Buyer Beware. When I first began communicating via email with Mike Desmarais, the owner and sole employee of Supreme Center Hosting in July to move my site to his hosting server, I was assured that he could handle the task and felt very comfortable with what services Mike was offering to provide for my online gift basket business, My Fast Basket Company. But I am now learning the hard way that that couldn't be any further from the truth and what I thought would be a fairly simple process, has now become a nightmare.

On July 21, 2009, I purchased Mike’s Specialist Hosting Plan, $78.00 for a year of hosting and an additional $36.00 for a Dedicated IP Address, paying him through PayPal, which is the only form of payment Supreme Center Hosting accepts other than Western Union. I also paid him additional amounts to upgrade my email bandwidth and then Mike charged me again to move my fully functional site from my old host. He was supposed to move my CRE Loaded shopping cart and apply an upgrade I purchased by August 15th. The upgrade broke the cart in test mode. Mike said it would cost about $250 to fix. I had less than 1 day to move before my other hosting account stopped and on August 14th , so I decided to move my fully functional cart without the upgrade. Mike then charged another $90.00 because he had to download everything again to do that. So I paid him.

On August 15th, Supreme Center Hosting took control of my website and CPanel, and Mike moved my site to his servers. On Sunday my website was up but had issues, my cart administration had security issues and my email was not functional. I opened trouble tickets on Sunday afternoon on the Supreme Center Hosting website as instructed by Mike. I was then to my surprise informed on Monday afternoon by Mike that after receiving these tickets he became, “heated” and simply deleted them. Mike then advised me that he was working on the email issue and that he would fix it that night. So I waited. Tuesday afternoon came and my email was still not working. I tried to contact him again via email to find out if he had made any progress at which time Mike advised me that I could find another hosting company.

A short while after that, at 6:21 PM, I received a fabricated invoice from Mike via email billing me for $438.00 claiming that I owed him for “phone consulting”. At 6.36 PM he re-sent me the same invoice marked PAST DUE with the warning that if it wasn’t paid in 10 minutes he would shut my website down. I immediately attempted to log into my website admin and CPanel at which time I noticed that my website had been replaced with a link to Supreme Center Hosting.

Mike Desmarais had shut my website down. When I tried to reason with him, he simply cited his terms that he can suspend any website he hosts, for any reason, any time, even if the hosting service is paid current. Now Mike has illegally absconded with my business and taken my entire customer and image database hostage which he says he will only release if I pay his phony consultation bill. Keep in mind that he has no phone number listed on his site and states that he only contacts customers through tickets or email. The only time I actually spoke with Mike on the phone, was when he called me, from a private number, BEFORE I purchased his services, to convince me to host with him and a few sporadic calls I received, FROM HIM, and very late at night I might add, with minor questions about my cart. But Mike Desmarais refused to give me a phone number to reach him when I asked him for an emergency contact number.

The first thing I tried to do was dispute the charges with PayPal as he had suspended my hosting service but offered no refund for said services, at which time Mike Desmarais responded that I was wasting my time because PayPal does not allow disputes against services citing their Intangibles Clause. I was indeed notified of this stipulation by PayPal, but because I have Mike’s written email responses, I was offered an opportunity to escalate the dispute and fax to them 57 pages of correspondence between Mike and myself so they may investigate the claim. I am still waiting to hear back from PayPal.

I also contacted the local police in Chester, South Carolina, the city where I found that Mike operates as Supreme Center Hosting from his mothers home, who advised me to contact my local police departments’ Economic Crime Unit. So I did. I met with a Detective at which time I was advised that they could do nothing to help me. However, the Detective referred me to the FBI to submit my complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center at IC3.GOV, which I have also done.

Since Tuesday, when Mike Desmarais of Supreme Center Hosting absconded with my website and shut my company down, I have sent him one email response professionally asking him to restore my website so that I may back up my files and move on to a new hosting company. Even after telling Mike via email to keep the payments he has already received from me for providing no support service and although he has not honored the hosting service of which I prepaid Supreme Center Hosting for a full year by shutting my site down, Mike simply taunted me via email with the fact that I can’t dispute payment for services on PayPal. Mike operates via email only and only responds to inquiries at night and refuses to give a phone number to contact him, so he knows there is little we can do to contact him. If you visit the Supreme Center Hosting website, you will notice that Mike does not provide any references or feature any of his customer’s sites on his website. It truly is Buyer Beware.
We provide free application installations. Your's was first a site upgrade [not an application installation] which I never charged for, although we should have. We provided that service at No Charge, using a backup that had Missing Files - which is not our problem. You were charged a fee for us to Backup and Upload your files - for a second time - which is something no one should have a problem with.

Ask yourself this... would Sal at CRE Loaded, GoDaddy or another hosting provider do EVERYTHING we did for $90? I think not.

Fact is, Your CRE Loaded site had issues prior to the move and you expected miracles, and when one did not happen, you placed a chargeback to try and get your money back... which you did not receive because of the emails we have that show that we provided everything you paid for. If you had a valid claim, PayPal would have ruled in your favor.

Let's also remember that your previous host, Jason Miller, emailed me to say:

"Take her on and see.. we are not one to play the he said she said game.. same issues her host before us had."

and...

"LOL.. a few free 2-3 hour phone calls later.. multiple non-hosting tickets with suggestions that get you no where... refusing/not understanding to pay our consulting fees for such services.. and there are no emails ever unanswered to us..

some people you just can't make happy.."

and finally...

"Yeah, I noticed she had banned herself from the server with too many bad email login attempts on the 16th. She is really good at trying to blame everyone else.. and waste time.. which is why we told her we were ending all relations outside of hosting and provided her with some other choices.

I have had nothing but issues with her and email.. and I see now her godaddy hosting is bouncing back support tickets from the other day."

I would be more than willing to provide the emails to anyone who asks. : -)
