My business web site has been hosted by Homestead.com for several years.
The product and service keep getting worse, while the price goes up.
Homestead.com truly seems not to care about customers.
Signed up October 20, 2014-Ofcourse paid at that time. Closed account November 12th 2014. Reason for closing account - never can get through to anyone. Even when I do I am told I need to contact .....it's another department and have to wait all over again. BIGGEST ISSUE. My account continues to keep on getting deducted the monthly fee. They have now taken out two payments of approximately $78.00 each time. I would have tried to discuss this issue with them but hmmmm!!!! THAT'S RIGHT NEVER CAN REACH THEM! twice I timed it as to how long I was on hold the least amount of time was 21 minutes.
I've BEEN WITH HS FOR LIKE 12 YEARS PLUS. I WANT OUT BUT CAN'T EVEN GET A HOLD OF ANYONE TO CANCEL MY ACCOUNT.

Homestead has great salesmen and then nothing else. They recently switched to "big commerce" and have been absolutely no help on the website that they designed. Photos are missing, cart page doesn't work right, font color has been changed to just about the same color as the background page, and then customer service (after waiting over an hour) says its my responsibility!! Even though they built this website that cost me over $2,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
I started using intuit in 2009. Everything was fine at first. I went with site builder instead of simple store because simple store uses templates and is very limited for pics and text. Every year there are more problems. Constantly crashes when editing or publishing. I cant make changes or publish my main page. I don't know why and neither does customer support. Got a new computer with Windows 8, guess what, Intuit/Homestead doesn't support it!!! Recently my website email doesn't support Explorer. You have to use Google Chrome or Firefox!! What's up with that? Their Tech's must really SUCK because nothing is being fixed. Can't use windows 8??? Really??? Like they didn't know it was coming out??? I also think that customers using Win 8 can't view my site. My traffic is steadily going down. This is unacceptable!! This is my business and intuit is KILLING it. I want to change companies. I have several websites that I have hosted with homestead and I am on the gold plan. Have always received great customer service, never over charged and the services seem to be fair.
I have been a homestead customer now for over 5 years. One thing that is very nice... the homestead interface is very simple to use. I have set-up two customers with sites, both of these site are managed daily for business use. Both companies are large with many products, and a large sales force that depends on the
homestead website to show and provide customers with information on the products. I am happy with homestead!
I have both a SiteBuilder desktop account and a SiteBuilder-Plus account. Over the past 10-12 years I have had over 200 websites with Homestead/Intuit. Their hosting is not the issue. Homestead has had numerous problems with their proprietary SiteBuilder and SiteBuilder-Plus software and apparently they are not focused on fixing those issues. The software is user friendly, but full of snags and bugs.
Many of their tech support staff are outsourced and not well trained. I have had several of my websites down at the same time, and then wait days or weeks to have tech support address the issues. Due to their incompetence, I have lost several clients and am facing lawsuits by at least two clients because of their loss of revenue and/or clients.
And Homestead's email problems are legendary!

just to let others know that I was trying to host a new site with homestead - they took all my details and credit card information - then when I tried to log in again ..all I get is server error and they have not sent any emails of acknowledgement..needless to say I will block any attempts of transactions or money debited.
I NEVER USED their services never setup a website AND THEY BILLED FOR OVER A YEAR even A GREATER AMOUNT than offered in their advertisement!! i did not know they were billing me til recently! Never received any billing info never a receipt.

I was tricked into signing up in order to get a free iphone4s if I signed up. And if and when I receive my phone should start billing me after a trial of 2 free months. THEY STARTED BILLING ME IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT ANY iphone4s received!

