Customer Relation
Two years after canceling hosting I am starting to receive emails from them asking for payment and telling me the account is being sent to a collection agency.

No one in billing support at addr.com has authority to close the case, and can only repeat policy statements about the situation that must be followed.

Two years ago when my annual renewal came up, I decided to switch to another hosting company. I called addr.com sales as a courtesy to let them know I was leaving. The phone call was friendly and the cancellation taken. When I hung up, I thought my relationship with addr.com was over.

Now, two years later, I find out that company policy requires cancellation be done differently than by phone. The person I talked to did not tell me that when I canceled two years ago over the phone.

The suggested option from addr.com to settle this is to cancel now using their web form, and agree to pay for all the time from two years ago to now. A year ago, nothing was done to collect for that unpaid year ending. They waited until two years passed before mounting a campaign to collect payment from me.

My suggestion to close the case and forget about it is not possible under their company policy. There doesn't seem to be a reasonable way to settle this case, and it looks like it will drag on longer. It's a waste of time for both sides.

Who would have guessed that a simple courtesy phone call to let addr.com know that I was no longer going to use them as my hosting site that ended in a friendly way would turn out to have been so critical. I should have recorded the phone call and followed up with a registered letter.

Be careful when dealing with this company. It is in business to take your money, and they work at it.

My reason for quitting addr.com was because of quiet changes in their terms and conditions that I didn't agree with. I took my business to a site with terms and conditions that I could agree with.

Anyone thinking of buying service from addr.com should be very careful in all their dealings and not treat them like a trusted partner.
