I have been using the company to host personal and the websites of relatives for almost a decade now. From several years I am using their paid hosting services. The pricing on their plans is quite good, considering what they offer. The thing I like the most about AwardSpace is that they do not BOMBARD me with e-mails or BUY NOW notifications/banners, like other hosting providers on the market. They contact me, only if it is necessary. There was one time, one of my sites was corrupted and not displaying properly and they send me an e-mail about it.
The control panel is one-of-a-kind, it took me some time to get to know it, but after that it all made sense. I will probably stay with AwardSpace for as long as they keep the service at this level.
I am writing my review for the free option, which for my needs is the perfect one I've found on the net. No banners or ads displayed on my website, nice customer support over ticket. The only one thing I find bad is that the free plan cannot make outgoing connections to other sites and servers due to security they say.
I used awardspace.net for 4 years because I never felt like actually going through the effort of switching hosts. Throughout the 4 years they had pretty bad downtime relative to other hosts. What got me was last night I noticed all of my sites were down. I tried to login to my account and kept getting a message about invalid user. If you call up you get connected to another company that provides support and they are located in India which made it very hard to understand what was going on. They deleted my account even though I had been paying for it for years now and have not gotten back to me in over a day now about my issue. My account was deleted because they said I was sending spam emails, however, the only email scripts I had were the ones that were set up for the contact forms on my sites and all emails were sent directly to me.
They are by far the worst at dealing with support. They do have some good features but overall I would avoid them.

After 6 months with Awardspace :.. Well "Awardspace sucks"
My site has "Aperantely" used 5Gig of data in the first 2 days of the month of May, and because of that it's been suspended. But from history, data usage has been in the 100MB's nowhere near the what Awardspace tells me.
What's also interesting is their Traffic Monitoring System show's my site only has used 40MB in total.
Contacting Support, with Screen shots is a joke. They are just don't understand it, or most likely don’t’ want to admit something sus is going on.
I have noticed (and who wouldn't with the amount of adds in the Control Panel) Awardspace has a special of $1.99 for a year hosting with Unlimited Storage and Traffic. After a year it appears to be in the $30+ something! So are they trying to get me to sign up for $1.99 then at the end of the year charge me a whooping $30. This doesn't look to be a honest hosting company anymore.
Good Luck to the new comers’ you should wait 6 months before [read more...]

Dead end help links
Renewing. an account should be easier and more user friendly.
Shouldn't trick people into a lifetime agreement of accessing my bank account.
No doubt there is a simple explanation for all of this but if you can't contact the company how can you find out what it is.
All companies should have at least an email address for contact.
I am now trying Freehostia.
My site is down for 2 days now. I cannot log in to my account either. I have received NO information from awardspace and they don't respond to my emails. I think that this behaviour is unacceptable!
After using the free service and transferring domains I was hit by the speed. Significantly slower when you pay. Of course, you are now trapped. Be _very_ careful with renewals and transfers I lost domains as AS control panel shows incorrect dates. They say that they have renewed but have not. So control panel says 9 more months to go, no emails to alert you etc and it expired last week. And that is with auto renewal turned on. Customer support is also extremely poor. They assume you are an idiot and give a textbook answer. You have reply several times before they actually read your support issue properly. Fix it? only if you are lucky. Control panel is very buggy. And of course when you can't do something such as pick and email address they don't listen. Do not use paypal as they set up a recurring payment and take money even if you turn off auto renew. Uptime is not so good either. Use a free uptime monitor and see that it is poor even on the free service. Never had so much trouble [read more...]
Site down 1-2 days a month and is slow much of the time that it's up. No communication from customer services about outages and slow servers. I signed up for one of their promotions but will not renew.
"Believed or not up until few months ago I did not know what is hosting. I wanted to create a website to promote my work. I sing up with Awardspace on a free account and had some rough times. I mean my site some time was up sometimes not. So I called them to ask what is going on. The person on the phone was really cool. He explained that on free servers that is almost normal since there was some thousand users on it. Imagine that. So he said to me to try the paid plans. Since I do not need much I took the basic plan. Now imagine that may site is never down, it loads fast. Now some people say that free is good but let me tell you sometimes to give a little is better.
Thanks awardspace see ya.
This guys from Awardspace are awesome. I stated using them back in 08 and I went thru all of their service plans. Started with the Basic but as may sites kept growing and growing I was upgrading. The servers are perfect almost no down time unless they do maintenance witch they notify in advance. Also the support team answers all may questions and the do not take more then couple of hours to do so. I will definitely say that they are a great company and I’m really happy that I can use them.
