They use low-energy systems for their data centers. They have registered more than 3.5 million domain names and they are currently hosting over a million websites. 123-Reg claims that their products are easy to use and that they are the largest hosting provider in UK now.123-reg was founded in 2000 by Tim Brealey and Jonathan Brealey who have been also setup Webfusion Internet Solutions Ltd in 1997 (by now is tsohost.com )
123-Reg is specialized in products, such as:
- Domain Registration;
- Website Hosting: Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Email Hosting, WordPress, Website Builder;
- Email Marketing;
- SEO services;
- Security: SSL certificates;
Web hosting at 123-Reg comes with speed, reliability, flexibility and state-of-the-art security. Plans have at least one free domain and one website. Shared hosting packages include MySQL databases, as well as the disk space and bandwidth allotment. There is also a Shared Hosting Premium Service (with three plans available) that offers superior performance. 123-Reg claims that the Premium Hosting option is cheaper than actually purchasing dedicated servers or having an admin team control your website; due to their easy-to-use control panel, administration should not be that hard and it can be upgraded whenever the customers want.
There are 4 VPS packages available, each of them coming with unmetered data transfer and the possibility to choose between Linux or Windows OS. Customers get full administration access, the latest Dell hardware and backup. VPS plans at 123-Reg offer high performance and faster pages.

😠 They started life as "Supanames", who were competitive and provided good service at the time. While 123-Reg remains competitive for domain registration, I'll keep with them for that: but they're useless for hosting. After several months of getting slower and slower (it seems they're using old 286s for servers), in February 2019 they suddenly suspended my website without warning, accusing me of hosting malware. Since my site was no longer accessible to the outside world, none of the publicly available website analysers could independently check it. In the end, it proved to be another website on the same server that was the culprit - but not a word of apology. By that time I had pulled the plug and transferred to a VPS from Ionos - a massive increase in speed and a decent control panel (Plesk) instead of some home-grown abortion that was clearly designed by a graphic artist but is about as much use as a politician's promise!
Avoid at all costs. If you want to see how slow they are, simply visit their own website!!!
