🎯 Conclusion

SiteGround is a great company offering good assistance and great features for their products. Prices are affordable, but still rather high than in the case of other competitive companies.

😁 Quality Reliable Affordable Hosting
I've used SiteGround for 13 years. Over those years, they've changed a decent bit, some of which bothered me quite a bit at the time, but they've still kept the core essentials there, and they've made some decent improvements in some areas. Although I remember being quite bothered about some of the changes, I only remember one of them, which is that they got rid of the option to use email when requesting support, but even that issue I've decided I don't mind much that they've changed. Their support is always of impressively high quality and prompt. I'm not really sure how they manage to afford such capable support given what I pay them. There's not been a single issue they've been unable to resolve for me, and I've thrown a decent number of curve balls at them. So, as long as nothing major changes, I intend to continue with them for the foreseeable future.

While the process was easy enough, I assumed that process included a payment for the new year. I received an annual reoccuring charge on my credit card and contacted Sitegound a month and two days from when they charged my card. I called customer service and he told me they would not be able to refund since I was over the month grace period. First let me say I selected 'Plan not listed', because as a collaborator I don't know what the plan is.
The support person clearly answered my question. It was the answer that I was disappointed with. I was asking about the automatic backups that are taken of our site. Specifically I was asking how to download those backups, providing an off site back. I was disappointed to learn that the facility only allowed them to be restored locally, and from them I would need to separately export the database and the flat files.

My first reaction to that is, this is a tool that is designed to up sell to a plan with more storage. Because for anything that would be difficult to rebuild if you had to start from scratch, you always want an off site backup.

This isn't somebody's payroll or bank account or pension, but it would still take an enormous amount of effort to reconstruct. Any anything that you don't want to lose, you take off site backups.

😠 This webhost has a host of articles, also tech support which is very difficult to reach and when you do simply post links to their articles instead of guiding customer. I had a terrible experience with them, I needed to fix a website that is critical for me and I needed to access it, a rep gave me wrong guidance and when I requested supervisor she starting blaming me for the problem, finally none of them could find an obvious problem and I had to find solution myself, the system was screaming the error at me: command not found but none of their support techs found it, because none use their brain, they just post articles.

😠 I found it was to hard when needing to change a credit card. It would not allow the credit card information to be changed under billing and came up with error messages, but when asked to do this through a renewal the card worked. I think the system needs to be looked at to make sure that people can update their credit card information easily. We were told it was an error with our bank, but when talking to our bank, they said that there was nothing on our side that should have stopped us from entering it. This took us time to get this done so am unhappy with the site, but the representative we talked to today was very helpful.

😁 Had an SSL certificate issue as I added it before the dns settings had propogated completely and the www version hadn't been added. Chat support was able to identify the issue within minutes and provide the advice to remove the SSL cert and re add it with fixed the issue immediately.

😃 Nikolay was fine but the SiteGround site was not at all easy to navigate. I need a much more direct way to your support service. It's called customer care and I didn't feel very much care. It took me nearly an hour of trial and error just to find the support person to chat with. Then, when my site was registered, I received a couple of server names and had no idea what to do with them. Nikolay was very helpful in explaining how I needed to reach out to a completely different agency. I paid the $30 for SiteGround to migrate my site but I sure didn't understand the error message saying I wasn't pointed at the correct place and I really didn't know where that place was, let alone how to get there. Nikolay was very good about showing me the way and now I'm waiting for a reply from internic.ca. My feedback is, I think this could be a whole lot easier for the uninitiated. Thank you for asking. 😁 At first I was disappointed with the constant updates which caused compatibility pain on my end. Being the only code and site admin, I liked backwards compatiblity and not having to touch anything to keep my site stable. However, the code libraries that I used broke my site with each update (PHP, MySQL, site controls, etc.). After discussing things with the Support rep, found out that it couldn't be helped. And like vaccine passports, the powers that be want things to stay in a subscription model state along with all the security compliance, BS, and etc. Can't be helped. SiteGround, which once was an amazing company, has gone downhill. Not only me, but my friend (who was a PAYING CUSTOMER), SiteGround suspended his account because HE WAS FROM INDIA. The worst part? He still had 5 months left in the plan and that was expensive as it was the GoGeek plan. Also, to add icing to the cake, SiteGround REFUSED to return the money stating that the refund period was over. When my friend asked them to at least resume the service till its expiration, they denied stating that SiteGround has ceased operations in India and hence they can’t re-activate his account! SiteGround simply STOLE his money! Luckily, he used PayPal to pay for the plan. So, he raised a complaint with them, and within 24 hours, he got his entire money back. Thanks, PayPal!

