Apr, 2001 : OptiGlobe launches Argentina?s most advanced data center

📅 - OptiGlobe (http://www.optiglobe.com), a leader in providing Internet data center services to Latin America, announced the launch of its newest Latin American data center in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday.

The new center is part of OptiGlobe's plan for continued expansion into Latin America, which began with a data center launched in Sao Paulo, Brazil last November, and will continue later this month with the launch of a third center in Rio De Janiero, Brazil. The company also has sites under development in Mexico City and Santiago.
OptiGlobe also announced on Wednesday that its Sao Paulo data center had surpassed the 100 client mark, having added an average of one client per day, since the data center's launch. The company's client roster includes a number of leading Brazilian e-commerce sites, content developers and network service providers, such as Amelia, C&C-Conibra/Madierense, Cultura Inglesa, Globo.com and Yahoo! Brazil.
The new $100 million data center in Buenos Aires was constructed in just eight months, and its initial configuration of 125,000 square feet is set to house up to 18,000 servers. The center is also built to be expandable to 330,000 square feet. Equipped with a complex arrangement of backup power grids, water supplies, as well as fire and security systems, and staffed 24 x7 by engineering and technical teams, the Buenos Aries center is set to offer Argentineans the very highest level in Web hosting service.
According to OptiGlobe, the new data center uses fifth generation technology, allowing the company to offer the highest levels of service and reliability available. And in addition to its sound technology, OptiGlobe's carrier-neutral infrastructure allows clients to choose their high-speed connections from among the major telecom providers.
OptiGlobe's Latin American expansion plan is geared toward reaching the Web hosting and advanced colocation markets that are experiencing explosive growth. According to International Data Corporation, the demand for these services in the markets OptiGlobe is targeting are projected to reach $3.7 billion by 2005.
