Hostek used to be a great company. Now their support personnel routinely answer your inquiries with wrong answers or answers that make no sense. They simply don't even try anymore. I have tried speaking with a manager several times but they just ignore my requests. This company clearly doesn't care about it's customers or their problems.
Their downtime is inexcusable and their critical infrastructure has been down so much I have had to move all my critical services back to my own servers. Last month, their entire DNS server infrastructure went down for hours and my customers thought I went out of business when all our sites and support services were down for most of the day.
This company has done more to hurt my business than anyone or anything else. Stay FAR away from Hostek as they are AWFUL! Just search Twitter for Hostek and read the endless complaints and problems about downtime.

I have been in the web business since 1995 and I've always hosted my own servers. A huge number of my domains were acquired so I figured I would move to a VPS solution at Hostek. Well what a huge mistake. Aside from having both a rude and inept service dept. I've just been informed that the backups I was paying for we're never performed and due to their poor security I have lost over a months worth of data. And on top of it all they were about as rude as you can get over the situation.

Many of you have asked questions like "how did you get started" or "how big are you", etc. I have always enjoyed sharing the stories behind these question in person, over the phone or in email. After hearing over and over that we should tell the story on our site, well, here you go.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
Way back in early 1998, a couple of acquaintences wanted to get a web site online. With the founders being in the computer/IT industry, it was natural for them to be approached about getting a site online. We knew we could provide better customer service for these customers than they could get anywhere else. So, we immediately took these two customers and got a reseller account with a host at that time, back in 1998 (these two customers are still customers today).
THE EARLY YEARS and NOW
After about a year we got our own server through a colo facility. After a couple more years we got our own servers, racks, switches, firewall, etc. As we grew, we made major improvements to the quality of servers we use. We now only use Dell PowerEdge servers. Our network administrator continues to make improvements in our network constantly. We continually improve our switches and use top of the line firewalls. In case you are interested, we use a couple of the IPS 5500 Toplayer Mitigator firewalls. Backups... we can't forget the backups. We now have several redundant backup servers for storing the nightly web, email and database backups.
Control panels... as many of our long time customers know, we started with no control panel. Over time we began offering the Helm control panel and the cPanel control panel. With the acquisition we made in the fall of 2007, we began also offering the Plesk control panel. Everyone seems to have their own preference as to the control panel they use.
Not only are we growing by word of mouth and many other avenues, but we are growing by acquisition too. As I mentioned above, in the fall of 2007 we acquired a small hosting company in Georgia, USA. They had several hundred customers and was a great first buy for us. We continually are looking for other hosting companies to buy, except on a bigger scale now, so if you know of a hosting company looking to sell, let us know. In case you are wondering, no, we are not looking to sell.
What can I say... our support team is just AWESOME! Our team is focused on answering your questions very quickly, and generally we answer most questions in 5-45 minutes. Do you like calling or emailing a support line to just to find out you are dealing with someone in another country, that just repeats your problem back to you? I seriously doubt it. That is why we are a 100% USA based support staff, along with our servers and our sales/support offices also located in the USA.

Site literally goes down every week. Usually I have to tell them what to do to fix it. Even then, they dont listen. They keep playing around trying to figure out what I already told them while I sit here losing money. (ecommerce site)
I've hosted 4 sites with Hostek. Two for clients and two are mine. I have on numerous occasions contacted Hostek both through their ticket system and via phone and they have always jumped right on my issue and gotten the issues resolved as soon as possible.
I've found Hostek's pricing extremely reasonable and best of all, their customer support has always been amazing considering the price that I'm paying.

Lots of down time with Hostek the past year, especially with database servers. Hostek is not what they used to be when we began with them 8 years ago. Quality of their hosting has gone steadily downhill each year. We're looking for a new host with our 6 domains due to the latest database server down time and extreme slowness where they've overloaded the capability of the server.
They have very good support that you can chat anytime... they resolve the issue as quickly as they can! God bless Hostek.com and More Power!!!!

I am thoroughly content with the company (which is quite a rare thing these days). I am so glad I found them in my search for a reasonably priced Coldfusion host. Tech support is a bunch of ninnies, and administation/sales personal are inconsistent and seem like rejects from GoDaddy.
Since then, I have opened two reseller accounts and added on two dozen clients. In the past six months, the last four clients that I have added to my account have been nothing but problems with the hosting. Hostek now blows you off to a support ticket system, that seems to be largely ignored for days at a time. When you call up with an OPEN ticket number, they tell you that you have to open up tet ANOTHER ticket, if it involves even a simple question. I end up spending as much non billable time deal with recurring tech issues as I did with GoDaddy.