I have had several domains - over 5 - with Homestead, for over 3 years. I absolutely loved the downloaded Homestead SiteBuilder program. Once Intuit took over, a lot of things changed. The new changes are not user-friendly, IMHO.
Because I wanted to have the flexibility to take PayPal and major credit cards on my one Homestead website, I called them recently, to explore my options. At first, I was told I needed SimpleStore. Then, I found out that I could either take PayPal OR major credit cards with SimpleStore, but not both. I would not have upgraded. Next, I was put into the Intuit Storefront. What a nightmare! Storefront is horrible! Opted out.
If you're just making a website for fun to show friends and family, Homestead is great. But if you're a business, this is not your best option. Setmysite.com, 123triad.com, or Web.com are better options for showcasing products and services.
Homestead seems like it is today's version of GeoCities. It's hard to have your business taken seriously because the designs are so limited.
I was a platinum customer with Homestead paying $50 a month. I had pushed the design tools to their limits. There were things I wanted to add to my website that were apparently not possible with the site builder. I called customer service for assistance because the changes I wanted to make seemed pretty basic. After being on hold for 36 minutes, I talked to this guy with a thick Pakistani accent who essentially told me I was out of luck.
If you need something simple, Homestead is fine. But if you want something unique, you're much better off with Web.com or Set My Site. Homestead just didn't cut it. Limited functions, crappy customer services, and not worth the price. Use something else.
Seems like an awesome idea free trial only $2NZD to set up .... until you cancel your free trial in the first month then you get charged $37.46NZD and now i have been charged again.... I want my money back homestead misleading people all over the world i'm quite happy to advertise that information everywhere for free....
I signed up with to update my business website and the sales person said it was easy online software. It is NOT. I have been working on my site for over a month now, the software will freeze, it won't do simple "new page" with the design I selected. Even Cory the last tech I spoke with couldn't figure out how to make the software work. BTW, I am on a Mac with DSL line and you would think this would be easy. I spent 5 hours one night, and then the software froze and I lost all the work even though I saved it each time I worked on a page. I want to cancel this and find someone who can really help.
You can report being scammed by Homestead to McAfee so that the site will have a red cross placed against it to indicate the company/site cannot be trusted. When the Homestead listing appears, click on the green McAfee Site Advisor tick, then "view site report". From there you have the option of reporting a "bad shopping experience."
I'd really expect an attorney, particularly one with a company as large as ATT, to be articulate. If government authorities laugh at consumer complaints as this "ATT attorney" states, then that's all the more reason we need for the press to get involved.
I have advised my bank that Homestead are fraudulently debiting credit cards without the permission of their owners and for services never received. I have also lodged a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission asking that Homestead is investigated. I urge others to do the same.
Having setting up a website myself recently I know that the bank has strict rules about best practice before they will grant a payment gateway. I think Homestead's bank also needs to be held to account for facilitating these practices. At the very least, their bank [read more...]
I signed up to see what the service was like because I am helping a friend with their web site. I never created a web page. I responded to their initial email saying I did not want to use their service. I never received an email from them saying "OK, your free trial is over." And worse, you cannot cancel via the web. You HAVE to call them to cancel. That is ridiculous. Now I find I am being billed on my credit card for a site I am not using and never built. I have used Intuit's tax program and Quicken but now I think I need to find a different company as this type of marketing is just sleaze of the first order.
I canceled the debit card or they would still be taking the 5.00 per month I know it is only $5.00 but if I had it all back it would be $90.00
They are scams. I can get into them so be careful. Watch out for auction swipe that is really bad. Didn't hear from them until months later when I see they charged my card. I tried to call them about it.
Customer "service" is very hard to get ahold of. Called several times, waited. The service rep told me he couldn't help me, I had to email their billing department.
Emailed their billing department and still haven't heard back.
HOMESTEAD and INTUIT ARE SCAMMERS. Here's why: they won't let you cancel, even though they claim it's a FREE TRIAL. That's fraud plain and simple.
And you shouldn't have to call to cancel!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THESE COMPANIES!!
I have been trying to get hold of them for 7 months to not avail. I was away and my credit card expired. When I tried to log in to add my new card, it would not let me in.
Not only did I loose my website and all the contents,text and effort put onto it, I now have to create a brand new website for my business.
You cannot get hold of them on the phone and they will NOT reply to any emails. I have sent emails every two days for the past 3 months and nothing!
Please stay clear and if you go with them, make sure you back up anything you put onto your website.
Do not expect any customer support.
I started with a web site hosted by another company for the last 10 years. After buying a Quickbooks product I was sold a lie.
I was sold the web site hosting service, web site design service, storefront and optimization service. All were supposed to be able to be integrated.
They can not be integrated after all, I find this out after months and months of work and thousands of dollars I paid them.
My online business traffic has fallen by 65% from what it was with the old web hosting service I was using. Homesteads SEO optimization system I overpaid for apparently does not work.
Their customer service, while polite, is a disaster. I get someone who knows what is going on maybe every third or forth try. On-Hold times have been anywhere from 15 min to over an hour. Transferred three-four times, cut off during a transfer etc..

Second, Homestead is extremely dishonest in its business dealings. My client lacked the foresight, when he decided to go with another web hosting company, to unlock his domain name and obtain the authorization code to transfer his domain. He defaulted on his monthly charge, and subsequently Homestead denied him access to his control panel (as they were well within their rights to do). However, they would not release his domain name which he has much invested in. I joined they Searchlight to get listed during a search but it has been a painful experiance. I have Email them a large number of times, changed my hit works,
called, asked for someone to call me.
When I signed up the SALESPERSON said someone would call me but never did.
Not worth the price.
The Help Center is slow to respond and usually the response is totally unrelated to the question asked.
