Jan 28, 2005 : ViaWest Opens Second Utah Data Center

📅 - Managed Web hosting and colocation provider ViaWest (viawest.net) announced on Thursday that it has opened a 15,000 square foot data center facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. According to ViaWest, the move is part of the company's continued efforts to bolster its operations in Utah, due to the strong growth and demand there.

"Salt Lake City has established itself as a core business hub in the west, and we are extremely excited to strengthen our presence in such a compelling and growth-oriented market," says Roy Dimoff, co-founder and CEO of ViaWest. "ViaWest is one of the few service providers in the US to offer both robust hosted and colocation solutions. The demand for our services in the Utah market has driven us to open a second major data center in less then two years."
ViaWest's facility, designed to support enterprise hardware and applications that require significant power sources to operate, connects to an extensive fiber network hub and will be managed full-time by network operating center staff.
ViaWest's other Utah data center is in Lindon, approximately 65 kilometres south of Salt Lake City.
