No replies to 3 tickets lodged
Joined Webcity on the 23th of Nov 14, had my site up for a couple of hours. Since then, 5 days later, NOTHING. No support within 2 hours to my 3 tickets.
Very hard to rate any thing for WEBCITY above 1 ..

Webcity does not have an meal address, does not reply to tickets submitted via its system and only allows you to leave messages on its voicemail.

My email is down 60-70% of the time, and my website has been down the entire day.

Give this hosting provider a wide berth. Prior to a year ago I had recommended them as they were OK and reasonably priced but in the past year not only their prices went up but the place has gone to the dogs with no explanation given.

Where do I start. Let’s start from calling the 1300 65 55 90 and by the time anyone answer the phone its 45 minutes later and the call has cost you $20. Maybe I should mention the fact that 24/7 support is now not existent and forget getting support after hours and on the weekend as they’ve decided they will only take calls or respond to any support emails if it falls within Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Even if you accept that you would think after someone answering the phone you will get someone offering an intelligent answer or a solution as to why your site (and in my case many sites) has gone down but NO, the standard answer is “our techs are looking into it”. The Webcity High Availability Server Architecture (HASA)

As of January 2008, all new Professional Hosting plans will be hosted on Webcity's new High Availability Server Architecture (HASA).

Webcity Develops Server Architecture - Australian budget domain registrar and Web hosting provider Webcity (webcity.com.au) announced on Wednesday it has developed a world-first server architecture that provides high availability, clustered hosting to the budget hosting market.
Two years in development, the High Availability Server Architecture is designed for the cPanel (cpanel.com) based shared hosting product. The company says it plans to apply HASA to all of its hosting plans. Webcity says HASA helps to increase the real time redundancy in the event of any potentially problematic servers and their software, as well as reduces the time needed for scheduled outages. unreliable servers, rude staff. No support.
I have hosted multiple accounts for several years. In the past the servers have gone down for a few hrs and then come right. The last two months have seen them down for days or weeks at a time. Phoning support results in a standard "It's down for maintenance" response. If you push further they just use the scratched record approach and repeat the same lie. The last time I phoned and suggested I would go elsewhere, they actually said "Good"!! and hung up on me. NEVER NEVER USE WEB CITY. I am in the process of moving my accounts to Go-daddy (they actually try and help you).

As far as hosting is concerned, great! But if anything goes wrong and you have a good chance that there will be problems and rude support.

I my case, i have an unlimited plan with unlimited WEB space and Unlimited bandwidth and been a member for 8+ years. We have made available to our members training videos and record of their training on the site. In the past few year we have changed to HD which uses 6 times more space. Lately , we have not been able to upload anything as the we receive the error message; No Disk Space.

Contacted WEB city 4 weeks and and received the response (after a 2nd follow up e-mail) that they are having disk space problems and working on it. Four weeks later and i still have not been able to upload files and e-mails result in deafening silence from WEB City.

I am now looking at creating mirror sites so that i am not dependent on one host. One site is already set-up and working; exactly the same size as my WEB city account, without any problems with [read more...]

Worst web host in the world! Only been with them less than a month, and I have been left frustrated. I don't know how they're allowed to stay in business. Non existent customer support - they ignore emails like the plague, or make you wait up to 3hrs on hold to get through to someone who is clueless to your issue. I've been extremely disatisfied with their lack of customer service, that I have moved to a new web host. Never ever going to sign up with them again, and I HIGHLY suggest you avoid signing them up as your web host.

Webcity has by far the worst customer support in the industry and its not even close. I honestly have no idea how they are still in business. I transferred all my domains away from them as every time I tried to put a new website up they would change the CNAMES and DNS and the site would no longer be displayed. You have to contact them a minimum of 8 times (this is no exaggeration) and call them another 8 times to follow up (again, no exaggeration) before anything is fixed. Do yourself a favour and do not use this service.

Have had basic sites hosted with WebCity over a number of year and I've had no problems. Haven't needed to contact customer service much but they've always got back to me within a business day.

Would certainly recommend them for simple sites that don't use a lot of multi media.

Reminders are great, even SMS reminders for upcoming hosting expiry.

I've hosted my own site/email and also several other sites with webcity for several years, and have had NO problems at all with them.

Compared to another Queensland based provider who shall remain nameless, who changed the hosting servers some time ago, did not notify users, and when I was uploading changes to the site, they were going to the old servers, and not appearing on the site. Cowboys.

I would recommend Webcity.

They just dont do what they saY then lie to cover up or start asking you the customer " Do you know how long most corparations hold times are?" No mate i dont keep statistics on phone hold times for Telstra

I have a couple of sites hosted at WebCity.
As soon as I can I will get these sites hosted elsewhere.
Their customer support is cr@p, and their senior staff/managers are arrogant and unhelpful.

If you are thinking of doing business with webcity - DON'T!!!! You will regret it for a long time to come.

I have used webcity for a number of years and never had a problem. Recently I have gone through a major site upgrade, customising a joomla install. I was finally happy with it, and guess what???? I left the site after adding a new article (I run a website with news, art etc) and went to check the look of the formatting about two minutes later and i got a big message saying "ACCOUNT SUSPENDED: PLEASE CONTACT" bla bla bla.

I have never had a problem with them, but judging by these other reviews they seem to just illegally close down your site without a reason or warning. This is dog tactics, sorry, but I am a bit angry at the moment, 2-3 months work and some person at webcity.com presses a button and the whole thing might be deleted! THEY BETTER NOT HAVE.

Other than that they are a great host... so join up be happy, then check your site one day to see they have deleted the whole thing without any reason. If they disliked my poetry or articles then they could have contacted me! [read more...]

I have had hosting with webcity for almost 2 years. Before that, I had hosting with 2 other providers, in both cases the server started out ok but then became very slow, so thats why I moved away from them. With webcity, the server has stayed very fast and responsive the entire time I have been with them. Maybe the reason for it is specifically that they don't allow a few big CPU hogs to take up all the server.

The support they provide is good for the price, ie very basic, you won't get much help if you have any sort of complicated problem, but I have never had to wait more than 2 minutes on hold, and emails always got responded to the same day.

I would definitely recommend webcity for most web sites.

Do not use Webcity for hosting your site!

They used shared hosting which is advertised as "unlimited" but in fact is "extremely limited".

I rang three times to update my email address. They failed to update it.

Your account is limited by CPU cycles. You cannot consume more than 5 times the average usage of the server you are on. What is this in number terms? Webcity can't tell you. Technical support can't tell you and the real actual server admins don't speak to customers.

You'll get an email being told your account is consuming too many CPU cycles. You need to reduce it. By what amount? Who knows! You optimise your account and wait. Did your account get suspended? If not, then congratulations, you managed to get your CPU usage below some magical unknown number. If it did, well, you didn't abide by the policies and they don't have to refund any money to you at all.

These guys are the worst. Never come across such bad support or service. They'll pull your site at a moments notice and never even bother to inform you.

Customer support is terrible. I had a problem and opened a support ticket. It took 2 days to get back to me with "Check your logs for more information". That was it.

I've hosted approximately 10 websites with webcity. The longest ones nearly 3 years. I've found them to be well-organised, highly reliable and dependable. I can't fill in a customer relation note because I've very rarely ever had to contact them about anything. One of my sites is www.townsvillecycleclub.org.au for nearly 3 years, trouble-free hosting.
