Customer service doesn't reply
Be careful I setup an account with them they then send me a message saying they need my drivers licence then I never hear from them again. I feel they may be scamming me as they took my Money, Credit Card details, and my Identification and now wont rely to me.
We responded in less than an hour confirming the domain registration and completed the order. The request for drivers license or government issued ID was to confirm the customer's identity with the payment method. Chargebacks with credit cards for fraud are a significant cost and when our 3rd party Maxmind (https://www.maxmind.com/en/home) flags an order we must do what we can to try and avoid fraudulent orders.

I bought a domain name and web-hosting with Hobo-host. They sent me the e-mail confirmation for the domain name and charged my bank for it. Then for a about two days, I find that I can't get my ftp to work, email or anything. So, I figure it's just the domain propagation that's taking a bit. I go and do a whois lookup on my domain, because I want to just check out the privacy features. Their web-site is no too good and does not explain how their domain privacy works. Sometimes a privacy service will still leave your name exposed, but for this domain I wasn't too worried about it and I figured for the price I could deal with HoboHosts lousy website. When I looked up my domain, it wasn't registered. It was still for sale. Yet I was assured that everything was right by Hobohost. Basically, they lied and never registered my domain name. They still tried to set the renewal for the same date I paid for it too, even though the domain wasn't registered on that date or at all. I bought the [read more...]
Hello there, I reviewed this account and can see that you were cursing and abusive towards the support representative that helped you with this matter. We by no means cheated you over the $11.25 for your domain name you purchased. As the support representative said, there was an issue with the API when we tried to negotiate the registration with the registrar. Unfortunately, bugs like this happen in technology and we did not question a full refund for a second. Your IP address was blocked from orders because we have no interest in attaining customers with an attitude and mindset like yourself. All of your services were inactive which gave us an opportunity to end any future business relationship.

I have had multiple accounts with Hobo host for some time. Unfortunately their service is always going down. In addition their email has recently been completely broken. Upon reporting a problem their customer service staff are confrontational and unhelpful. Honestly - stay away.

Even though you violated our Terms of Service by registering multiple accounts under the names of clients of your own and tried to impersonate them, we still attempted to help you (or really YOUR client) with the issue regarding email forwarders. You never did follow up with us after we assured you it was working by setting up a forwarder that sent emails to our own account. The description of our service always going down I'm sure is related to the recent outages we had due to a serious DDOS attack on one of our shared IP addresses that we had to null route traffic to due to the extent of the attack. We have done many things to prevent such an outages in the future and worked diligently to resolve the attack just as we did to resolve the issue you had. We hope you'll respond to our support ticket response and either tell us the issue is resolved or help us diagnose any potential issue(s) remaining.

Hobohost sucks!
4 months as customer on hobohost floor plan. I use uptime monitor to monitor the downtime of some sites hosted there and for past 4 months without fail, there will be at least 3-4 outages per month that last on average 2 hours. One even lasted 4 hours. Well, I did not make noise. Come one day, I found that access to my websites are either sluggish, took extremely long to load or returning 508 error. Sent a ticket and the reply was most impolite and dismissive and simply push the fault to me, claiming that a wordpress vulnerability for past FEW days had throttled my wordpress sites and insinuating that it was MY fault for overwhelming their servers LOL! Conveniently ignoring the fact about the frequent and extensive outages for PAST 4 months. I had dealed with many hosting before. I can tolerate performance lapses, but not atrocious customer service. Sucks big time!

Over the past few days we have been being hit by Wordpress Brute Force attacks causing a substantial load on the server. These are directed at accounts that do not have any security around their wp-login.php page from these attacks. You can read more about them here:

Please secure your installations if you have any. You can see the full resource usage for your account under the link in the metrics section of cPanel. I see that you have been hitting the entry process limit 1,365 times in the past 24 hours. Having monitors for your site can cause spikes in this usage, as well as cronjobs or brute-force attacks as I mentioned before. I'll slightly raise these limits, but it is quite clear your account has been being throttled which would make the monitor believe they are down. I have been hosted by Hobohost.com now for about a year I think. And I've been pretty happy with the hosting so far. I currently have the Floor Package for a smaller site of mine and I have a VPS for my larger site. The price for the plans they offer are amazing in my opinion and you get what you pay for. As a matter of fact, I posted a ticket on Hobohost for 5 minutes ago and I already got my reply back with positive results. The support is amazing and the team is a happy bunch of people. The control panel they are using is cPanel which is the best one out there in my opinion.

Worth every penny!

I've been with this "HoboHost" company for 3 months now, and couldn't be happier! I started my hosting with them because they were so darn cheap, but little did I know the great support they offer! They have fixed my forums, databases, and other scripts multiple times when I thought all hope was lost! All this help was free! I used to have Bluehost, but they never wanted to help me with a single thing! HoboHost truly takes care of their customers, even though they seem to be a little comical with their advertising strategy! ;)
