that they can reply in my timezone (1-6AM their time) this the biggest seller point for me.
Second great point to them is, when I needed a server created they always delivers in fast time. With OTHER hosts I remember waiting near to 36 hours before recieving my server. With eSecuredata I got my servers deployed within a hour or 2 from payment. This speed has kept me and the group I represent so happy.
At eSecuredata you really feel someone cares about you and not just another number.

😠 Had a dedicated server there for a year. After two times on a wrong machine/IP-address in the beginning, everything was fine until a scheduled shutdown for a set of new USVs. Then I had a nightmare for a week that I stopped now with my cancellation. Mixed up harddisks, mixed up boot orders, gone network. It all finished on a new machine which I found out is a Junior for 99USD while they charge me for a Standard for 179 USD. When I cancelled and mentioned the downgrade they didn't even sent me a sorry (apart from the idea of a refund).

😠 Terrible host. Always issues, all the time, never on my end. Always being told it'll be fixed, same issues always cropping up again the next month. Never any mentions when something does go down to you, you're just assumed to wait the 12 hours it usually takes it to be fixed. The lag is horrible, even just 2 people downloading will create such major lag no one else can connect.

😁 I have found eSecureData to be a good dedicated server hosting company. Although they don't provide any features (minimal Operating System install), I have found that the uptime and reliability to be absolutely amazing.
I have 6 servers with them right now and I resell them as Virtual Servers and there hasn't been a problem yet (I've been with eSecureData for 8th months now). Although they only provide hardware support, if you know what you're doing, you should be fine with eSecureData.
For the Cisco QoS system, I have found that if you use it in the middle of the night during PST, you can burst up to 100Mbp/s and not get limited.
I have 6 servers with them right now and I resell them as Virtual Servers and there hasn't been a problem yet (I've been with eSecureData for 8th months now). Although they only provide hardware support, if you know what you're doing, you should be fine with eSecureData.

I will not deny that we have had problems in the past, as noted in previous reviews. However the sign of any good business is whether or not they learn from their mistakes. I can say with confidence that we have. Since April we have doubled our power redundancy. We have also doubled our bandwidth which should greatly effect users that consistently use a lot of bandwidth.
It's true that our Cisco routers fairly distribute the bandwidth between all servers. So yes, if you plan on sitting at 100/mbps all day the Cisco system will drop your speeds, however I think you will find this to be the case with any hosting service.
Unlike many hosting companies though, our prices are more then reasonable. I'd even go so far to say they are Dirt Cheap compared to other hosting companies. With that being said, we are an unmanaged service. We offer KVM/IP access, reboots and installs. If you are not [read more...]

😉 Do not fall for the 100Mbps unmetered bandwidth. They will not be able to deliver that. My server is at 10Mbps all the time. When I asked them to fix this issue for me, the saidy their Cisco system allocates bandwidth FAIRLY to all users. FAIRLY here means they can just deliver the 10Mbps unmtered only. So the advertising for 100Mbps is misleading.
The server is actually cheaper than somewhere else even with the 10Mbps connection but I don't like the misleading advertising. I hope the post can help someone else

😠 Be careful, this company may not be as professional as it appears.
We have been hosting several web sites on a dedicated server with eSucuredata for about 1 year. Inspite of all the hype about battery backup and generators and bulletproof hosting facilities my server was down twice in the last few months.
Once because of an ice storm that somehow shut down their "redundant" backbone connection. And just this week, a 5 hour blackout that left me with a fried hard drive. Of course, I had a backup drive on that dedicated server so I wasn't too concerned until their tech team replaced my first drive, and somehow lost my backup drive.
At first, it appeared they had overwritten my backup drive, with the new install, but the backup was finally recovered about 24 hours later. You can image the stress of that situation. They were prompt in their communication during this crisis, but not always accurate.

I cant personally vouch for their service , but i would never trust a provider that gets banned from many forums for spamming their product. Even in these comments look at Terry Strong and Steve Chambers .. having the same email (centosgod[at]hotmail[dot]com ). this is a user thats been banned on other forums for spamming esecuredata.com . BEWARE!!!!

Their target customer is definitely people IT savvy who don’t need much support. If you fall in that area, you should give them a try.

😁 I've had my esecuredata server now for about a year and have had no issues at all. It has been rock solid, reliable, and fast. Overall, service from esecuredata has been great, but people need to understand where this company slots itself. They don't do handholding and if you need a company that is going to set up your software for you and that type of thing, you should move on. If you know what you're doing and you need a good server at a bargain price and you can manage it yourself, these guys rock.
