I've had bad experience with webhosts in the past, so when I was looking for a new one I took the time to read up on all of them.
I run a few wpmu site, a drupal based site and some other small projects.
SYN Hosting uses cpanel which was a new experience for me. I have to say it's a good choice tho. It fits well for the new as well as experienced website owner.
I can't remember SYN hosting ever going down for the year or so I've been using them. The server has gone slow a few times, but it's generally been over very fast.
So if you, like me, just want to do your thing and not want involvement from your host - SYN Hosting is a good fit for you. But the times I've been running in to trouble, the support from SYN Hosting has been over all expectations. They have been extremely helpful and their response has been very fast. I've been used to waiting a few days to get answers from other hosts, but on SYN Hosting I get a reply within minutes.
SYN Hosting contacted me because my account used up all the CPU on the server my account is on. Any other host I've used would just shut everything down and wait for me to contact them. SYN Hosting suggested a plugin for Wordpress MU that serves cached pages, to save CPU, or that I upgrade to an other type of account. When I had trouble installing WP-super-cache, they installed it for me. They have also helped me with other weird things that's been issues for me, such as errors in databases and cron jobs that was set up wrong.
I read these reviews and I think that "Well, maybe that guy's happy and nobody else is." or "Maybe that's an employee writing that review to get some sales". But I'm so happy with SYN Hosting that I just had to write this review when opportunity came.
The only bad thing I can think of is that SYN Hosting blocks certain addresses like yousendit, megaupload and some others. I guess it's to protect themselves from their servers being used to distribute illegal stuff.
So yeah, I would definately recomment SYN Hosting. Only thing I'm scared of is that if everybody knew how good it was, everybody's switch to SYNhosting and the servers might be slower...
