SSD-Only Cloud

We’ve created the fastest and most convenient cloud technology to help you easily and more efficiently manage your infrastructure so you can get back to coding. We provide all of our users with high-performance SSD Hard Drives, a flexible API, and the ability to select the nearest data center location.

Private Networking

Private Networking enables Droplets to “talk” with other Droplets in the same datacenter. Traffic sent between Droplets across the private network will not count towards the bandwidth costs and can be used for database replication, file storage, and similar host to host communication.

Transfer Globally

Transfer a copy of your Droplet snapshot to all regions (Amsterdam, Toronto, San Francisco, New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore). Once you have transferred your snapshot to all regions, you will be able to spin up your image snapshot in any region from the Droplet create page.

Simple API

We have created a simple name spaced API that provides complete control over your virtual private servers. All of the functionality that you find in our web control panel will be made available via the API. Today we support all of the major virtual server actions, allowing you to build your own control interface.

Toronto Chosen as DigitalOcean Launches Datacenter - DigitalOcean, the world’s fastest growing cloud infrastructure provider for developers, today announced the launch of a new datacenter in Toronto, Canada (TOR1). Designed to meet the growing demands of Canada’s burgeoning technology and information sector, this marks the company’s 11th location worldwide and underscores its rapid growth.
This announcement comes on the heels of the company’s $83MM Series B led by Access Industries with participation from Andreessen Horowitz. The decision to open a Canadian datacenter will have a positive impact on the nearly half a million software developers throughout the region, in terms of reduced latency as well as compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
“Canada is our third largest customer segment and we want to make it easy for developers there to deploy applications and store data locally,” said Ben Uretsky, CEO of DigitalOcean. “There are some amazing companies being built in major tech hubs like Toronto, Montreal and [search all digitalocean.com news]

digitalocean.com has the worst support of all
I have worked with a lot of hosting companies already and I believe Digital Ocean has the best offers for VPS Hosting. Unfortunately though, I wouldn't recommend their services to beginners who has no experience in managing their own servers. Why? Because DO doesn't have much of a friendly and informative Technical Support team.

The support team often answers technical questions with one short sentence full of jargons which you would often ask "how do you do just that"? The worst part of it is that sometimes, they will not answer your question at all. And their replies feel that they are really in a hurry to end the conversation between you two.

But if you take a look at it from another angle, that kind of treatment is to be expected. DO is built for developers as their tagline goes. They expect that you know how to manage servers yourself. They will leave you with a bunch of useful resources and leave you out there to work with it.

So DO is definitely the best choice for the [read more...]
