Nov, 2016 : Eric Schmidt Worries Most About Russian Cyber Threats

📅 - Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Alphabet, worries more about a cyber attack from Russia more than any other country. In an interview on The David Rubenstein Show, Schmidt said,”The country I worry about the most right now is actually Russia. If you look at their actions over the last few months, they've done a number of very publicized invasions, attacks, and alterations, which can only be understood as cyber activity and they're not shy about it.”

Interesting enough, Google has a long history of battling with the Chinese hackers. Google actually suffered so many attacks from China, that the company pulled out of mainland China entirely.

This comes after the company saw another year of declines when it comes to the amount of women working at Microsoft. The company believes the decline was due to the exit from the phone handset market.

📅 - Russia Blocks Access to LinkedIn - Access to LinkedIn has been blocked by Russian authorities following a court ruling saying the company has broken local storage data laws. Last week, a Moscow court ruled that LinkedIn had failed to follow a 2014 federal law mandating internet companies to store personal data of Russian citizens on local servers in Russia. The decision went into effect today.

This is the first time a social media site has been blocked in Russia.

The Russian state news agency RIA quoted an American representative as saying, “The United States is deeply concerned. We call on Russia to immediately restore access to LinkedIn.”
