3Essentials met all my expectations for more than three years. My websites were always up, and response time was good. The few times I submitted tickets, I got quick, polite, and satisfactory replies. However, a few things became deal-breakers, and now I'm looking to change hosts.
The first problem happened when I decided I wanted to host more than one domain name. When I first signed up, they didn't offer a multi-domain plan. By the time I wanted one, they did offer it, and it was only a couple dollars more per month. So I asked that my account be upgraded, but they said they couldn't do that. Instead, I'd have to download all my files, cancel my account, and sign up again as a new customer. I thought that was unreasonable. There's no reason they couldn't just turn on the option that allows multiple domains and bill me the extra couple of bucks.

days of additional work just to prove to them my windows hosting plan wasn't allocated the right amount of resources and then sent them a copy of the original ticket highlighting their original promise...Once they realized it was a check mate Support Manager Damon's response "To be honest, I haven't gone back and read every ticket in your history, I'm not sure that's necessary for the discussion".
Really?? Who does that?????
After 3 gruelling weeks trying unsuccessfully to set up our small but critical website with unresponsive email-only support from WinHost, we switched to 3Essentials. No canned responses here. Such a contrast. Within a few hours spread over 2 days, the site was up and running faster than at WinHost. The support team worked through the myriad config issues (among many others!) with unfailing politeness, patience, professionalism, and downright HELPFULNESS in every case - as did sales. We are relieved and delighted to be associated with this host!

Our carrier-neutral datacenters are located in Raleigh, NC and Dallas, TX.
At 3Essentials Hosting security is a top priority. Both of our datacenters have 24 x 7 x 365 on-site staff to tackle issues at any time. Our datacenter has a 5 Factor Physical Access control system in place: Card Key, Biometric and PIN access, Physical ID check in and held key access to cabinets and cages.
Both of our datacenters also have intrusion detection systems to prevent unauthorized electronic access and more than 100 internal & external video cameras (90 day video storage)
Tier 1 Providers
3Essentials Hosting has multiple Tier 1 providers at both datacenter locations. We make sure that our network is optimized for performance and reliability to all of our providers.
We use the redundancy of BGP enhanced by the Internap 5200 flow control platform (FCP). This multicarrier intelligent routing appliance identifies the absolute fastest route across Internet backbones, improving performance 15 to 25 percent. In addition, we use 10 gigabit Ethernet connections from all providers, minimizing congestion. Our datacenter's fully redundant Cisco architecture uses Layer 3 6509 switches.
Fire Supression and Power
All of our locations have fire suppression systems. Both of our datacenters have A/B power redundancy with up to 12.5 MW of utility power. Multiple diesel generators allow for continuous and uninterrupted power in the event of a power outage. All generators and backup systems are tested bi-weekly and routinely ran at full load in order to ensure proper functionality. All service entrances from utility providers utilize diverse transformers; automatic transfer switches (ATS), UPS, generators and PDUs.
At this present time all of our hardware is purchased directly from our preferred vendors.
Shared Server Platform
While we do not disclose the exact specifications of our equipment, we ensure that all hardware purchased for our shared platform meets or exceeds industry standard equipment. We procure only top-end hardware for all shared servers to ensure that performance, reliability, and quality is maintained. The types of software utilized for our platform can be found on our shared server plan pages.
Our virtualization platform is based off of Microsoft's Hyper-V Hypervisor. All virtual systems are located on top end host systems that are not overbooked. No hardware resources are shared between our virtual systems (all resources provisioned for a virtual system will always belong to that virtual system).
All of our dedicated servers are purchased directly from our preferred vendors. While we have many dedicated servers readily available, at times we may be out of a certain type of configuration

I wanted a company I could pay on a monthly basis because I didn't have a lot of money at the time, but I wanted to get started as soon as possible. It's a little more expensive to pay monthly, but if you want to pay by the year or by two years you'll save a great deal. Having now tested them out for awhile now, I'll probably sign up for a year. This way I'll save some money and not have to worry about paying for awhile.
Before I signed up I had a few questions. Part of the reason for these questions was to see their sales or tech supports response time in case I ever had a problem. Each time they responded in a very timely matter.
My website with 3Essentials has been very fast. I also have full access to my .htaccess file, which is nice to block people from linking directly to my files. The control panel [read more...]
As confirmed by the customer (after the posting of this rating), once 3Essentials was made aware of a problem with the customers site we identified the change (that we didn't make) and disabled the feature that had been enabled in PLESK. From the opening of the original ticket, until the removal of the feature was about one hour.
At no time has 3Essentials been served with a law suit.
After many days of back and forth explanations, the customer has stated to us:
"I have no complaints and no hard feelings against 3Essentials. Please feel free to close this dispute."
