The appointment is aligned with LeaseWeb's plans to increase its market share in Eastern Europe, which is a major market for the web host.
Emily Sampson, LeaseWeb's new business developer.
LeaseWeb currently manages more than 15,000 dedicated servers in four different data centers, with about 70 percent of these servers being used by clients in foreign countries, including Eastern Europe. These countries include Poland, Russia, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, as well as Turkey. "Internet connections in Eastern Europe are still not comparable to those in Amsterdam," says Con Zwinkels, LeaseWeb's managing director. "Connections in Amsterdam are faster and more stable. In addition, our hosting network, with its capacity of 500Gbps, is attractive to those countries."Previously serving in a similar position at Microsoft in Munich, Sampson helped generate hosting business in several Eastern European countries by "developing hosting bundles, looking for specific offers, and finding partners to work with," she says.Sampson decided to work for LeaseWeb because of its international work environment and the fact that it is a relatively young organization. She says she is excited to be "at the foot of a worldwide expansion, where together with LeaseWeb, she "can still conquer the market."The strong internationalization of LeaseWeb's customers and personnel database has led the company to recently make English its official language. The web host now has employees spanning all over the globe, including the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Greece, Belgium and Poland.LeaseWeb provides a range of services, including web hosting, domain name registration, dedicated servers, colocation, server virtualization, and streaming. The company offers a bandwidth of more than 500Gbps, which it recently increased from 210Gbps to meet the increased bandwidth demand from existing and new customers.
In addition to its four data centers in the Amsterdam region via major telecom carriers, LeaseWeb is also present via Internet exchanges in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Frankfurt, New York, Vienna, Stockholm, Warsaw, Zurich, Prague and Madrid.Zwinkels recently discussed in an email interview the company's green practices through its EvoSwitch data center, as well as the environmentally friendly efforts of the hosting and data center industries at large.
