😠 In the three months I've been with Afrihost I can honestly say this the minute I can cancel my subscription with them I will even though they say there's no contract the fact that they charge a R999 fee for cancellation before the six month mark tells me different also even though their ad states it takes a week to install they are liars it took me a month before I had fibre in my home so, please take my advice and do NOT go with Afrihost. Their call center speaks from the typical script and will only apologize for the inconvenience caused and do no more to help you through your struggles. If I could give them a zero I would.

😁 Excellent company. We've been with them for years and used a multitude of different services. Zero trouble. Customer support is lighting fast and always friendly. Service is reliable. We never had an issue with them. A very satisfied customer here, I trust Afrihost. Highly recommended.

😠 If I could I would give them a 0. Really bad service for hosting, our team had to direct them how to set up their own 'Managed' cloud hosting. After a week of dealing with different people each seeming to follow their own protocol, we decided to cancel. They charged us anyway for something we never used. No apologies nothing. A cheeky smiley face in our last email saying we canceled after the billing run by Tanner This is our second run-in with them. Would never recommend them

😠 Afrihost is the worst!
I will never use Afrihost as long as I live after my experience. I got an account for August from them and it was fine. And I only wanted it for 1 month ONLY! As with other ISP's I have been with if I wanted to cancel I will just let it run to the end of the month and not renew it and then it will just cancel it as I pay with a credit card not debit order.
Now what happened with me is that I let it run until the end of August and I get an invoice for September. So I tried to cancel my account and they wouldn't let me, they said I have to pay it. I was planning on moving to 3G internet in September as ADSL was too expensive and my new house didnt have ADSL now i have to pay R500 for NOTHING!!!!!! What a waste of money down the drain that I cant afford!! They stole my money!
VERY VERY UPSET! :(
Will never use them again, and you shouldn't either, I should of stayed with OpenWeb :(

😉 Reliability problems seem to be a regular occurance. A few months back I was unable to use bandwidth that I had just purchased due to connectivity problems. After several e-mails I eventually got the problem sorted, but the level of feedback until the problem was solved was POOR. This morning they just dropped off again and this is unacceptable at this time of day (since 09:00). I have had to top up my telkom account to get connected again and my 2gb (unused) afrihost bandwidth is useless atm. Price is pretty good and the freeby monthly gb are positives. However, if the problems persist I will have to consider another provider.

😠 afrihost has throttled the crap out of everyones account, and shaped us to death. far better service with the normal R29 per gig account, uncapped in not uncappedshapedthrottledtodeath account....
i believed in them, and what they trying to do but they have messed this up completely.
its time to move mine and my companies accounts away from afrihost.
goodbye Gian and your :) replies to serious complaints.

😁 So far so good guys - quick turnaround on query emails, and I have just upgraded to 386kbps uncapped at the affordable price of R197 per month. I work from home (transcription, translation, proofreading and editing) so upload a lot of audio and sometimes video that I have to split, so my ADSL MUST work - to date, since joining in February, they were down for 4 hours once in march overhauling something, and never a problem since.
The person complaining of crap service - check your computer settings, dude - maybe your firewall is the problem!

😃 I don't usually bother to post comments like this, but I have to because I think the negative postings about Afrihost are totally unfair.
When I first started using them, there were some problems, but they have really become quite reliable of late.
You do get what you pay for, and so I am not able to rate them all that highly in features, but in value for money, top marks.
Also, their customer service is excellent.
And over-all, I would recommend them.
I think we in SA are too quick to assume that local is not good, and so therefore are looking for problems... and then of course we find them.
Rather, lets look at all the good we have in this great country. Including ISPs.

😠 Afrihost has been deducting from my account a monthly fee of R99.00 since April 2008 and has yet not been able to allow me to set up any kind of Website using their built in Fantastico management utility.
I have sent, and received a multitude of emails to their customer support on this subject trying various tones and approaches, and i always get the same very friendly useless help, that leaves me no better of than i started more than a year ago, it is very clear that they have no idea hoe the Fantastico product works, much less any of the systems it hosts. In the interim their debit order, as can be expected has been going off so regularly you can set your watch by it.
I wonder how many other suckers out there sits in the same situation i do, and because it is a relatively cheap amount monthly just sort of forgets about it and let it slide. I check back every couple of months to see if the wind may accidentally have changed direction, but to no avail, Afrihost would not let me [read more...]
