People need to know the businesses they use as much as businesses need to market to the right customers.

It looks like a lot of negative reviews are from people with low patience, high IT skills and a significant amount of material to host. If this is the case, then iPage may not be the best solution for massive quantities of website and email storage.

But smaller businesses and organizations may enjoy iPage's creative ways of establishing a system of plug-and-play software, freeware, open-source and a handful of useful tools that can be used - especially for a staff with limited IT skills or budget.

The price is a good value at $4.50 a month for the hosting package that includes a domain, emails, six-page website and so on. Sometimes it's lowered, depending on what specials are offered.

Customer support is great, if you actually have conversational skills. Shooting an email and getting upset they didn't respond to you in less than a minute.. dude, just pick up the phone and be nice. CS is great - courteous, knowledgeable and can help with most questions. Sometimes they will get back to you, but I've received all answers on the spot.

FTP and load times can be shoddy here and there, sometimes due to the content from the plug-and-play items, sometimes due to the server. But I've never received a notice about downtime or limited storage.

If your small-to-mid-sized organization is looking for a $4.50/mo. option and you don't need MASSIVE storage space, MASSIVE amounts of Internet bandwidth and don't have the need for a hardcore IT department, then iPage is great!

But if you have high demands - primarily in business, but also with a whiny, unsatisfied IT department - then go somewhere else.
