HostMDS is Good and Affordable.
I have been with hostmds for a while. They had some issues back in 09, but had a management change in 10 and service has been excellent ever since. I have over a dozen domains running with them. Can't beat their dedi deals !

They deleted my website, then refused to restore it. They have constant problems with accessibility and terrible support. Then they tried to bill me after I had already canceled. They're a bunch of lying incompetent idiots. I moved to host gator and haven't had a problem since.

We have just terminated our contract with HostMDS. Originally it was VistaPages but then a couple of years ago it switched to HostMDS. Their billing department has been unable to process invoices in a timely manner leaving our site down for days. Their technical support staff took our website down without notice because they said we were hacked into. Then when I asked them for a backup (isn't that what they should be doing anyway) they said they didn't have a recent one and restored a backup from 2 years ago which was considerably outdated and caused us to have to redo all our mailing lists and web pages.

Recently when we decided to let the account lapse they all of a sudden processed an automatic payment (of which they have never done in the past 3 yeears) When we asked for a refund they blamed it on us and our inability to cancel the invoice.

Our site was up 97% of the time. We solely chose their service based on price and ability to host JSP pages so I suppose you get [read more...]

I'm leaving this host. I started with hostingplex who then were bought by hostmds. They deleted my entire website and then said it was too difficult to restore it from their backups. Then they got angry with me. You never want a host that will delete your site "accidentally" and then not restore it from backups. They're the worst hosting company that I've ever had.

Also, their spam assassin settings weren't available. They sent me screen shots that were inaccurate. Their tech support is the worst.

I started off with hostingplex which was very good all the way up to the end where they sold out to hostmds without informing customers. I only found out about the sellout when services stopped and support would not get back to me.
I had 3 domains with different accounts, of these one server was down for 2 months, all data was lost. I had to quickly sign up with another provider and restore from backups. Forget about reimbursements from the 1 year of services left..
The second account I passed on to another web support company that quickly change the web hosting provider.
I write this now because the 3rd and final account has been down for the past 3 days. Its easter and I hope that it is down due to lack of techs on deck and not because of a major outage resulting in data loss again.
Once I get the data backed up I am jumping ship.

These guys are the biggest scam out there. I signed up with vistapages back in the beginning and they were really good. Then this garbage company bought them, and hosting went south really really fast. I had a monitor running for 3 months and it said i had 82% uptime. Absolutely terrible. I was emailing and calling them every night to try to get them to fix it. Most phone calls were ignored and emails were always pre-written messages. My contract is finally up soon and I'm getting out fast!!

I'm giving this one star because that's the lowest one could. I opened my hosting account with VistaPages, which then became HostMDS. Since then, the service has been nothing but terrible. They wrote up whatever they felt like in TOS and changed it as they pleased. They would suspend my account now and then without any warning or explanation. Finally, they suspended my account saying I was doing too much processing. I agreed to take down my processes even though they failed to give me a more appropriate technical explanation. I shut down almost entire backend, and monitored my account for 48 hours that it was not causing any problem. But they shut down my account once again without a warning or explanation. When asked for a reason, they told me I brought down their server. That's neither technical, nor useful. A guy there named Mohit Sharma went personal on this and made sure that my account doesn't get reactivated. When called, their customer service reps hung up on me - twice. I [read more...]

The worst company I've ever dealt with, I have 3 servers with them on 2 accounts, 1 server has crashed twice for no reason and it took them hours to reboot it, the other server has crashed once but because the senior administrator was out for the weekend I had to wait from Friday to Monday morning until it was rebooted.

HostMDS is a fraudulent company. Their former company Hostvector charged us fraudulently for accounts that were not ours. We discontinued our account twice and even still we continue to be automatically deducted through our account. The assistance is subversive, evasive and criminal. She refuses to pass along to a manager and avoids reimbursing fraudulent charges by insisting that they have no record of payments made even though bank charges to our account show that they have. DON'T GO NEAR THIS COMPANY.

Over the last couple of years my site has been down more often than I would like, but it has usually been up again within a couple of hours.

Support is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes I'll get a response from them very quickly, sometimes it's even helpful, but over the last few weeks in particular, my site has been going down more and more frequently, and as I write it has been down for almost 36 hours. Response from support has been very quick, but it's just the "We apologise for the inconvenience and are looking into it..." message again and again.

In short, it's pretty cheap and the features are ok, but if you're looking for reliability, HostMDS is not for you.

Don't ever host with this company. My website is down at least twice a month. Tech support lies to you and respond time is generally over 24 hours. According to awatch, the uptime for my website last week was 87.25%. Socialengine's website recommended this company without first checking them out. What a mess. Don't say I didn't warn you!