😁 I moved over from Godaddy to Siteground quite some time ago (I had been with them for years) and I cannot thank myself enough daily for making this move.

Their support system are fabulous, quick, easily and responsive and always give me the help I need as I am a web designer on wordpress not a genius in coding or hosting! Go daddy took an hour to answer calls and were unhelpful unless they could upgrade you somehow, Siteground are the complete opposite they absolutely help efficiently within minutes either by call or message and don't try to upsell you they just help with what you need. Half the price and three times the service! MOVE TO SITEGROUND you won't regret it. I am not a paid or promoted supporter just a grateful designer

😁 I turned cloudflare on and it immediately broke the web site. Graphics would no longer load. Tried restoring, clearing cache, disabling cloudflare - nothing. Tech support quickly pointed me in the correct direction. Turned out the problem was with my SG Optimizer - Combine Java script files. Once we turned it off, the web site was happy. From the time of clicking my tech support submit problem to the time the site was back up, was about 10 minutes. Very happy as usual with the quick help I always receive from the Siteground support staff.

I tried to sign up at your website. There was three steps, and I never got passed the second. I provided my personal details, but when I got to step 2 and someone was to verify my phone number, it couldn't be done. I went out and bought a new SIM card, and put a lot of money on it, and then tried to sign up again, but you're site could not contact me to verify my phone number. Then I found out that my credit card was charged both times I that I tried to sign up, even though I never got a chance to. I was told however that the money would be refunded to me. After some time it was, but it caused me to get very concerned, because there is literally no one that I could talk to on the phone.. only by chat. And when I asked to speak to a supervisor about my card being charged, I was told I couldn't over and over again. That made me think that the company was really going to keep the money they charged me. I checked with my Bank, and they were going to report a fraud, and everything

😁 The overall hosting experience has been nothing but excellent. The site's speed is amaazing and all the tools I have are top notch. The thing that really stands out to me, though, is the support experience. For instance, I just spoke to a guy called Dimitar and he really addressed all my concerns I had with a recent issue (between my site and Google). Not only did he answer all my questions immediatelly but he also researched further information, sent me articles, and even answered a lot of side questions I had about their Cloud Hosting.

Thanks to support like that I doubt I will ever think of moving to another hosting provider.

😁 Siteground has come through again with five star service. Due to a current bandwidth issue pertaining to a website for a client I have, I was about to max out my entire plan. Not only was the support rep (Lilia) able to assure me that everything would be fine but she also was able to help get my hosting plan upgraded as well so that I did not have to worry about any site I have on my plan going down. I love utilizing Siteground and NO other hosting provider even comes close. The service could be degraded to an extent and I would STILL stay with Siteground just solely because of the support staff. They are beyond knowledgeable and never get frustrated! If I could give this company a 100 out of 10 I would.

I have had great "up-time" and great support from patient technicians. However, the control panel has been a challenge; just as I got used to it over the last two years, SiteGround changed it - now I have a whole new learning curve that I don't want to spend time on, but must. Their prices are acceptable only because their people are so very responsive. Were it not for the up-time and people, I would have changed. I am encouraged that things may get better by the fact that SiteGround has requested input to improve. Cheers!

😁 I've been searching for new hosting and SiteGround looked good and they have delivered. I had good speed before but better now and the support that was missing is fantastic.

I have beginner/intermediate skills and use a proxied domain and transferring from a prior staging server so not hard, but not easy either. They helped migrate my sites over, explain issues I had with my options chosen and did it all via 3 chat sessions and none involved a wait time and all were in perfect English.

