📅 - Offshore Web hosting provider HostingPanama (hostingpanama.com) announced on Thursday that it has been selected to host part of SpeedTest's (http://www.speedtest.net) Internet speed test service.
The service, which enables Web users to test their Internet connections' download and upload speeds at various locations around the world, relies on world-class data center facilities to serve as test sites, says the company.
The speed test works by downloading and uploading a series of test files between the end user and the data center. Software on the client machine then measures the speed at which the files were transferred and creates a visual reading to show the user's connection speed relative to worldwide and national averages. HostingPanama says it hopes the service will serve as a sales tool for prospective customers who can independently verify the speed of the company's Internet connection.