I was hosted by Hostingplex, but then they sold to HostMds. Ever since the take over my hosting is hit or miss. Sometimes my sites are up, sometimes they're not. As I write this, my sites have been down every night for the past week! It's absolutely ridiculous!

I read many of these reviews before renewing with Host MDS. My uptime has been pretty good. I'm sure it's not five 9's or anything, but for most people it's fine. Their Support is actually quite good. Each time I open a ticket with them they are very quick in replying and typically have a solution in place.

This is a pretty inexpensive host and you do get what you pay for. But for the price, they're not as bad as these reviews make them out to be.

This is the WORST hosting company known to man hands down garbage in a stick. Back when it was Hostingplex before the total meltdown it was a pretty decent company with a substantial uptime and friendly helpful customer service. When Milienium Data took over in November 2008, almost a full year of hot steaming garbage occurred. I mean server hacks, server transfer issues, DNS configs, you name it, it happened to me. Recently today after 3 months of trying to call I was blessed with someone answered the phone for once. Boy was she a winner for technical support, not only did she degrade me, she also wouldn't assist me in transferring domains until I opened up a ticket with Opensrs.com Compliance Officer because guess what? HostMDS is not an authorized Registrar, they wholesale from Tucows. Something they don't mention in there contracts etc. Horrible service, horrible attitudes, with a you broke it attitude we won't fix it. Just plain out horrible to the point it made me cuss.

I used vistapages, and it worked great (except that they lost all my data once!)

Now, HostMDS has been down for over 3 weeks, and all I get from them is "sorry, we're working on it."

I'm definitely not reneweing.

In compare between HostMDS and the HostUpon, the hostmds is much more better.
I've been using them about 6 month, they had suspend me once, but the server load seem good.
The best thing i know and that the thing i need in hostmds is the streaming ability.
Using hostmds, you can use video sharing script, the sever is ready to use for video script like clip share, php motion, Social Engzine...
I quite like them, i know the fact that sometime the customer service is lower than others.

I was with vistapages for over two years, which was bought out by HostMDS. They have ZERO support. They somehow tried charging me $1199 (instead of $94), and made it incredibly difficult to get things straightened out (many phone calls, left messages, etc). They claim to have 24/7 support, but calling after 5pm leaves you on hold for ~25 minutes, after which you get a notice that you need to enter a "priority support agreement number', otherwise get disconnected.

Extremely frustrating experience.

I gave HostMDS an overview rating of 1, because they are absolutely HORRIBLE when it comes to up-time reliability. It seems that at least 5 days out of the week, you're undoubtedly going to sit there WAITING and WAITING and WAITING and WAITING for your site to come up. It is absolutely HORRIBLE. I just wrote them for the 12th time in the past 2 weeks letting them know that my site is just CRAWLING (and it's hardly doing that).

I really should press matters in regards to a refund as it has been THAT BAD. I honestly don't know why I stuck with them this long. Laziness on my part I guess.

Everything else is so-so. The only good thing is that they use cPanel. Otherwise, stay clear of this company unless you're okay with your site not loading.

HostMDS is simply terrible. As you can see from all the reviews, the support is absolutely non-existent. They never respond back to emails and sites are often down.

HostMDS buying HostVector is quite possible the worst thing that has happened in the hosting industry. Don't blame anyone but yourself if this host screws you over, which they will.

Hostingplex to hostmds = bad to worse. I have transfered all my domains but two from this company and cancelled all my clients hosting accounts.
The remaining two are only there only because the wont bother to return my calls, answer any of my support tickets or return my email in order for me to cancel.

The worst Customer service and the technical support in non existing.

One my accounts is up for renewal shortly and they say that "Payment will be taken automatically" from my visa they have on record. However they will not let you cancel your account.

Stay away from this company!

Truly horrible! I rarely write reviews but this really goes over the top. Constant down time for the past 3 months. Server14 crashed and they didn't bother to tell anyone. It's been down for 8 days with no estimate of its return to service.

The technical supprt may respond in a few days or they may not. It's really hit or miss.

I think I'm stuck because they will not refund my money.

I tried to get a refund after multiple outages and they refuse. This company is the worst ever. They will not be in business for long, don't waste your time (I switched to Telus) but my HostMDS account is still "active" because they refuse to refund my money. This morning I got this emai from theml:

Talk about a crappy hoster. Don’t even think about paying for hosting with them. My websites have been down 70% of the time. I always put in support tickets asking them whats wrong and they say “Hardware trouble, should be fixed soon”. Now i can’t even access my server! Sure there prices are good, but that’s all you’ll get out of them. DO NOT PAY THEM! FIND A DIFFERENT HOST!

