About Rootbsd

Rootbsd.net is the leading provider of stable hosting services based on the trusted BSD platform. We can solve your hosting problems from small to large with our bullet-proof VPS and dedicated packages backed by friendly technical support.
Rootbsd.net was established with one simple goal in mind: To provide reliable BSD-based hosting services to advanced professionals and businesses. Originally we were searching for a quality service provider to work with us on providing hosting. A lengthy search yielded many providers that only offer BSD as a haphazard option to their packages designed for Linux or providers who simply don't meet the business requirements in reliability and stability that we were looking for.
Rootbsd.net aims to only do one thing, and do it well: Provide you with a rock solid BSD hosting solution.

Rootbsd pales in comparison to Linode
While I like FreeBSD better than Linux, RootBSD comes out below Linode in a few areas:

1.) You get more value with Linode. For example, you only get TWO cores assigned to your VPS with RootBSD. With Linode, you get 8 cores! Linode is also more generous with RAM for the price (which is important for a VPS.)

2.) RootBSD does not even allow the running of a small IRC network whereas Linode does not prohibit you from running an IRC server. This is ironic considering that RootBSD uses IRC as a medium for support/inquiries.

3.) With RootBSD, you do not get the flexibility to create every single filesystem you want. RootBSD staff sets this all up on your behalf (such as with swap using their defaults.) There does not seem to be the same level of automation that Linode offers.

I appreciate that there is a FreeBSD VPS provider in existence, but they need to fix the above issues to even be considered on par with Linode...