Now where do I begin from..... I started with a free package more that 4 years ago and all has been going smoothly since then. Yeah, they had their own issue, but they were not something that one should be worried about. The support people - I have never seen such an efficient team. The response time is in literally minutes. I had a couple of times when I deleted my site and they managed to restore all my data, which saved me a lot of hassle. The uptime is also excellent. I recently renewed for 3 more years until 2014. What else can I say.... They are just amazing
I can express the point that Awardspace remains the best hosting company I've been using them for quite a long time already.
Website content transfer, domain name transfer, DNS pointing, effortless because of the professional help that was truthful, swift and accurate, plus done in a very friendly way!
Moreover, excellent stuff for open source project like Joomla, Mambo, etc. and good prices and tutorial for all level´s knowledge people.
Really great service that I highly recommend!
I read in their forum that even the payed accounts suffered this kind of sutuations.
Do not waste your time as I did, I had to move my blog with all the sql tables and filles and it took me over 12 hrs.
I am a professional web hosting critic and reviewer. I've audited more than 60% of all web hosting companies in the world and I can safely say that Awardspace is one of the best out there. Why ?
+ Data Center located in the country with the best economy – Germany
+ Prices hard to match
+ Real Uptime is somewhere between 99.8% and 99.9% which is really good. Even though most companies say its 99.999% or even 100% you should not be naïve and be realistic. Nothing is 100% sure.
+ Great features even on the free hosting plan (used it before I upgrade)
- Admin Panels are not very user friendly
In conclusion awardspace is a top-notch hosting provider and consider the few cons I would definitely place it in the World Top5 of web hosting providers.
They are really a great deal
I have used list of other hosting companies before I came here. All of those have failed what they have promised to give as an agreed service or sometimes terms and contitions were not very good to accept. Some of them had a poor support service, site uptime problems etc.
But since I have joined Awardspace I dont plan to go anywhere else. Because for a small monthly payment I get 60 GB storage 1000GB traffic and lot of other services I could not find elsewhere. I would say uptime is 99 percent.
I have met a great support service in here. These professionals pick up all queries timely and try to help in all solution possible and impossible cases. I remember I had one case where I asked support personnel to help me in some .htaccess problem regarding payment prosessor installation (SSL). [read more...]
I signed up late in the evening and just took advantage of new the cutoff for new accounts to be activated by a few minutes.
This morning things worked its way and my account was approved and setup very quickly. I also got a detailed welcome email with information about their environment and my new main account. At first I could not log into their helpdesk, but a quick ticket solved that issue in 15 minutes after submitting my ticket.
My next ticket was about moving my accounts. I asked them if they would be able to assist by moving my account (which really makes a site move a breeze). This ticket, low in priority was answered within 45. The bad thing is they do not want to offer moving of all my [read more...]
So, now I have a new (free hosted) blog...which I can't see, edit or troubleshoot...thx awardspace. Guess I'll be on my way to bluehost about now.
Up until January 7th, 2010. On Jan 7th, one of their service went down (server no:8), bringing down all the sites hosted on it. It has been three weeks and not a single one official announcement has been made from the company itself. Even people on paid hosting plans have not been able to access their websites, or control panels. As the server is down, it is not possible to retrieve your web site either. So, people with no backups are basically screwed.
Having technical problems is one thing. But having a 21 day downtime with no official announcemnt/communications is another. Way to go Awardspace...
Seriously, the MySQL is down like, half the time. Sometimes the databases are down for an entire day. If you want to host a forum or something like that, don't use awardspace. But everything else is just PERFECT. So, if you're just some dude who doesn't really want any dynamic content like a forum or a commenting system then go right ahead, awardspace is the option for you. If you do however want to use MySQL, you're better off using something else.
Really its Very Great.....I will Say thanks For Ever
PHP, Perl(I didn't try yet), MySQL(1 database /w 10Mb, which is enough), FTP, 5 subdomains and you can also use 2 of your own registered domains. The account will never expire(mine is plus than 1 year old!). And the server has a good speed, even for scrips with SQL queries.
I've seen better control panels, but I rarely use it 'cause FireFTP(my favorite FTP client) almost replaces it.
The only negative point is that scripts are not allowed to send eMails in free hosting accounts. This is probably an anti-spam measure and don't expect to find this feature enabled in other free hosting services.
I recomend!!! ;)
I have been using their services for more than 2 years now. At first I decided to give them a chance with the free plan they are offering it was ok though you do not have an SMTP server (can't send mails only receive), which is reasonable-you can not ask for every thing especially for free. This the reason why I updated to Max Pack and since then I am pretty much satisfied with them. By the way you can add a sub domain from your control panel after signing up.
Just signed up. It was very each time to get their condition of usage only after sgning.
When I signed for their free deal (not completly free - you have to pay for the domain) i found out that I cannot upload a lot of types of files (.jpg, .zip and more). With thuis and aditional restriction this proved to be unusefull for me.
After buying their EGG plan again I got the terms of usage only after paying them. I hope they don't have any additional hidden clauses in their agrrement.