So far a very big tick from me and price is very reasonable. I would never pick the cheapest as they have to skimp somewhere. SiteGround seems great value.

😠 All this happened in arround 6 hours.

I had in the beginning a very good chat and I told the sales department that I wasn't very happy with my server (other hosting company) at the moment. The sales department adviced me and together we decided to go for a plan. But I explained the exact details of my requirements and this was according to him no problem. I could also test 2 websites which has a large data. After this I paid directly and we would afterwards upgrade for huge pack for arround 500 GB.

When I was migrating the 2 sites it took very long for any movement so I contacted the customer service, I had a chat with them, now they said the pacckage was too low that I had to upgrade. I told them this wasn't the agreement. They insisted that I first did the payment. I told them this was the fault siteground and they had to fix wat they had promised.

The person who has helped me was very nice, but the solution he had to provide wan't satisfying. Making mistakes can be but it [read more...]

😁 I ABSOLUTELY love Siteground! I've never seen a hosting provider so good! I used Godaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost..but Siteground is by far the best one!
Their support is the best thing! Their dev team is so kind, polite, and really wants to help you out. As I write, I just stayed over 40 minutes in a chat and they solved a complicated and annoying URL rewrite issue I was having that would take me hours and hours figuring out.
The support is also QUITE fast. You click chat and immediately there is someone there to help.
I also like how fast the server is. You see I used to host at Hostgator. My GTMETRIX score was C. The moment I transferred to Siteground, without changing absolutely nothing, my website got an A and it was loading way faster.
For someone complaining about "not having a Cpanel", all you gotta do is just talk to them in the chat and they will enable that for you very quick. They do that because people that are not Devs get intimidated by the Cpanel. Their new solution [read more...]

😁 These guys have the quickest and friendliest support. I also love that it's chat and not phone because I hate phones. (Although phone is an option if you prefer that, ya sicko.)

Their custom back-end is fantastic. They're definitely not the cheapest, but if you require great hosting, excellent speeds and friendly and efficient support, these guys are great.

If your client wants cPanel you must provide him with one. And no, your catastrophic imitation of cPanel is not enough. It's illogical, amateurish, lacks fast overview of everything.

Since they moved their host to GCP, and used a custom control panel. It has to be to worse experience ever. My websites took approximately 40 seconds to load. I confirmed this with other friends in completely different countries, and also, I had a very minimal site with around only 5 plugins. Some other guy also had a website and was complaing the same thing.

Just, never go with them really.

😠 They were great , just changed frontend and know a 100 times harder to use. If you have more than one website , forget them now they have made that extremely hard to use . Good luck on Cpanel , it's now useless , they made that almost impossible . Was so easy to use now they are just focused on money options instead of an easy access to the client. Really dont like them now , plus their great customer service has been cut down and wait times are extremely high . When something is working so well sometimes companies have nothing for their developers to do except screw it all up .

😠 we asked to upgrade our service. they shut down our website before loading it onto the new server, and we were down for 6 ours during business hours. They also told us to change our email DNS, and we lost emails, unretrievable, until we changed it back to the original settings.

I am very impressed with SiteGround. The quality of support is extraordinary. With SiteGround support I have taken on very difficult projects and succeeded every time, usually after receiving help from the support ares. They respond to tickets in a few minutes, ie 5-10 and they solve problems. Recently I have been testing Userport with Joomla 2.5 and lost my ability to sign in. They fixed the problem and helped me reinstall the application, quickly and cheerfully. I recommend SiteGround very highly.

😠 Horrible state of hardware
I have been hosting with these guys for years and devastating issues pop up regularly. I just received info that there has been a HD failure again on my main site, this is the second time on this one site. All e-mail accounts have been wiped. First time they wiped my entire website and database.

I paid for an SSL certificate in December 2010 and it took them 8 months to figure it out and today, September 2011 it is still not working. I got an e-mail from them stating that they want me to fill more forms out. And all they do is re-sell Global's certificates.