HostMDS aquired our provider, hostingplex right in the middle of us trying to get a refund for services (the cluster) that hostingplex did not provide. We did get a refund for the unprovided services. Then we suffered an outage with HostMDS that took a day to fix. Then a few weeks later we suffered a second outage that rather than fixing the HostMDS tech reported to us that we were using a backup server (of course we already knew that).

So we asked HostMDS to cancel our service and refund the balance of fees we had paid in advance. They told us they "could not do that".

Basically they have repeat outages, poor technical support (I think a high school student could do better than their staff), and they take money for services they don't provide.

My advice is to stay away from HostMDS and if they acquire your provider switch to someone else at the earliest opportunity.

My church bought hosting with VistaPages. Everything was fine. After Host MDS bought VistaPages, everything has gone south. Our e-mail started showing that the certificate was bad and we couldn't get the mail. I contacted HostMDS and after several attempts the mail worked for a few days. Now they tell me I need to just tell Internet Explorer to accept the certificate that is there and all will be fine. I replied that I would have to go to several workstations to do that. I asked them to fix the problem there and if they couldn't fix it to let me know as I would be getting my hosting someplace else. Today, the whole web site is suspended without notice. So I loose about 9 months of service. Well, in this case I loose 9 months of bad service. I am migrating the church account to Christian Web Host.

I have had different two websites with hostingplex, which was bought by hostmds. Under hostingplex is went down too frequently. But now it is down once or twice a month. Email interruptions, down time and very hard to reach customer support to fix their problem.
They have gone down so far. Today was the last blow. After taking my main business site to another provider, I was hoping to wait until the the contract for second site was close to ending. But it went down againvtoday, again. Too unreliable, poor service, tech support never gets back to you and can't seem to fix problems (it takes several tried). They send an email saying it is fixed, but you must check it.
Don't use this company.

My site and about 12 of my clients were with Hostingplex, which had some issues, but generally was the best for the price... HOSTINGPLEX got bought by Hostmds
now, you can tell when they are having rain in Canada... My sites are up, the emails are down.. My emails are up, my site is Down, Repeatedly!

I was an affiliate for Vistapages which was bought by Hostmds. I received a note from the previous owner that he was going to be working with Hostmds. Vistapages owed me $210 for previous referrals. I have sent several requests that payment be made but no answers and no money. I guess the Better Business Bureau is the next step.

I had my website via vistapages and they worked fine, then when hostmds takeover vistapages the services is so bad, as well as the support, my websites were down for a long time, one of this websites was a project of college, at the day of the apresentation the website of course was down, I got screwed up by them. Please guys, do not sign up that hosting provider. You'll really regret, trust me. I'm looking so forward to my one year account ends so I can get rid of it and look for another hosting service.

I forgot to mention, my website got hacked. Thanks Hostmds ;)

i was a hostingplex satisfied customer for 5 years. suddenly i get this e-mail from hostmds without warning im a bout to be migrated. i then find out this is not spam, but hostmds apparantly purchased hosting plex. since november 5th my sites were down. very bad support. they give an answer to your support tickets. then close them even if the problem is not fixed. the more you yell. the worse it gets.

I finally had to move to a new more reliable host because i was loosing money FAST.

DO not use hostMDS until they get thier act togeter.

As the other two reviews before me; I am also dissatisfied with HostMDS and was a previous Hostingplex user.

I was informed that they had merged and a few days later was informed that the server transfer would take place...then things hit the fan. I noticed major downtime for my websites. They I couldn't load the cPanel. Now my pages have an error saying the server has been reset...I cannot even log into my cPanel now because my username and password don't work (and haven't changed).

I was getting decent response from them, but now that I want a refund they are taking their sweet time.

Apparently after the migration of servers they had a DDOS attack and have been "fighting it ever since". Customer service lacked to inform me days after days of me asking what was wrong with my site/cPanel and after 2 weeks I was given resources to their forums where they had been keeping "up to date information" that they were "directing all their customers to". I had hostingplex and just recently it got combined into hostmds...

My website has literally been down for a FULL WEEK.

INSANE! What's even the point?

I just asked for a refund and I will switch hosting...hopefully they give me a refund as I JUST paid to stay on for an extra 2 years...

hostingplex wasn't that bad though...

I have had nothing but problems since HostMDS took over my prior company.

My e-mail is down several times a week and most of the weekends. My web site is no longer being uploaded correctly (even though it use to work fine). I made all their recommended changes... with out luck.

Now I am back to the Phone/Chat/Submit Ticket circle again.

The phones go unanswered and after 10 min on hold, you have no choice but leave a message. Today, the live Chat does not even work.

I have several e-mails requesting they fix the problem.
