Mar 3, 2008 : Brazilian Portal UOL Buys Digiweb

📅 - Last week, Brazil's largest media portal and Internet company UOL (http://www.uol.com.br) announced that it had acquired Web hosting and dedicated server provider Digiweb, making UOL the country's third-largest provider of Web hosting services.

The company's announcement didn't specify a Digiweb, though it appears that rather than the very large Irish hosting provider, or the very tiny Michigan-based host, the Digiweb involved in this case is, logically, the Brasil-based Digiweb (digiweb.com.br).

The front page of that company's website bears some of UOL's markings, and a pop-up window containing an announcement that, to someone who doesn't speak Portuguese, appears to concern the acquisition of Digiweb's customers by UOL.

Digiweb will remain responsible for operation and customer service, with the added support of UOL's team and infrastructure. The company's clients will now have access to UOL content.

According to UOL, the service of Digiweb customers will not be affected at all during the transition.