I have never gotten as much as a sorry from them. Not even a free month to re-build my business. I lost clients & money due to the horrible state of their infrastructure. HD failures are a regular occurrence every 8 months at least.

Getting hold of customer service is next to impossible alone and the company feels that they have zero responsibility for everything that is happening.

😠 Disappointing hidden limits!
I was with them for about 6 six years..in the beginning they were helpful and no limits were on the acct until a couple of years ago inodes and processor limits and backup limits started appearing in cpanel..so with a large site like mine it was impossible to download a backup without paying!soon my website was getting more traffic and the server was blocking the site of without them even telling me about it..when i contacted support (which is a entire mission by the way)they offered me a server for 100bucks a month..so from 8.95 to 100 dollars !! madness!!eventually they came up with another solution and that was 25 dollars still way too expensive considering the traffic of the site!even that server was limited so no good for my needs..i am sorry but the unlimited service they offer is a scam!!be careful or you will paying for it believe me !thanks for your attention.

when i've got the chance to try it with their "Friends Special Hosting" back then i just think "why did'nt i try their friends special first, if they good as i think they were maybe i upgrade it with more fire power" then i pay it just to test their capabilities...n you know what,their hosting is suck they say unlimited but limit my files,unmetered bandwith but limit only 20 process at a time and they gave only one domain..

😁 I'd previously hosted small business domains elsewhere, and SiteGround is head and shoulders above the others I've experienced. Great features at a very good price--maybe not THE absolute bare minimum price, but excellent for the features, and outstanding for the service! That's the thing, what makes SiteGround stand out compared to other value providers: They actually provide customer service! With other low-cost providers I tried, things were fine...Until something didn't work, that is! Then good luck! One place I tried, they simply literally never responded at all to any service questions. I've had very few problems with SiteGround in the first place, but hey, stuff happens, and when it has, they not only respond, they're courteous, and they fix the problem. And note, I do NOT have their premium service, just the regular old discount service. Great provider, very impressive over these past couple years!

😁 Well, all I can say is that I was planning to move onto another webhost less expensive; however, I thought of the excelent services SiteGround provided me and realized SiteGround was worthy.
So, I did not have to think it twice; Site Ground was so good to me that I did not want to go into an adventure with a different webhost, just to save a couple of bucks.

😁 Site ground offers a great price on hosting. Seriously I have not found a cheaper hosting service that also offers such great features. The only downfall I find in SiteGround is that you can only have 5 add-on domains, and you must pay for each one. Aside from that, SiteGround is top notch at a very affordable price. I would recommend them to anyone looking to host a site. Uptime has been 100% for me, I payed only 25$ for a year of hosting and a domain name. All in all, a truly great hosting site

😁 I keep reading on this page certain experiences/statements that simply do not coincide with our experience with siteground.

We have been tired of hearing "everything looks good on our end" from GoDaddy. Their server uptime typically was 95-98% for the last 6 months (!!!) With downtimes as serious as 14 Hours in a day!

We transferred our site to siteground. 100% uptime.

We purchased a reseller hosting to realize that it was overkill for us. Requested refund back - promptly billing support analyzed the situation, issued refund back $195 (including the set-up fee). Per their policy - refunds issued within 30 days of the order. Simple. No problem.

No, we did not find any phone support compared to GoDaddy. But after spending our precious time with uneducated reps (too many of them lately at godady), we realized it was pointless to have a phone support without strong system backing. customer support is only good when they are doing sales. aside from that they dont want to chat with you directly and send you a ticket instead after you paid them.

Very Disgruntled Customer (-no email-)

😠 Appalling customer service. I have just been accused of doing something deliberately to get around their terms of service.

The may offer unlimited hosting - but check thier TOS. It puts a 5GB limit of backup files, 5G on media files etc.

Anyway, we mirror our Knowledgtree document management filesystem on a shared server. Knowledgtree stores it's files without a file extension.

This makes it difficult for their incompetent support personnel to say if I have exceeded a particular 5GB limit.

Because they can't do this they regularly threaten to terminate my account - even when though they can't prove it.
