Amazon refused the request two times, saying it would “not release customer information without a valid and binding legal demand properly served on us.”

That isn't surprising, considering the precedent set when Apple CEO Tim Cook refused to unlock the San Bernadino attackers' iPhone. Cook made the following statement on the matter: “We fear that this demand would undermine the very freedoms and liberty our government is meant to protect.”
