VPSlink disabled my server due to unspecified "high CPU and disk IO usage", which is supposedly an Acceptable Use Policy violation. (This is despite the fact that they list video encoding -- a highly CPU intensive task -- on their marketing website as a reason to get a Xen server).

This disabling was supposed to be done after I received 24 hour notice via email (far too short in my opinion for such a minor issue). However, VPSlink screwed up, not setting the ticket permissions such that I got the email or could access the ticket.

So, my first "notice" was that my website was disabled. I went into a panic trying to find out what went wrong. (Why did they never call me beforehand? They have my phone number, and I think that's a much quicker and more professional way to know whether I got the message that my server was using too many resources and was about to be disabled.) I finally deduced that there was a permissions problem because in response to the support ticket I opened, they referenced another ticket. I guessed the URL of that ticket, typed it in, and got the message that I didn't have permissions to view it. They then reset the permissions such that I could view it, and it was the original notification of the Acceptable Use Policy violation.

In the follow up to this, I asked to cancel my one year contract and for them refund the 9 months remaining on it. They responded with a one month refund and said "we hope it resolves your issue". I emailed back that it did not resolve my issue and despite the fact that I sent this last email was 1.5 weeks ago, I still have not heard back from them. (Again, why have they never called me to actually discuss this?)

Throughout this, VPSLink has taken a very defensive attitude, never giving me the impression they were working with me or trying to help me resolve the issue. Communication has started from the premise that they are right and I am wrong.

Well, VPSLink, you may think I am wrong, but you will never get another cent of my business.

I would advise anyone who cares about reliable service to stay well away from VPSLink.
