I see atlantic.net is still offering award winning customer service!
First I just want to say, I have had a web hosting account with atlantic.net for a long while and I have noticed a big decline in the great support they used to have over the last few months along with what seems to be more and more server outages.
Now mind you, that prior to this latest support incident, my site was down for a good week or so and I was told by an employee named Ryan that the server my site was on got infected with a virus that their "Senior Engineering" couldn't get rid of and they had to put me on a new server.
Having said that, I would like to share my latest support disappointment.
I use my web site for business purposes. I also travel quite a bit to meet with prospective clients and need to be able to access my web mail when needed as I do not like to use my e-mail client on my laptop in case it gets lost or stolen. Well I needed to access my web mail account so I could retrieve a very important document and web mail kept timing out when trying to log in. So I called atlantic.net's so called support and after about 20 minutes of waiting on hold, I was greeted by some @hole named Tristan who was very rude and he had a "why are you bothering me" attitude the whole time I was talking to him and he was very short and rude and was trying to rush me off of the phone. After I was able to get an explaination to him that web mail was timing out, he tried to blame the problem on my end and he told me that there were no problems with the web mail because he was able to log into "his web mail account". Then without even checking, he says oh well your probably over your storage quota which I told him that was clearly not the case as I always set my office computer's e-mail client to leave messages on the server when I have a business trip and that my partner was able to check e-mail just fine back at the office and that I tried more than one connection. (wireless and wired) But yet he still kept on insisting that there was no way they were having problems. Needless to say I was extremely unhappy with the service. So I asked to speak to his manager and he gave me some garbage that he was a manager and that there was no one else I could talk to. To make a long story short, I had to have my partner print out the document and make a long distance fax to my hotel.
Thank you atlantic.net, I will be canceling my account as I have talked to a few other web hosting companies and they have mentioned the fact that they have gotten quite a few customers that switched over from atlantic.net due to poor support.
Way to go atlantic you guys will be losing another customer! If you guys are employing techs like Ryan and Tristan, than you guys will be losing customers left and right!
I would not recommend atlantic.net to anyone!
